The amount of processing power they pack into this TV (X1 Extreme) is beyond incredible. The game mode will absolutely beat out any of the QLEDs. Now, I understand completely that PC gamers on a 144Hz/1ms response time will still have the competitive edge. But as someone who rocks a high sensitivity, the game mode on this TV is buttery smooth. As always, Sony also blows it out of the water when it comes to HDR signals. The amount of contrast they can achieve without it being an OLED (like sunlight next to a shadow) and the intense brightness of it in a dark room will completely knock your socks off! Samsung advertises Game Mode with Freesync but quite frankly that doesn't matter when your processor cannot keep up with motion. On paper, a QLED (Q60-90) will technically feature a better respose time by about 4 ms. However, this figure is theoretical and doesn't matter when the screen tears on fast-moving scenes. In other words, the power of the processor directly correlates to picture quality, and it just isn't there on the Q engine. Sony on the other hand plays a major role producing content and partnering with professionals such as popular game developers and Dolby for mastered audio. They also film a lot of movies with Sony cameras going from lens to living room. Bottom line is unless you're buying a G-Sync OLED, this TV and their new X950G and X900H are by far the best LED's on the market, and although black levels aren't perfect the amount of brightness and differentiation between colors and objects on the screen being remastered makes up for the loss in black levels. Unless it's OLED you CANNOT get better blacks without sacrificing contrast on your brights. As for Android TV, you don't have to like it. Get a 4K Roku or an Apple TV if you want a faster smart platform. Android doesn't take much to run and won't pull efficiency from that processor. Beautiful picture quality that boasts the best in the industry. Thank you, Sony!

I originally bought the X850E but wasn’t quite thrilled with it. So in the end I returned it for the X900F. Best Buy’s return policy was extremely simple and very easy. This TV has an amazing picture, great black levels, great contrast and I like android OS. This TV is also future proof as it has all the latest HDR standards (HDR10, HGL, and Dolby Vision. It’s well worth the money. Highly recommend

Upgrading from Samsung KS8000. Was really debating between the x900f, the LG SK9000 and the Samsung Q8fn. Wanted to somewhat future proof my purchase so decided to go with the Sony or LG due to wider HDR support. After reading reviews for days among multiple sites, I purchased the X900f. Setup was a breeze, longest part was downloading the available updates. The TV automatically found my Samsung MS 650 soundbar through the ARC HDMI port and switched audio to it. A lot of complaints about Dolby Vision only supported through built in apps, however, my Xbox One S lists TV as Dolby capable through HDMI. I can only assume people have their setup wrong. I'm pleasantly surprised with TV. I've noticed a vast improvement in almost all areas over my old ks8000. The only drawback is that it's a dimmer TV so I keep it set to vivid and that's good to me. I use a Roku box for streaming, not the Android TV system, as it is not great and the remote for the TV is very busy. I'll update this post after a longer time with TV.

This TV has A+ picture quality. Although I’ve only had this for 5 months, if you’re looking for a 4K TV that won’t break the bank like those LG Oleds then do yourself a favor and pick this up. The downside to this TV is a very crappy Android OS that is filled with bloatware and lags often. DO NOT get this TV if you’re thinking of using it for its OS as you will find yourself pulling your hair more often than not. For me, I am not interested in using its OS which is why I hooked up a Chromecast Ultra to eliminate to use of the software. I do want to mention that even though is has a crappy software, the picture quality is really really good. Blacks are as black as you are going to get without getting an OLED. Overall, TV is great for what it’s suppose to do which is to show videos and pictures at a very high quality. Just don’t get it for the software as you will be disappointed.

At the time of purchase I spent about a week searching for an all around TV upgrade, and this met all my expectations. 4 hdmi outputs with 1 eARC and 4K UHD, HDR @ true 60hz refresh rate.
I have to say it has some minor flaws but totally passable for the common person. Remote control could be better with the capability to customize buttons.
This was a major upgrade from my 10 year old Sony Bravia.
The refresh rate is impeccable.
HDR gaming is bright and colorful.
The sound quality is really clear and adjustable on its own.
I stream almost everything from youtube, youtube tv to Disney+ off of the Chromecast Ultra or Ps4 Pro. There are some slight differences in picture and fps so your experience may differ.
IMO, Superbowl LIV was like watching a movie.
I do not use the built in apps due to preference, I'm sure it's great as well, I just have my doubts on it.

I purchased this Sony X900F to replace an older, line topping Sony XBR set from 2009. I suppose I could write a really "techy" detailed review to add to the others here, but instead will simply summarize by saying that the new X900F is truly amazing, with vivid sharp colors and a clarity that makes even low grade non HD content come to life. (Ultra HD content on this set on is another level altogether) I probably took about 20 trips to Best Buy to compare each of the sets, and researched all of the different levels and brands. I feel really great that after all of the planning and research that went into this that I made the right choice. Though I probably also said this back in 2009, it's hard to imagine consumer level TVs getting too much better than this, and the small differences in set performance from this to the considerably more expensive OLED versions don't (as of now) justify the step up in my opinion. Unlike otherwise similar purchases, this is one that actually looked better in my home than in the store. I did read some of the negative X900F reviews as you probably have, so also purchased the protection plan and had the GEEK squad deliver and set it up just to be on the safe side. I have, so far, experienced none of the glitches some say they have and am completely blown away by the performance of this set in every way. I almost wish I could say something negative as a constructive criticism, but this set, to me, is virtually impossible to fault. If you're in the market for a new 4KTV, I don't see how anyone wouldn't love the X900F. Go for it! You'll love this set!

I purchased this model to upgrade from my older Sony to have HDR10 capability. The picture quality is truly amazing. Movies and games are crisp, sound is pretty good (but I have it routing through my Bose soundbar instead) and setup was quick and easy with my Samsung smart phone. One of the best models for anyone who wants a premium gaming experience. Takes full advantage of xbox one capabilities and ps4 games pop. I'm a super happy spoiled gal!

The Sony X900F is a decent HDR tv for the price. I have had LG OLED B6 and B7, and I'd say this Sony is pretty much on par with those. Light blooming issues (only 48 dimming zones), but they don't bother me that much-- mostly noticeable on credits on a black screen and white logos. Also, for having supposedly the best processor out there, standard cable can be inconsistent at best for quality. Sometimes shows look almost HDR on cable, but usually I see a lot of blurry lines and artifacts in shows. I'm pretty sure the upscaling of older shows is directly done by the processor. Overrated, but still pretty good "Xtreme" processing. This tv can somewhat do the dreaded "Soap Opera Effect" (I actually like the SOE), but it's not as pronounced as many 1080 or above pictures I've seen (but FAR more noticeable than on the LG OLEDs I had, for a comparison). All in all, about what I'd expect these days for $1299 (when I paid). As always with ANY brand tv these days, buy the extended warranty! 2 year plan is all you need. 5 is wasteful (you can just buy another 2 year warranty BEFORE the first 2 year expires if you feel like you need to), but you SADLY can't just buy a $1400 (after tax) or more tv today and be sure it's going to work and you not throw your money away. Unfortunately, I just factor warranty cost into the price of any tv or big ticket item. It's come in to play for me the last 4 tvs I've owned. Decent HDR tv for its price. If I could have afforded another $1,000 when I bought this I probably would have gone a different direction.

I have always loved Sony TVs. I bought this to up the size of my other 8 year 49” Sony TV that is still going strong.
What a huge difference in picture quality! The HDR is awesome! And the Dolby Vision is noticeably more contrast in light areas.
The dolly output to my amp sounds awesome as well.
I just wish it wasn’t android powered I am not a fan. I understand it’s basically free for companies so I can live with that.
Don’t hesitate just buy it, you won’t be sorry.

Once you adjust all your settings for the best 4K HDR color This is a wonderful TV to watch. I have alway had great success with Sony TV's and this one is one of the best.
I Prefer the picture quality and colors of this X900F BETTER than the new X900G. I was able to see them side-by-side without knowing with the same signal feed and the X900F looked the best.
The X900G is supposed to be better for refresh for gaming, but my XBOX looks great to me.

I selected this TV after much research in a search for a 55" TV for our living room. Having owned a couple of Sony XBR, and one Samsung LED TVs, I quickly narrowed my search to these two brands. Given my budget of $1500, it became apparent to me that this TV was the best bang for the buck. It has a great picture, awesome contrast, wonderful black levels, and the ability to display Dolby Vision now offered by Apple TV. It also has Google built in, if you are into that sort of thing.

I love my Sony XBR55X900F 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV with Alexa Compatibility. The picture is always clear, excellent sound, the ability to connect with all of my peripheral equipment, works very very well with Alexa and has many excellent features, etc. Only minor issue is that my universal remote seems to work sleightly better than Sony's, or any of my other ones for that matter. The tv was priced ok. I highly recommend it and know that you will enjoy it. This is my 2nd Sony in a row, my last i had for 17 years with only the $30. lamp being replaced a couple of times. I felt it was time for something more modern and i am not disappointed!!!

Amazing television at a stellar price. Excellent 4K HDR and Dolby Vision support for the latest Apple TV and PlayStation 5. Some blooming is noticeable in dark scenes and in the letterbox bars on the top and bottom, but is to be expected on such a display as it is not OLED. That aside, truly a great purchase and very satisfied.

This is a quality TV that you can depend on right out of the box. Amazing picture quality, easy to use calibration, and a remote with a microphone! For local dimming, minimal to no banding, unnoticeable judder, excellent darks....this unit seems like I’ve paid a lot more for it than I did. Excellent bang for your buck!

Great picture quality and was easy to configure--about 15 minutes tops. The TV really comes to life a night. The colors and detail pop. I am very happy with the purchase. I bought it on sale for $1299.99 and its worth every penny. Highly recommend. I can't comment on the sound because I bought a Sony soundbar that works great together.

Easy setup, I brought it home, had it unboxed and setup in about a half hour. The picture is sharp with excellent black levels. I have it in the family room where the light levels vary and it handles potential glare like a champ. I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now, and I am very pleased with it.

I cant say enough about this television. The picture is stunning. Fantastic contrast and very black blacks. If you're debating on this versus a OLED, save your money. You might be able to see the difference in the store but, in my opinion, you can't do much better viewing it at home.

Superb video quality and color management - that's Sony TV's best features over all others. The 900F has a really good over the air TV tuner. I get over 45 channels just using an indoor 4K antenna. The uncompressed network HD channels look much better than the same compressed ones on cable. 4K HDR movies in cinema pro mode are as good as it gets on an LED panel. Wall mounting is fairly easy. Setup is quick. The only areas of improvement: the table top stand is too wide; Android TV software and the streaming apps are poor, unstable, and privacy intrusive. I wish Sony would use other vendors such as Amazon's FireTV 4K; the reference manual is inadequate, Even with the minor flaws, this TV's video quality and overall value are outstanding.

Clarity, Contrast, sharpness, colors and ease of operation are excellent for this 55 inch Sony 55X900F. Was comparing to Samsung NU8000, and LG SK9000, but after seeing in person in store, and at home, I'm sure I make best choice.
