Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 55" Class 4K Ultra HD TV's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and ease of use. Many appreciate the 3D capabilities and the effective upscaling of lower-resolution content. However, some users find the remote control somewhat difficult to use, and a few have noted concerns about input lag for gaming. While some consider the price point high, the overall positive feedback highlights the TV's strong performance in key areas.

    Best 55 inch from Sony

First kudos to the Magnolia team at the Pittsburgh Mills store. Always the best. I have been to BB quite a bit over the last two weeks to upgrade my Sony 850B. Still a great TV, but looking for some of the new features available. I actually got a smoking deal on the LG B6 OLED. It was between the 930D and the LG OLED. With the right price how could I resist the "best TV available". It is a great tv, but I thought it was actually dull to look at with regular cable/sat programs. It had good processing and motion but was missing something. In my game room it just was not bright enough. I did use the top settings available for the OLED. So I returned it and brought the SONY 930D home. I was a little worried because I wasn't returning this one. I am much happier. Great contrast levels, vibrant colors and super processing. For my application and I do believe daily tv watching this is the better set for me. I will give the OLED better black levels, but everything else I prefer the 930d. The black levels are good for this type of tv. I like the color much better on this set. Grab one…..you will not be disappointed

Very happy to finally have this TV. Nothing beats Sony color technology. And if you love deep blacks, then you'll love this TV. Slim Backlight Drive is phenomenal. You can really see the zones constantly working to keep light only where it is needed. Which I love for when I am watching Blu Rays that are in widescreen format. This also really makes certain items pop more like logos and words. TV is also very easy to set up and it is extremely thin. Very happy to have this more than an OLED TV.

    Incredible Upscaling

This 4K TV provides incredibly crisp picture quality for SD/HD programming. The upscaling quality is very impressive. And there is no soap opera effect with the out-of-the-box settings. I am also a big hockey fan, and there is absolutely no judder on fast action sports. With plenty of 4K content available over YouTube, I am loving this TV.

Best 4K UHD on the market!

After much anticipation and reading tons of reviews I went with the Sony 930D over the LG OLED and the Sony 850D. Sony has this picture figured out in the 930D model. The Android menu is great and very easy to use. My wife and daughter also love the apps and extras. People talk about the backlight problems Sony had on previous models but I can assure you the 930D does not have any sort of lighting or color issues. I'm a big sports fan and also love movies in a dark room. This TV is by far the best Sony flat screen I ever bought.(6 now) I suggest reading Best Buy reviews as well as Amazon reviews. They are all supporting of my argument. Best 4K UHD on the market!

I've been wanting this TV since the day it came out and today I finally Ordered it at Best Buy since they didn't had any in stock in the store so I have to wait 4 Days for Delivery. But this 4K TV has an Outstanding Picture with its Slim Backlight Drive and HDR Pro and Deeper Blacks is worth it for the Price.

    Best Edge-lit TV...period!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My review needs to be seen through the context here. This is an edge-lit TV, and thus, it can't produce the deeper blacks of a OLED (which has its own flaws, such as not being very bright), or a full array LED TV (which uses far more power and the panel is much thicker), but for an edge-lit TV this is the best you can buy. First, this TV has arguably the best local dimming of any edge-lit TV, giving very good blacks for the most part. At times it rivals a full array TV in producing deep blacks (and sometimes it rivals even an OLED). Furthermore, Sony has the nod over both LG, Samsung (slightly), and Vizeo in the vibrancy of the colors. The LG OLEDs are very, very close, but again, this is an edge-lit TV and it is $800 cheaper than the cheapest OLED at this time. Also Sony has the best 4K-upscaling technology (only buy a hair over Samsung, but it is still the best nonetheless). It also has 3-D, something that neither Samsung, nor Vizeo even offers anymore. LG does offer 3-D, but their LED TVs are no where near this quality as of the time of this review. The panel is also the very thinnest you can buy for an LED. It invites comparison to an OLED in this regard. So, best local dimming, best colors, best 4K upscaling and 3-D thrown in, not too mention the most aesthetically pleasing panel due to its stunning thinness. This is really a great TV and worth the price. Wait until they go on sale though. You can get one at BB for roughly $1600.00 (I did through price matching) and it is worth every penny. I do want to say that the one negative is Sony tech support. They are not what they used to be. Samsung does have better customer service (I have 4 Samsung TVs, including 2 premium TVs) and that might be an issue for some. Still, this TV can be dazzling and nearly intoxicating when watching 4K-HDR movies. You won't regret buying this TV.

    Excellent Television for the price

You might think this set is expensive but its not for what you get. This TV is incredible. Matches OLEDs in quality for fraction of the price. Purchased a Vizio M55-D0 because of the low price and it was a giant mistake. HDR in name only. Returned it and paid twice as much for this Sony and it's worth every penny. If you're serious about 4k w/ HDR and plan on purchasing an Xbox One S or other HDR compatible device, getting anything less would be a waste of money.

Stunning picture best other than OLED that i have seen. Very bright compared to other tv's Nice looking set. Very thin. Android TV works great. Remote could use a record button. Really hard to complain about this set. Very very very little clouding and flash-lighting for a led tv.

I agree with those who comment on how beautiful the picture is, regular HD or 4K. I also agree the remote is terrible and I'd take away 1 star for that alone. Amazon to the rescue. Last year's remote was good enough and available on Amazon. The old remote works perfect!

I purchased this TV after weeks of research. Stared at the OLED for hours and finally bought it to replace the 46" Sony I had for 7 years. I am SO satisfied. Used a tech site for custom setup and cant believe the results. The picture is incredible with anything 4k or HDR, great with Comcast although you can tell the difference and will seek out 4k or HDR content. The sound is typical flat screen and I immediately hooked it to the Bose soundbar. GREAT JOB SONY

    Good TV but has issues

Picture quality is great. The TV looks really nice - build quality is great. The sound is subpar and I would suggest getting at least a soundbar or higher quality sound system. I even appreciate a lot of the functionality of the AndroidTV OS, though I think this OS has some stability problems that needs working out. The biggest issue I have with the TV is that it restarts on its own. Sony tried troubleshooting it by suggesting it's a power issue and suggested I replace my surge protector or go straight into the wall. However, even after doing so, the problem persisted which leads me to think its a software issue more than a hardware issue. Also, the Netflix app has failed a couple times which forced me to delete my google account, clear the memory for the netflix app, then sign back in to netflix, then sign into my google account again. This is all because the netflix app is a different account than what is linked to my google account...which is frustrating and annoying to have to do more than once. For this reason, I say if you're really into Sony and want a Sony product and can deal with some of the software shortcomings, go for it. But looking back, I'm kind of wishing I went with the KS8000 instead.

    Great TV, Terrible customer service

I purchased the top of the line sony smart tv, 3d dvd player and the ht-nt5 speakers. It's great when I get it working properly. I have spent many HOURS on the phone with sony trying to get everything well integrated. Only one person has been able to do that for me at Sony. He got the TV and sound bar working properly and told me if I bought a Sony DVD player that would integrate on the same remote and work well. I went out and bought the blue ray 3D player and once again it was a mess. None of the Sony techs have been able to make it work, probably because the don't seem to know what they're doing. The response is always can I hold for a moment and then they come back to the phone and still don't have the answer-I'd like to get the one person there who seemed to know what he was doing and fixed it remotely. I think I, after much frustration, have finally got it operating okay. Otherwise the sound is very good- nice bass and highs and nicely in sync. I would highly recommend this if the service were better.

    Mostly Satisfied

I bought the XBR 55X930D 55" and loved it out of the box. I have not had to make any adjustments although I'm sure when I get around to fine tuning it will only look better. I have had two issues with the set and have been in touch with Sony. The remote control has had issues when selecting the Action Menu. It seems I have to power down and up again to get it to work properly. This happens every time after the set has been turned off for any period of time. I have also noticed burn in impressions have appeared on the screen in the off position. It does not seem to effect the image when the set is on but could be a warning of issues to come. I must say Best Buy has not been great about answering my questions pretty much telling me I have to deal with Sony since I did not buy their Geek plan warranty. Definitely something to keep in mind when deciding if to buy through BB. If anyone has any potential remedies for my particular issues I would love to hear from you.
