For those of us who really skate or have skated...

I dont usually write reviews, but i felt compelled to write one for this game. I have been playing the demo, and this game makes my elderly rear want to get back on a board again. I have played the Tony Hawk series and not to bash it, but it had its run. Its time for more of a realistic simulation and not a big fantasy run on top of tall story buildings. Skate. is the alternative to the Tony Hawk series. Its beautiful. The flips, the manuals the layouts. Ive also noticed the small things like when you land a trick not so gracefully; the body of the skater lands really sketchy, like a real skater would. Pros: realistic, playability, terrain, i could on and on. Cons: the ragdoll effect when you bail needs a lot of work, amount of tricks, a bit glitchy (but im sure its because im only playing demo <fingers crossed>..Great game. A must buy for previous skaters and skaters alike.

    Fight Night for skateboarding

I bought this after playing the demo and now find myself playing it more than any other game I have for my Xbox. It plays good, it looks good...only downside as previously mentioned would be that some moves are very similair in how you do them with the control stick which leads to doing a different move than you're trying. Still recommended however, as it's a great skateboarding game that doesn't have you jump off of planks trying to get pirate gold or something stupid like that.

this is an awesome title. the graphics blow away that which is on the tony hawk series. truly next generation graphics. the gameplay if fun and original. you tend to have more control of your skater doing tricks than on tony hawk. since you use the right analog stick to perform tricks, this makes the game unique. and the customazation in this game is great. you start off by creating how your character will look like. by earning money in the game, you can customize your character however you wish. the down side to this title is the fact that you remain on the skate board all the time, which makes it kind of unreal. not like the tony hawk game where you can walk and climb on things. and also the difficulty in this game is sort of hard, because to nail the trick you have to have good precision to excute your trick. this can sometimes be frustrating. but for me for example only took a few tries to nail a trick, but to the unexperienced gamer, they will have a hard time doing the tricks in this game. but it is nothing you can't learn. I highly recommend this game to skate fans as well as those you have never played one of these types of games before. it is really fun and exciting. do yourself a favor and pick up this game, you won't regret it. I promise. and for the price it is at right now, it is a bargin.

Fantastic skate game (that is non-Hawk based)

I actually really enjoyed this game. The goals are actually too specific at times, sometimes, the goals to achieve are downright TOO difficult. But overall, it's a fantastic game. You really don't even have to go through the campaign/career mode to have fun with this game. Freeskate mode is fantastic enough to enjoy this game. The load times were what killed me. For a 360 game, the load times were slow. It kinda put a kink on the fun, but overall, it's a great skateboard game.

Skate. is a GREAT game. I suggest you buy it for children, or maybe even yourself. I am really happy i bought it, because it is very realistic. For instance, you have to "ollie" up curbs. It has a very fun story mode, but it can be really long and drug on. That may just be the ONLY bad thing.

Tony Hawk might have to share the fame

Skate is a game that pushes on the realism of skateboarding. So that means no 40ft jumps of ramps, no 1080 degree spins, no traveling without pushing the board etc. I feel that the hardcore skater will love this feature added on Skate. The only reason I see that's a downfall for skate is the lack of story (Mission here a mission there and your done). Something that's been through at least 2-3 Tony Hawk's already. Graphics, gameplay and controls feel very smooth (I was confused for a little while pushing the A botton to jump instead of the analog stick). But I feel that the controls are batter than Hawk's once getting use to the game. I personally love the game and found it a lot of fun (but I am judging for everyone here). I can see it getting 7.0-8.5 but nothing really higher than that. I feel that Skate is worth the $59.99 unless you really love Tony hawk games....

A very, very realistic game. Unlike in the Tony Hawk games, you cant do thirty upside down grab tricks with a 1080 spin before hitting the ground. I also love the fact that almost anything, even stuff you wouldnt expect you'd be able to, can be tricked off of or grinded (expect for cars...). The graphics are amazing, but not too gory. The language is very 'street' and accurate as to tricks, and how skaters talk to each other. There are a few obnoxious things though, such as not being able to get off your board. Alot of places would be muuuuch easier to access if you were able to do this. And I understand you can't just skate up curbs, but I've spent thirty seconds trying to get up and falling off of just curbs sometimes. Again, would be solved if you could get off the board.

    Best Skateboarding Game Out

Skate is the best skateboarding game out. This game is very much like real skateboarding, and is very fun. In this game you will not be able to do the insane tricks like in the Tony Hawk series, however you will get the same satisfaction by doing a simple trick such as grinding a rail. For those who have played the Tony Hawk series I believe it is time to switch, and for those who have not I believe this is the way to go. Overall, Skate is very fun, and there is so much to do. You can create your own skater, get sponcered, and even compete in the X Games. I would reccomend this game to everyone, this is a must have game.

Look I am fifteen, and well i have been skateboarding for four years. I can honestly say that this game is as real as it gets then if your actually on a skateboard. The way a skater's foot work in the game controls the outcome of the landing of the trick. That right there in itself out ranks tonyhawk. No i will say the bails are not great but they beat Tony Hwak's Project 8 by a landslide. So if your into realistic physics, and realistic skateboarding, or if your a skater or used to be, and last but not least your a gamer. Then don't hesistate just uy the game. As long term skatboarder trust me it will be a great invesment. peace Zach

I know this game isn't out yet but the demo of it is awesome! It is way beyond the known Tony Hawk games because this skating game is a thousand times more realistic and because you have to use the thumbsticks to ollie and do all that fun stuff, you get into the game soo much more. All in all it is a really realistic skating game and I would recommend it to anyone who likes having fun...

    Most Realistic Skate Game

This is the most realistic Skateboarding game that I've played. Unlike Tony Hawk, you're able to perform tricks that are possible in real life. The best thing about this game is that by using your thumb to perform the tricks with the Flickit feature, you actually have to think about your trick and practice is like you would do in real life.

I only played the demo of this game but i know that the real game will be good. This game is very different from tony hawks and in my opinion it is much much better. This isn't one of those games were you get huge trick scores and that stuff, this is like real skating, and its very realistic. This game will be very appealing to people that have actually skated before because this game is very similar to real life skating in many aspects. I will definitely be buying this game.

The use of physics in this game makes virtual skateboarding more real in this game than it has ever been before. With stunning graphics, and advanced create-a-skater mode, and a career mode lasting over 200 missions, you're definitely guarenteed quality for your dollar. This is a must buy for any 360 owner.

As Realistic As You Can Get

I've done a lot of skateboarding in my life and have always looked for a game that best personifies the realism of it. I dont have the game yet (I plan on getting it later today), but just with the XBox 360 demo I was amazed. The graphics are awesome, and the control feels real (one thumbstick controls the board while the other controls the player), and the physics are real, unlike the Tony Hawk series. I think the bail tolerance is a little to high, but this is the only flaw in the ENTIRE game. My favorite part of the game is not the 100+ missions, not the fact that you can play online with other people, but if you go to the EA Skate website and register an email and your XBox 360 gamertag, you can upload videos directly from you XBox 360, while playing the game, to your computer and people can veiw them from the EA Skate website (called skate.reel.) I honestly can say I have never been so impressed with a skateboard game, and I only played the demo so far!

I found the "Flickit" control system really cool! It is a realistic way to control the skater. But, it'll take some getting used to, after playing the THPS games for so long. Timing tricks is fairly difficult though, and the low camera angle makes it tough to line up properly, as your character blocks alot of the view. I still find it fun to play, and am looking forward to unlocking the X-Games stadium!

    Better than Tony Hawk

I've always been an avid tony hawk player....but the games started getting boring so its about time that Skate was released because this game just blew Tony Hawk out of the water. So your a skater that gets injured while skateboarding and then u get surgery and thats when u make ur characters appearance and thats when the game starts and gets good. U start out with the basic training and getting good and then finally u start to move up to competitions and tournaments. I gotta say i was suprised how good the games controls where i thought the thumbstick would be bad but apparantly its just as good as the thumb controls were in Fight Night 3. Multiplayer was cool. You can up to 8 players i think free roaming a map and screwing around and stuff and then u got SKATE TV which lets u watch other people skating against eachother in competitions. No doubt for 30$ this is definatly a good deal
