Anxious to purchase this lens seeing that I don’t have a full frame dslr. Works great with with my A6000. Not to heavy of a lens, but heavier then standard kit lens that come with the camera. Not a big deal for me. Can’t wait to get a A7 series to take it to its full potential.

Amazing lens! Picture quality is on par with its more expensive 70-200 2.8 cousin, and in some instances, even sharper. Don’t let the f/4 scare you, it’s plenty good even all the way open. While it’s a stop slower than the 2.8, the picture quality and autofocus is stellar. Little to no barrel distortion and excellent build quality. Perhaps the single greatest advantage over the 2.8 is the weight—-very welcoming for all day shooting!

This is a great lens for the price. It takes great photos and capture low light better then the 55-210 kit lens. The huge 72mm front element is crystal clear. The lens focuses real fast and never misses. It also is an internal focus so no long zoom.

Excellent telephoto for an A7R2 owner

Purchased the Sony F4 telephoto to replace an old Nikon AI manual zoom lens which I adapted for use on a A7R2 camera. The lens has increased the number of keepers that I get due to lens stabilization and auto focus. The F4 speed is also not a limitation because the lens is primarily used for outdoor work where exposures are between F5.6 and F8. For extra reach, I often use the APS-C crop factor of 1.5 to extend the far range of the lens from 200 to 300mm (1.5x200), which is a nice feature for nature shots that I would have ordinarily cropped. All in all, I find the lens to be very good for my needs.

I rented the lens previously and had good results as a newer hobby photographer. The internal zoom is good for walking around and weight is hefty but balanced enough to be ok. Definitely do not buy from Best Buy, internal theft and general dont care attitude runs rampant and I have yet to have any resolution on an order "label printed" from a week ago. Online chat is a joke as well as calling central support.

Before switching completely to Sony A7x series, I needed something that could replace my 70-200 f2.8 "pro" lens that had never let me down when I needed "the" shot. After only a short time, I decided that this is it. Solid construction and image quality doesn't take a backseat to anyone else's lenses and the weight and size make it much nicer to carry.

I upgraded from my Nex7 to the Sony a7 this year. I needed a lens matched to the full frame a7. I used an 18-200 for a while, but it did not capture the full frame photo. When I became aware of this new 70-200, I looked at all the reviews and decided to give it a try. I immediately noticed that it was perfectly matched to the camera, was quick and responsive and my photo quality improved immediately. I will still watch for a 300 mm lens, but I am really happy with this lens.

I did a lot of research on this lens before purchasing and I was honestly on the fence as to whether to buy this one or the G master 2.8. I knew I would be using it indoors about 40% of the time so the low f stop of the G master would have been very useful, but I couldn't see spending right at $1100 more. Turns out I made a good choice! I am very impressed with the sharpness and color with this lens as well as the bokeh. It obviously doesn't perform as well in low light as the G master 70-200, but the sony a7 series cameras perform so well in low light it's not a make or break for me. This lens is incredible for nature and portrait photography and the quality of the image is beautiful

I really love this lens. I chose this over the f2.8 version for the weight savings and $$$ savings. For landscape photographers it is great to have that 70-200 range in a lighter lens and one that takes up less space in the bag. It is very sharp across the whole range.

When I bought my first camera, the Sony a6000 back in 2017, it came with the handy kit zoom lens 55-210mm Zoom (variable f/4.5 to 6.3). Which was convenient for learning and even taking some good wild life pictures. But as I learned more, I wanted to take more pictures in lower light conditions, and I knew the 70-200mm would help out with the constant f/4. It isn't a cheap lens, but after using it I could tell it is truly worth the investment. f/4 isn't it's sharpest aperture, but it grants more leniency in lower light conditions. With my Sony a6000, given it's an APS-C with 1.5x crop, the 200mm gives more "reach". Lens is a bit heavy, but feels solid and very well built. It has weather sealing, and good optical image stabilization. If using it in Full Frame Sony Cameras, you can program its 3 extra custom buttons. You can change manually its stabilization mode (following moving subject, or static subject while you are moving).
