I never could use the microphone because I had to buy a stand with some cables. I waited 5 days to get it and when I got it, I needed two more cables to plug it, so I just decided to take it back.

Being a musician I own several mics. I mostly record guitar and “talking head” voice tracks. While I have not tried this microphone on my guitar cabinets (I usually prefer a Shure SM57 for guitar cabs), I do love how the MV7X sounds for talking. It records a very rich sound from my voice and I am able to manipulate the tracks with reverbs and effects very easily if I choose to do so. That said, you do not need to use any filters on your voice and it still sounds rich and full. Keep in mind that this microphone is an XLR mic and does not have USB so you will need a mixing board, or a capable audio interface and DAW to produce your vocal tracks.
This microphone works perfect in my home studio for recording ideas on the fly, producing full spoken word tracks, and especially social media / YouTube videos. It is built extremely solid and it definitely has a professional look for videos. The yoke tightens up easily and works on any mic stand I have tried. Whether you are using a desktop boom arm mic stand, or a floor stand, this will mount and stay put.
After receiving it, the first test I did was to connect it to my Interface, get a good record level, and just talk for a bit. It is marketed as a Podcasting mic, so talking is what I intend to use it for as opposed to instruments or singing. Once I got a few tracks into my DAW, I threw on a bunch of effects just to see how it would handle it. I used reverbs, delays, pitch shifters, and even distortion. Granted I didn’t use all of these at once, all of them sounded great as to be expected.
I am very impressed with this microphone and it suits my needs perfectly. In the past, you would need to visit a music store to get studio mics, so I am happy to see Best Buy carrying products like this. Shure is legendary in the microphone business and I have trusted them for decades. If you are starting a Podcast, have a YouTube channel, or just want to have a great way to record your voice, I highly recommend you try the Shure MV7X.

If I could give 10 stars I would.
Wow! What an amazing mic. It blocks surrounding room sounds so well that I can’t get over it. I had a lot of loud background noise, music blasting on TV and others talking nearby and none of that got picked up by the mic, only my voice.
The mic’s sound quality is superb. I even like/love the sound of my voice now. Picks up on enunciation so well.
The construction of the mic seems to be well built and sturdy.
I used a combo of software to record with the mic. So here’s what I can share as far as issues with playback volume.
The recording to the laptop program’s default recording software doesn’t playback at an audible level. I tried troubleshooting this and learned it wasn’t a mic problem but a software issue.
Tried on various softwares I use to record with both video recording and audio only for podcasting and both displayed superb playback audio. So don’t beat yourself up if you can’t hear the playback well and you’re using the computer’s internal recording option with the mic since the computer’s default recording isn’t the best for those types of recordings.
Here are many free video/audio recording softwares on the internet so that’s not a deal breaker when it comes to the usefulness of the mic.
I think I’ll be married to this mic for years to come.
Also, the mic does NOT come with any cables or connectors. If your going to use on your computer via USB you need to purchase such a cable.
You will need to change the input settings on your computer’s sound so that it can pick up on the mic itself. That was an easy switch. I was recording in no time.
Also, it doesn’t come with any software to download. Just plug and play.
Excellent mic!!

I got the Shure MV7X Cardioid Dynamic Podcast XLR Microphone hoping to solve a specific problem and it has exceeded my expectations!
I perform in an acoustic band. We use multiple condenser microphones for multiple singers and to amp up our acoustic guitars. These sound excellent but they are so sensitive that it can be very challenging to avoid feedback. In some venues we can't use them at all! So, I set out to find a cardioid dynamic microphone to use in those specific circumstances.
I initially chose the industry standard SM57 and SM58 microphones but was disappointed by the lack of sensitivity. You have to "eat the mic" in order to get any reasonable volume from them.
That's when I discovered the Shure MV7X XLR Microphone. The tone and sensitivity are perfect for me! Importantly, the off axis sound rejection is very good. This means that there is almost no bleed-through from other performers standing next to you and no noise picked up from the back of the microphone. This has almost eliminated our feedback issues while still providing a nicely balanced vocal response. The mic requires almost no EQ and seems to inherently focus on the right frequencies for vocals.
The unit is built of metal and has a broadcast style mount. This means that it might not fit on an older microphone stand even with the included adapter. I chose to use a newer stand and now everything mounts securely.
In summary - this is an excellent tool to add to your performing arsenal and at this price is a no-brainer!

This is an all-metal microphone that feels sturdy and well-constructed. It comes with a 5/8" threaded supporting yoke to attach it to a microphone stand (or other support) - included in the box is a 5/8" to 3/8" adapter. Output is only through XLR.
Vocal isolation is excellent - background noises are very effectively excluded. Their marketing claim to capture "perfect recordings in imperfect rooms" holds up pretty well.
This microphone captures speech beautifully with a rich, warm tone that sounds natural - men's and women's voices are crisp and clear without sounding too bright (there is no tinny/canned sound that plagues many microphones situated in small rooms).
This would not be a great choice for recording music (the microphone is optimized for capturing speech) - though it does an admirable job in close proximity to more intimate instruments like an acoustic guitar. The same brightness that can be so undesirable in recorded speech, and which is noticeably excluded with this microphone, is desirable but noticeably absent in recorded music with this microphone.
My only criticism is easy and inexpensive to remedy - I found that the included foam wind screen does a terrible job at removing unwelcome attention to plosives (especially t's and p's) and sibilants (especially s's). It was occasionally jarring to hear my voice sound so natural while also sounding like I was hissing my s's and spitting my t's and p's. You'll definitely want to invest in a pop filter.

The first thing I noticed about the Shure MV7X is that it's pretty much all metal and feels well built. Even the mount is well built. Keep in mind this is NOT a usb mic, but an XLR so you will need some extra equipment to attach it to your computer. This is my first foray into XLR and I'm impressed. Unlike most USB cardioid mics I've used, this one barely picks up any background noise. You'll want to be up close on it for sure, after about a foot away, the pickup falls off dramatically. If you plan on sitting across from someone, thay'll need their own mic, as the Shure MV7X doesn't pick up sound well from behind the mic at all. If you're 90 degrees from the front of it, the mic barely pics up voice, unless you are very close. This isn't an issue as you should be in front of it for podcasting/audio demos/etc. Sound and range are wonderful. It does seem to make "s" sounds a bit sharper, but that could also be from my inexperience using an audio interface.
This would be a great mic for streamers as well.
The foam windsock is included. If you're clumsy like me and tend to knock things over, it appears to be built solid and should handle some drops.
Definitely recommend!

The Shure MV7x is a great microphone for podcasting and instrument recording. Full metal construction is solid while being visually appealing. Yoke is connected to the microphone with two thumb screws and is removable.
Included in the box is the microphone itself, and a 3/8” thread adapter. Microphone yoke connects to standard boom arms but is not capable of standing on its own. Note that this microphone only has an XLR output, meaning proper XLR cable and interface are needed for use.
This microphone is dynamic, meaning it does not require 48v phantom power for operation. It is excellent at background noise rejection, resulting in more focused and clear vocals. Cardioid pattern picks up audio solely from the front of the microphone. It is best to speak closely to the microphone as it’s volume drops quickly with distance.
Key specs
Frequency Response: 50 Hz to 16 kHz
Sensitivity: -55 dBV/Pa (1.78 mV) at 1 kHz

Overall, the Shure MV7x is the ideal microphone for those looking to upgrade their streaming, podcasting, or instrumental setups
