What is it like to have a wi-fi enabled sound system. If you are hotel sure. A restaurant, a bar… sure. An office even.. sure. A home?… I just haven't enjoyed the experience. It's whatever, a speaker that can be controlled with your phone (which you first have to unlock, swipe to the to the Sonos app, tap to open, navigate to Now Playing and finally make changes…) - If you have the NEED of having two or more different songs playing in different rooms at home or you definitely want music to continue to play while you are visiting the toilet (french accent) then sure get this - but I mean, it's just a wireless system. Nothing revolutionary or life changing. I still use my bluetooth speaker way more… if Sonos fixed their incredibly 2010's badly designed UI and allow you to hook up your Mac/PC sound output as a channel, I'd give it 5 stars. But Sonos almost ignores the fact we (normal people) live immersed in our computers, tablets, devices, TV… Sonos is more for like a gentle atmosphere for home, almost the kind of audio experience you'd get at restaurant, hotel lobby or yes, elevator… Good quality, sure. Speaker sounds great. Just nothing special to see here IMO.

I fell in love with the sun is system in the store, and despite the hefty price tag it sounded so phenomenal that I bit the bullet and made my purchase (sound bar, 2 speakers, sub, and wireless boost). Sadly, now that it's at home it really has been a disappointment. We have been tinkering with it for a few weeks to no avail. Im thinking we likely have something set up wrong - in fact we are considering having the geek squad come take a peek at it. It's just kind of blah ... no different than my old cheapo sound bar so something must be up wrong. On a different note, I do wish this could be controlled by something other than a phone app. A remote would make life so much easier for those of us that aren't so dependent on our phones to control things. Hoping with time we can get the sound bar dialed in correctly. Im outside of my return window and besides that I realllllllly wanted it to work!

    Great Sound - Terrible Software

Sound is GREAT! Software is terrible. You can not hook up to your computer through wifi system and play content from your computer. If you load up Spotify on the app or desktop program, there are a lot of steps to do just to get what you want done, not user friendly. App and Program does not allow for Spotify Radio. When viewing your playlist, it sets the oldest music first and the most relevant and newest music last. There is no way to customize this. If you have audible on your phone, you cant play it through your speakers. Again, great sound! but very very limited. For me, I would expect more for the high price tag of 200.00 per speaker. I will be returning them to the store sadly.

    Songs skip!

I am impressed with the sound quality as well as how easy the speakers were to set up. Having said that, however, I don’t LOVE them. I wish they were wireless, meaning battery powered. I just spent $$$$$$ renovating my apartment and I don’t want to ruin the aesthetic with too many wires and cords hanging around. Also, I’m super disappointed that songs skip regularly, especially when I’m playing songs stored on my iPhone. On some occasions, it skips every single song like clockwork after only playing it about 30-60 seconds. If I had known this, I wouldn’t have bought the speakers.

The product is a great product but very stubborn in what it does. If ALL you want to do is listen to good sounding music from it, then buy it. However, it lacks Bluetooth and an audio connection to work as a functional speaker for other things. Not necessarily a downside, but very frustrating since it could be a great product if the company embraced it. Tried several unofficial solutions to use airplay and stream audio to it, does not work. If you need more than streaming from it using the app, I suggest looking at its competitors.

    Good Sound Quality but Complicated

Given the price, the sound is good. The wifi-based speaker has pro and con. For key pro, you can use your phone as a remote control, while the music is played directly from the speaker itself. This means your music will not be disturbed (from the speaker) by text messages or incoming calls. For key con, wifi disconnects pretty frequently and sometimes I need to restart my routher. The app keeps saying that I can't add my music to my queue. This happens quite frequently recently. Personally, cons outweigh pros in this case.

I did not like the fact that you must be connected to wifi to use this speaker. Not always an option for us and intended use. I just wanted a bluetooth speaker but with this I had to download the app, sign in, and navigate the app to play music. I never did figure out how to play apple music and I got frustrated, gave up, packaged it back up and returned it. Sound was great and there were some nice features but did not work for us.

I bought this Speaker for our Studio as background music. The design manager who controls the music was not able to stream her playlist from her Free Spotify Account. Did not say that anywhere or I would have not bought it. She was not going to pay for an account to stream music to a work speaker. Hooked up old speakers with headphone jack.

I bought this mainly for a patio party I was having. The speaker would initially connect, but could not even make it through one song without dropping out. I even tried to move it to a window where it was basically line of sight with my router and it still would not hold the connection.

Speaker should have been discounted more as they cannot load most recent software on it to be able to use Airplay. Also if you get Sonos One to pair with it you cannot use as stereo. Must buy another play1 to create stereo. Good sound for one small speaker.

We'd bought a set of these hoping to have wireless stereo for both audio entertainment and for our television. While testing it out, we happened to turn on the LCD and noticed that the single built in speaker in the TV was far superior. The concept is great, but the execution wasn't. At least not with this speaker. They got returned the next week.

Sound is excellent, however, songs are routinely clipped before the song completion. Very frustrating. Reading forums revealed that this is not a new issue. Sonus did not or has not replied to my request for a fix.

The Play 1's carry the background music and the music overshadows the talking from the main speaker. So far no one has returned my calls or inquires on how to adjust the Play 1's. In fact, I could have saved the money spent on the Sonos system and gotten the same sound from my new TV

i have to re-sync my phone with the entire Sonos system every other week. You would think with the price of this item it would be more reliable. I have the Boost, sound bar, subwoofer and two surround sound speakers in one room and a Play5 in another location. I am very dissatisfied with hifi capability.

Wish I had done more investigation. Cannot believe the very high rating that these speakers receive. They are ok at best but I bought 5 - that's $1000 and the result is not worth the money for sure. Sure wish I could return them but it's too late for that - I'm stuck.

Tried Sonos. Not a fan. Sound quality is mediocre at best. Expensive if you use them as surrounds in a 5.1 system. If you choose to go down this path, be sure to adjust balance even after sound optimization.

I was disappointed in this item. While the sound is pretty good, you are tied to using it through the Sonos app, which limits what you can play. You can't just play anything from your device. I would recommend a traditional bluetooth speaker.

I had to buy these to compliment the mono sounding Sonos bar. Yes it made a difference, cool that they are wireless, but not cool for the price. A very expensive upgrade for the sound they put out.

Product would not stay connected with my main Sonos system. Additionally, requires to be plugged in via a bulky cord to work...does not have a rechargeable battery option, which is annoying for a portable speaker.
