I didn't want to break the bank when replacing an older receiver in my home theater but I needed something with HDMI inputs to run a new Blu-Ray player and projector. I also have a PS-2 and Wii which still use RCA plugs so it also had to be able to accommodate those systems. Setup was fairly straight forward once I figured out how to hook up the older RCA type plugs, and the receiver delivers great sound throughout the spectrum and is very user friendly with on screen prompts for everything. I am not using the full 7.2 capabilities at this time, but I have surround sound with 5 speakers and the sub woofer. I never had this sound quality with my old receiver! It also will adjust the levels for all the speakers to find the best sound for the space. The remote has the capability to run all my accessories, so I don't have to have separate remotes all over the place. This is an excellent receiver for the price!

Has great sound through Klipsch speakers and subwoofer. Many features including Bluetooth and WiFi. Watching Youtube videos on my tablet or laptop and sending the audio to the receiver through Bluetooth works great. So much better than listening to it on tablet or laptop speakers. The setup was easy with the supplied microphone and worked well. Movies played through the receiver also sound great. My old Sony receiver is 23 years old and still working good. Hope this one lasts as long. Overall a great sounding receiver with many features for a decent price.

I am a serious audiophile and have owned pioneer, kenwoood, and onkyo receivers in this price range for the money there is not much better that the sony strdn860 4k receiver produces really high-end bright and crisp sound. 7.2 channel surround soumd offers true emersion into your music or movie and with the 2 woofers it can output near perfect base while not overpowering your surround speakers. The autocal mic gets the distances nearly perfect, and you also get the sony 4k upscaling chip which creates nearly the best 4k image, bluetooth feature with the songpal app conviniently allows you to completely control the receiver from for iphone. This unit even turns itself on when you turn on equipment pluged into it such as your dvr or blueray player only complaints are that that the songpal iphone app cant turn the receiver on however it can tune radio channels switch inputs from cable/sat, blue ray ,etc even turn off the unit, that it doesnt support siriusxm but if you have internet listning on your phone you can get around that with the sirius xm app. This is one of the best receivers i have owned

The Sony receiver exceeded my expectations. It has many features, produces excellent sound, allows 4k pass through,and is easy to use and set up. We bought it with a Sony a4K TV and they privide high quality, rich sounds abd 4k pictures as the receiver is 4k pass through. The price wad reasonable and the quality is excellent. If you want a 4k TV, you need a 4k pass through receiver if you have a blu ray player.

I was initially reluctant to buy a Sony receiver, not considering it "high end" after owning Adcom components and recently a Harman Kardon 3600. But my HK surround stopped working after only 3 years, and I had trouble with a previous HK. Well, I have to say this receiver sounds better than the HK. Set up was easy, and the features are great. I'm using a pair of Polk Monitor 10B's for my front speakers, and Polks all around. The sound is open and natural. I'm running a sony 3D blu-ray connected to an Optoma projector, and the experience is awesome. I'd buy this again in a second.

Does everything you read in the detail section, pretty good sound and loud as well. I like the Bluetooth feature as I use this to listen to Spotify on my phone through a quality receiver! Auto calibration mic works good to adjust your speaker levels.

This receiver does it all, multiroom with multisource. Bluetooth control and streaming from phone. Plenty of HDMI connections for gaming and video. Great sound and easy to use!!

The STRDN860 is easy to setup providing all your devices are HDMI. It lacks component inputs but has basic audio/video plugs. Once everything is plugged in, It has a user interface on the TV to guide you through the setup of audio settings. This receiver has the option to transmit audio to bluetooth headphones. This is a feature I did not see on competitors at or below this price range. I found the instruction manuals to be lacking and had to go online to get more detail on features.

Purchased this for my apartment and replaces a Denon AVR-S500BT, the network functionality is excellent and produces much better sound than the Denon. Also should not that I live in an apartment and I do have to tone it down for the neighbors...lol Also, the setup is easy with the onscreen guide and the HiRES audio sounds excellent.

This unit was bought to replace my older Sony home theatre unit that died after 15+ years. I hooked it up to my original speakers and everything was up and running in about 1/2 hr. I had to Call Sony tech support to work out a few bugs because I didn't understand some of the instructions. The more I use it the more I learn and enjoy it.I would give 5 stars if the instructions were included.

I wanted to replace my existing Sony receiver with something that could handle HDMI inputs. This receiver has five HDMI inputs and is 4K compatible. The set-up was super easy! The unit comes with a microphone that you plug in and a mode that automatically adjusts the speaker settings to get the sound perfectly suited for your optimal listening. I love that! Sound quality is awesome, and I also love the fact that this is wireless compatible and has built-in Bluetooth. There is an app that you can download to control the system from your phone and also to stream music from your phone via wireless or Bluetooth. I am extremely pleased with this receiver and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality, yet affordable Home Theater Receiver.

Was looking for a receiver to replace my current system. Needed something that would work with my new TV. Wanted it to turn on and off based on the TV power to make it easy to use for my wife. This system fit the bill. Provides great sound for all my sources and can handle a two way HDMI connection from the TV. No regrets.

This is a solid piece of equipment. I first got the 1060, but then found the multiple zone setup a huge overkill. One of the nicest features of this receiver is that it wakes on AirPlay, so there's no need to be fumbling with the remote. It is also easy to configure, yet the fine tuning is really what takes a while. I am not an audiophile and this is my first A/V receiver and home theatre, so I am sure there are a lot of better options out there. But based on reviews, this was the only one that wasn't worth a ridiculous amount of money. Plus the free BD player offer from Best Buy was too good.

We got a new Sony UHD TV and this AV/Receiver because it links and communicates Via HDMI cable with the TV. This AV/receiver is great for 98% of the population that want something easy to use and that has good sound at reasonable levels. Keep in mind that no amp will sound good if you have junk speakers. That being said it sounds very good with the speakers that I have. I couldn't find much info in the owners manual so I went online to get more info on some of the features. Its works well and sound good.

This receiver is very good for both music and movies. Is very easy to set up, Just follow the on screen guidelines and you are good to go. The most amazing feature i love so much is how it can transmit to a Bluetooth speaker. Go for it and you will never regret. Thanks to Sony for that!!!

After reading several reviews online for several receivers, we finally decided on this one. The set-up was easy. The sound is excellent. It was the perfect addition to our theater room.

I got the receiver for 279 during a deal of the day. Very good price everything seems to work. The manual well there is none to detail certain advanced things that you would like to know about the reciever. And also something I did not know until after I bought it. There is no AM stations. Other than that it has a lots of the latest features for a reciever at a very reasonable price....... Peace

If you are looking for a good quality receiver at a fair price, this one is easy to use and easy to install.

I researched this unit and found it a great buy, especially over the STRDN1060 which just adds a few more ports but this definitely had enough for what I have and the networking features work great! I live in an apartment and if anything its probably a bit much as I have to tone down the volume and the bass on the subwoofer thats connected to it but thats okay, the sound this receiver puts out is excellent, it does not have Dolby Atmos but for my living conditions thats not a deal breaker.

Purchased this for a friend and they couldn't set it up properly. Just went through the instructions and all was fine. Once it's plugged in the instructions pop up on your tv screen. One hdmi cord from tv to receiver then everything else connects to the appropriate plug in location. Sound is great with the right speakers.
