I prefer buying physical since it's harder for things to go wrong, never thought the day would arrive where this is a thing we have to go out of our way or wait for but, here we are.
Shovel Knight is a really fun game, it's a NES aesthetic platformer but with a lot of modern things thrown in, at least from a technical aspect. This game wouldn't run on an NES, straight up.
I'm not exactly sure what to say with the game since I'm sure 99% of people who are looking at this know exactly what it is; a platformer with a silly story, great music and interesting platforming challenges.
You get all the DLC and options here, multiple characters to play as with their own gameplay styles, adding to the game that's already pretty dang replayable!
The game can be pretty tough but so far not crushingly so. You have infinite lives with the only punishment for failing is losing coins, which you can get back if you make it back to the ...floating bags of money. I did say it's silly.
If it's of interest you can change the gender of any character in the game, you, the enemies, etc. What does this change? Nothing gameplay wise. The sprites are quite low res so very little visually changes and the rare times they refer to the gender it'll pop up. Why this was implemented? IDK, fun?
Either way, the game is replayable as heck with just Shovel Knight nevermind the other playable characters which as I said have their own gameplay feel. You can play as any of them from the start but, it's probably best to start with the Knight of Shovels himself.
So, if you fancy a physical version that actually has all the content on the cart unlike the big AAA publishers who're too cheap to do so, Shovel Knight is worth getting!

This collection is actually three games in one (with a fourth one on the way in a future update) making it a pretty good value. These are fun classic-style platformers with great music and pixel art. Some parts of the game can be quite challenging, but overall it is a fun experience.

I had heard that the Shovel Knight series had a big following, and since this version of the game actually includes all of the games, I thought it was worth it to buy for $25 digitally. I looked up what the series was all about before purchasing and have played a bit of the first game so far. It's basically an 8-bit retro, indie, 2D platformer like mega man, but not as difficult. If that's your type of game, you'll like this series. Definitely worth $25 digitally, but the hard copy sells for $40.

If youre a fan of oldschool style nes games, i definitely recommend checking this out. The level designs, the music, the gameplay, it's all amazing and i love it

If this were just for Shovel Knight, this would still be worth the price, but then this includes both Plague Knight, Specter Knight and will soon have King Knight as well. The first 3 games are sublime old school games with a 4th on the way. This is value and a fun time

You get 5 games and they are all amazing! Shovel Knight is an amazing action platformer. It is absolutely worth the money! Now that Shovel Knight is in every game imaginable now, you have to play where it all began.

Shovel Knight is a great old school game. Some people are turned off by the old school aesthetic, but I think it fits the game perfectly. The game has an outstanding soundtrack. If you want to 100% the game you’ll find great replays value. Some people may find it too difficult at times, but there’s nothing in this game you can’t beat without enough practice. Overall a very good game!

Brings back a lot of platform memories and has great control and game play. I haven't played through it all, but the Switch makes this game perfect for on-the-go fun.

This game has so much to offer from upgrades, to feats/achievements, to the overall story line and fun game play. I would recommend this game for anyone who is willing to sacrifice some time (the main game took me 8+ hours in co-op) and a just little bit of their sanity (IT IS NOT EASY). Although it can be difficult and frustrating, I still loved the game.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove packs in 3 awesome campaigns for a low price. The game plays great and is very reminiscent of old Mega Man and Duck Tales games.

This is the premier option for Shovel Knight fans. It a physical collection of all of the previously released Shovel Knight games, plus the latest King of Cards and Showdown. All of the games are on the cart. Plus its portable Shovel Knight. If you're not a fan of the series or 8-bit (ish) platformers, then you probably won't like this game. But if you are a SK fan or a fan of older 8-bit games like Mega Man then you're sure to love this. Also its a pretty good value at roughly $8 per game.
