Initially I bought the regular sky bell and it works like a charm, so I upgrade to the HD one and at first, was working okay but the bell will shut down all the time. I call several times Skybell customer service and they help me troubleshoot without success. So I start researching and I found on the internet that the battery that they start using swollen like a ball and push the bell from the plate and as result the bell gets no power. So I call customer service again for the 10th time explained them the reason and "magically" they remember that that's a common problem for the device.
Of course, I expect them to solve the problem and yes you guessed it! THEY DONT CARE I have been trying and trying to get them to fix, replace or exchange this device and they don't care.
So I'm in the prosses o buy a RING Bell.
RUN DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.

The Skybell got to me within 3 business day, 5 days sooner the excepted Great job Skybell and Bestbuy. This product works GREAT..it took me about 10mins to sync and add to my wifi connection..and about other 20mins to mount with wires and wedge mount which allows the camera to get a better angle/view of the front door/porch..was not excepting the wedge mount to be in package I'm glad it was, great idea by Skybell. The Skybell is added addtion to my home security and replaced my existing analog doorbell.I did not need any addtional adapters etc..Next ( most of this info will come from Skybell websites and instruction)Here's how I configured to my wireless network-you do have to be on and setup under the same SSID ( wireless signal name, which needs to be unhidden or be broadcasting so you can select you SSID )as your wireless signal name with 2.4ghz band with your mobile device (I'm using a IPhone 6 ios 8.1). You will have to type in Activation Code that is given by Skybell and will have to type you passcode/keycode for your wireless to connect. ( info on my Router)I could not connect with WEP encryption ,I had to use WPA OR WPA2-Personal and have 20/40hz coexistience enabled. After about 5mins the Skybell will finishing syncing and downloading what it needed from Skybells network and your ready to use after you have install app and created your acct thur the Skybell app ( I did this while Skybell was in sync/download mode) , after this was done I re hide my SSID in my router settings and the Skybell has had NO problem connecting. I did do a speed test/signal strength with my front door close and where I was going to mount my Skybell with my IPhone 6 before ordering the Skybell door bell, you only need 1.5mbps or better speed test result.
The app is pretty basic ( it gets the job done) and does give you a standard view and wide span view by simply rotating phone horizontally. I do have the motion sensor enable and only works if it detects that the lighten as change over a 10sec time span ( so you might miss Fed Ex or UPS if the don't press the button or stay longer then 10sec's) or if you move directly in front of camera. The mic works Great and( can hear sounds from about 15 to 20 ft away),the two way speaker works OK ( being able to have a conversation thur the Skybell is awesome), the Contrast option also work good when the background light is to bright and you want to see the person in front of the camera, the lens/wide camera view and 640x480 live video quality is Great considering the Skybell is using a low voltage power connection. The Night vision option does its job but you do lose distance (turning porch light helps) compare to normal daylight where I can see clearly for over 10 to 15ft..at 18ft I can see the color of the cars driving by and hear them..
The live video on demand/streaming is ALSO GREAT this is one of the reason I chose the Skybell over some of the other products, the Snap shot option also does want its suppose to do. 98 percent of the time when I have tested the live video streaming from different locations( also tested on home wifi)when connecting to normal cell towers/LTE/4G/3G or wifi hotspots like TWC or at resturants provided wifi I been able to connect and see video and hear audio..the places that have had issue connecting is TWC ( time warner cable)provided wifi or at HEB( which is grocery store) wifi. I know its not a speed issue because I do a speed test and the results are well over 5 to 20mbps and I'll simply turn off my wifi on phone and get back on cell services which is At&t and live video connection works like its suppose with audio, I'm guessing its a DNS restriction with those's wifi hotspots...not and issue with the Skybell device, plus I'm always able to connect with home wifi. I have had the live video on demand disconnect a couple of times after about 5mins I'm guessing it times out if there is on motion detected or no speaking going on, it has never happen when someone rings the doorbell...
The Alerts/notifcations come almost instantly when doorbell button is pushed or motion sensor is triggered no matter where I'm at.
The device itself is well made and designed. I also had no problem calling and talking to there tech support before receiving my Skybell to ask some question and even after installing to ask some more questions. I did get a firmware update which happens automatically and I did not notice any down time...
Overall after having for 3 weeks I give the Skybell a 4.9 out of 5 stars base off the minor things I have mention.
Hopefully the setup and connection info I provided helps answer some question you might have with the version 2.0 Skybell.
I defintely recommend the Skybell to all who are looking for a simple way to add a front door camera without having to drill addtional holes and run wires to area that are hard to get to... Great Idea..

This is an awesome concept and Skybell has done a good job with it.
My biggest issue was mounting it. They don't leave enough room behind the bell to get the wires secured without manhandling it to get it on the wall. My second issue would be how over exposed the picture looks in the daylight. Considering the price I expected a better picture, especially daylight.
Overall it works, it's pretty cool and adds a bit of safety to your home whether you're home or away.

I really wanted to make the Skybell 2.0 work but i have a home built in 2006 and the doorbell is digital (plays chime thru a speaker) and the Skybell just doesn't hook up. I even purchased their $13 digital doorbell accessory only to find out the holes on the accessory are too small and not the correct spacing for my door chime. I went to Home Depot and even bought a new bell, which was compatible but it wasn't loud enough for my home. Sadly, I came to the conclusion that the Skybell is not for me, right now. I hope Skybell reads this...People who buy this product are tech savvy geeks like me and as such, probably don't have outdated mechanical door chimes in our homes. I hope that their 3.0 version it is just a simple plug and play without any stupid digital doorbell accessory needed.

I was able to install skybell myself. I'm not too handy. I thought it would be an item I would end up returning, but ended up keeping. My house door does not have a peephole, so this was pretty awesome. And I don't have to answer the door half the time. I just tell them I'm not interested. Or if u are away, u can keep track of who shows up to ur door and take snap shots too. The Install is easy. The synching portion takes a bit. I recommend the sensor be turned off at night. Mine went off a couple of times in the middle of the night. I almost shot a bug for waking me up at 2am. But very much worth it. I have recommended this item to all my friends.

The sky bell was for my mom. It was easy to install and setup.
Picture on the phone and iPad is a little grainy, but works well for what she needs.
You'll want to make sure your router is a newer one, less than three years old.

Doorbell works great and I am able to talk with the person ringing the doorbell which is helpful. I have even used the video for checking on my bicycle sitting outside while I am getting ready to ride. I have received notifications on my phone when someone comes close to the doorbell without ringing it, such as the lawn maintenance crew that use a leaf blower near the door. Sometimes when I just want to see the front door the video is very slow to appear on my phone.

So far it only took my son (who is very savvy on things such as this) and I about 2.5 hours to just get the thing installed properly. Skybell certainly hasn't or doesn't take in effect that all doorbell locations are not the same so we had to do some "maneuvering" in using the wedge to make sure it was going to see whomever was at the door. We still don't know if this worked because we were unable to get it to link up and connect, etc. Will be calling Skybell tech support tomorrow and hopefull they can and will walk us thru this. I am not impressed so far with what this product is all about but maybe that will change if we can get it up and operating. So far we have one very elaborate "doorbell" and that's all. Will post another review once we get this problem resolved.........................

Let me start by saying I live in a apartment building in Nyc. This was the best investment I had done in a long time. Everything went well installing the Skybell 2.0 and I really like it. The camera quality is really good. The app is easy to use and you only need to use it when they press the doorbell or if you want to check who's outside your door. The Motion sensor works great and even my friends like it special when I'm not home and I show them my hallway there amazed. I got this as a gift and will likely get it as a gift for someone else.
Thanks Skybell

I'm sure this is a great product the reason why i gave it only 3 stars is because it had to be hardwired and the price of it for me didn't pay to spend another 200 to have it hardwired i currently don't have a bell hardwired i went with the ring wifi ... if i had a bell existing i would have kept it

Need to watch Skybell videos before you purchase

I should have watched a lot of the Skybell videos on the company website before I purchased the product. I have an intercom system in my house that provides the "digital" doorbell sound when my existing doorbell is used. The voltage provided is 48v AC and NOT compatible with Skybell. Customer service couldn't have been nicer though but after trying a few things from consultations with them and not being able to hook up the product I now have a nothing but a small bookend. Unfortunately I can't rewire easily as this is a brick house etc and any other option just doesn't work. I'm disappointed I won't be able to use this product. I gave it three stars because of the helpful customer service and I really haven't been able to use the product so it would be unfair to give it too much of a bad review.

There's a significant delay in the speaking and hearing through the speaker but it get the job done. I have to immediately say "don't reply until I'm done talking or I won't be able to hear you". The night vision is really good.

I wish I could say that I love this product more than the competitor, Ring, as it is much "prettier" and actually looks like a doorbell. However, I was not as satisfied with this product. It is not standalone and I just didn't care for it as much as the other competitor. I ended up bringing it back to get the Ring. Sorry. :(
