Worked pretty good for the first year but then slowed down to half speed and it’s not even close to worn down yet. I checked with the Samsung Magician app and it’s barely had anything written to it.

I went through 2 of these after I thought the first one was defective. Extremely fast but the drive shuts off after 20-30 minutes of use. After searching online it looks like its a common issue with this product. I tried playing a PC game and it crashed after a few minutes of play, it also crashed while running a few virtual machines.
I am very sorry for the constant disconnection issues you are experiencing with your Samsung T7 Portable SSD. I understand the frustrations and the inconveniences this has caused.
Samsung stands behind the quality and performance of every T7 SSD we manufacture with a limited 3-year manufacturer’s warranty when purchased brand-new, directly from any authorized dealer, like Best Buy.

Ran extremely hot immediately. Downloaded [Portable SSD Software 1.0 for Mac (The macOS Big Sur user's only)
Version 1.7.3 | 22.8MB] and had a hell of a time installing it even as a person doing light IT work right now. And they called security and privacy" section of "PREFERENCES" allowed the installation as I've done for other products and other software packages restarted the MacBook Pro and when I tried to run the Samsung software locked up my system real good. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it a few times and then it would not recognize the T7 matter what! Extremely disappointing, I spent all morning restoring my MacBook Pro with an Acronis back up to get rid of any remnants as there was no Samsung uninstall utility for this horrible software which does not recognize the drive no matter what!
