I've tried it on many different products; anything from a flagship Android device, MacBook, Win10 system & a Xbox One X. On the MacBook and Win10 setups, it averages speeds right around 850mb/s. On the Xbox One X console it averages about 490-520mb/s due to the console only having USB 3.0, so the SSD is essentially being bottle-necked, which I knew would be the case from day 1. However, in all cases this drive is ridiculously fast, has really nice build quality, easy to use on any platform and for what you're getting it's definitely worth the price. I've made this the main drive from which I run games off of on my XB1X. I have the stock internal 1TB HDD, a 5TB external USB 3.0 HDD that I download all games and apps to, and then I have this new 1TB SSD that I transfer my most played/current game(s) to because it loads and runs so much faster. Overall, I haven't had it long but I have no complaints, yet. If anything changes I'll be sure to update my review, but as of now I have no cons whatsoever about purchasing this SSD. For the price & the future proof of it being USB 3.2 Gen 2, it really is hard to beat.

Tiny, BIG, fast, and super portable. Best portable drive I have ever used.

After using the Samsung T7 1TB SSD for a year, I’m happy to grab a second one. It’s been a solid drive—super fast for transferring big files, and the size makes it easy to toss in my bag. The hardware encryption is a nice perk, especially since I’ve got some work files on it. I also own the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD, which is great too, but I feel the T7 runs cooler and feels a bit sturdier over time. Overall, it’s a solid, reliable choice.

This is a very nice external hd. This thing is lightening FAST compared to my other standard HDD. It does get warm but just keep it in the open and you should be fine. It is kinda slippery so I suggest getting a case for it because it can definitely slip outta your hand. If you want a FAST external drive this is the one to get! It’s a kinda pricey tho.

I purchased this to use as an external drive for the Xbox Series X. While of course not as fast as the internal drive, this does have great read/write speeds and works excellent with legacy games to free up internal storage. For those who want portable solution, it has a really small footprint and could easily slip in a pocket.

Easy and fast external drive. This was my first SSD drive. I learned that these drives get warm if you write a lot of data to them at once.
My computer is 5 years old so speed was constrained by only having USB 2.0 ports
The drive is very compact. The fact that it came with two cables meant I didn't have to purchase any additional dongles or converters.

Worked great as an emergency backup location for important data. Really easy to setup and use. Has the ability to provide a password lock but haven’t used that yet. Fast transfer, small device did exactly what I needed.

What a great decision!! I was planning to trade in our Mid-2015 iMac 27" 5k as it was running SLOW...almost unusably slow to be honest. I wasn't sure what to do, then I read some online suggestions that going to an external (changing the HDD on an iMac is nightmare inducing) SSD drive. I did some research and settled on the Samsung T7 (warranty is less than the 5yr competitors however). After properly formatting the drive for a Mac bootable drive, and then cloning the internal hard drive, I started up the iMac...and OH MY GOODNESS!!! The iMac NEVER ran this fast...it is crazy what a difference this made (using the USB-A 3.0 port..not even Thunderbolt 2)!! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a FAST external drive. It is truly tiny as well...hard to describe, but maybe the size of a deck of cards, but only about 7-10 cards thick.

I was looking for extra storage to place old files and photos off my computer. I was so had a lot of photos I wanted to keep. This 1 terabyte helps me do just that! It’s small and can be stored anywhere. Great job Best Buy!

Great little drive. I know it should be getting around 1Gb/s transfer rate but I'm only getting 650 MB/sec on my M1 MacBook Pro. I'm confident that this is a MacBook issue and hope it will be resolved soon. Until then, I'm still happy to have the 650!
All in all, the size, speed, and reliability of this drive make it a no-brainer for a new MacBook.

**5-Star Review for Samsung T7 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD**
I recently purchased the Samsung T7 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD, and I couldn't be more impressed! Here are a few reasons why I’m giving it a five-star rating:
1. **Incredible Speed**: With read speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and write speeds of 1000 MB/s, transferring large files has never been faster. It significantly cuts down the time I used to spend waiting for backups and file transfers.
2. **Compact and Durable Design**: The sleek, lightweight design makes it easy to carry around in my bag. Plus, the aluminum body feels sturdy and is resistant to shocks, which gives me peace of mind when I'm on the go.
3. **User-friendly Setup**: Setting up the T7 was a breeze. It was recognized instantly by both my Windows and Mac systems, and I didn't need to deal with any complicated installations or formatting.
4. **Security Features**: I appreciate the built-in password protection and AES 256-bit encryption. It adds an extra layer of security for my sensitive data, which is essential in today’s digital world.
5. **Versatile Compatibility**: The T7 works seamlessly across various devices, including PCs, Macs, and even gaming consoles. It’s perfect for storing games, media, and important files without worrying about running out of space.
Overall, the Samsung T7 1TB External SSD is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for speed, portability, and reliability. Highly recommended!

Great external fast storage option for anything. T7 only improves upon the T5. Possibly my 5th now, have several T5's and 1 other T7.
I tried the sandisk first before buying this last t7, but within a week it had unreadable errors/bad sectors, and my macbook would only allow read only. Really wierd, and certain its a one off. But went back to Best Buy and returned it for the samsung. Wanted to try something new, Samsungs have impressed and i have a bunch, lesson learned, stay with tried and true.
Read/write speeds are fast. Gets warm, sometimes really warm, when workiing off of it for hours. Likely throttles a bit, but havent noticed.
Works well for dumping video vides from an event, and then working off them (along with scratch drive) in FFP or Premiere Pro. Dont notice a difference in anything between local SSD and this external. $250 isnt cheap, but 250 for 2tb of fastish ssd, is going rate for drive itself, let along the enclosure and controller this usit gives. A+, have already and likely will, continue to buy.
