Drive did not work. I could see it in the "safely remove hardware and eject media" tab, but was not in file explorer or disc management. If I had known SanDisk is a Western Digital product, I wouldn't have purchased it. I've had less than positive experiences with WD drives in recent years that resulted in loss of data.

I had this hard drive for three weeks and then it failed and I had just put all of my major project folders onto the drive just for a couple of hours while i cleared space on my SSD's and bam. $3600 to be able to get my files recovered.

I needed a drive to send data to during my transition to a new desk top. It was just the ticket. One thing to note, the drive comes formatted for a Mac. In order to use for Windows, it needs to be reformatted. No problem, scan the QR code, takes ya right to the site, simple directions, 5 minute job if that, and you're in business. (This can formatted to use on both operating systems, so all in all, very handy. Built solid, no complaints!

This portable drive is designed for plug-n-play for Macs. For this windows user this is a switch and was the primary cause of my initial installation challenges. I do not recall any of the instruction sheets that came with the box identifying the steps needed for use, but the instructions were on the website and easy to follow.
Once you come to the realization that there is nothing wrong with your PC or the drive, and find the website instructions for re-formatting; it is smooth sailing. Unfortunately, I do not have a direct link for installation on the website. Of course, you should not be clicking on links from strangers anyway.

This external drive arrives formatted for Macs, not for PCs. If you have a PC you will see it in your devices, but File Explorer will not recognize it unless you reformat the drive first. While the tech support person I reached through a chat with the company was very helpful, it was extremely frustrating not being able to use it right out of the box--I was already having computer problems that necessitated getting an external drive in the first place!
Now that it's formatted correctly it seems to be working fine.
