I dont usually write reviews, but i felt compelled to write one for this game. I have been playing the demo, and this game makes my elderly rear want to get back on a board again. I have played the Tony Hawk series and not to bash it, but it had its run. Its time for more of a realistic simulation and not a big fantasy run on top of tall story buildings. Skate. is the alternative to the Tony Hawk series. Its beautiful. The flips, the manuals the layouts. Ive also noticed the small things like when you land a trick not so gracefully; the body of the skater lands really sketchy, like a real skater would. Pros: realistic, playability, terrain, i could on and on. Cons: the ragdoll effect when you bail needs a lot of work, amount of tricks, a bit glitchy (but im sure its because im only playing demo <fingers crossed>..Great game. A must buy for previous skaters and skaters alike.

I bought this after playing the demo and now find myself playing it more than any other game I have for my Xbox. It plays good, it looks good...only downside as previously mentioned would be that some moves are very similair in how you do them with the control stick which leads to doing a different move than you're trying. Still recommended however, as it's a great skateboarding game that doesn't have you jump off of planks trying to get pirate gold or something stupid like that.

this is an awesome title. the graphics blow away that which is on the tony hawk series. truly next generation graphics. the gameplay if fun and original. you tend to have more control of your skater doing tricks than on tony hawk. since you use the right analog stick to perform tricks, this makes the game unique. and the customazation in this game is great. you start off by creating how your character will look like. by earning money in the game, you can customize your character however you wish.
the down side to this title is the fact that you remain on the skate board all the time, which makes it kind of unreal. not like the tony hawk game where you can walk and climb on things. and also the difficulty in this game is sort of hard, because to nail the trick you have to have good precision to excute your trick. this can sometimes be frustrating. but for me for example only took a few tries to nail a trick, but to the unexperienced gamer, they will have a hard time doing the tricks in this game. but it is nothing you can't learn. I highly recommend this game to skate fans as well as those you have never played one of these types of games before. it is really fun and exciting. do yourself a favor and pick up this game, you won't regret it. I promise. and for the price it is at right now, it is a bargin.

I actually really enjoyed this game. The goals are actually too specific at times, sometimes, the goals to achieve are downright TOO difficult. But overall, it's a fantastic game. You really don't even have to go through the campaign/career mode to have fun with this game. Freeskate mode is fantastic enough to enjoy this game. The load times were what killed me. For a 360 game, the load times were slow. It kinda put a kink on the fun, but overall, it's a great skateboard game.

Skate. is a GREAT game. I suggest you buy it for children, or maybe even yourself. I am really happy i bought it, because it is very realistic. For instance, you have to "ollie" up curbs. It has a very fun story mode, but it can be really long and drug on. That may just be the ONLY bad thing.

Tony Hawk might have to share the fame

Skate is a game that pushes on the realism of skateboarding. So that means no 40ft jumps of ramps, no 1080 degree spins, no traveling without pushing the board etc. I feel that the hardcore skater will love this feature added on Skate. The only reason I see that's a downfall for skate is the lack of story (Mission here a mission there and your done). Something that's been through at least 2-3 Tony Hawk's already. Graphics, gameplay and controls feel very smooth (I was confused for a little while pushing the A botton to jump instead of the analog stick). But I feel that the controls are batter than Hawk's once getting use to the game. I personally love the game and found it a lot of fun (but I am judging for everyone here). I can see it getting 7.0-8.5 but nothing really higher than that. I feel that Skate is worth the $59.99 unless you really love Tony hawk games....

A very, very realistic game. Unlike in the Tony Hawk games, you cant do thirty upside down grab tricks with a 1080 spin before hitting the ground. I also love the fact that almost anything, even stuff you wouldnt expect you'd be able to, can be tricked off of or grinded (expect for cars...). The graphics are amazing, but not too gory. The language is very 'street' and accurate as to tricks, and how skaters talk to each other. There are a few obnoxious things though, such as not being able to get off your board. Alot of places would be muuuuch easier to access if you were able to do this. And I understand you can't just skate up curbs, but I've spent thirty seconds trying to get up and falling off of just curbs sometimes. Again, would be solved if you could get off the board.
