Great zoom lens, super sharp. I use this with a Sony A7ii. Very fast autofocus. Good bokeh at f4. Constant aperature makes a huge difference. Unless you are a pro photographer I can’t see spending the additional $1100 for the f2.8GM.

If you want a telephoto zoom lens that works great for almost the same quality and even cheaper than the f/2.8, then I'd highly recommend looking closely at this gem. I love it for both video and photography.

This lens is great for when your subject is far away. The lens is perfect for a press conference, or graduation ceremony. It's got really great weight, you'll need one hand under it for support. Comes with stand to rest it on flat surfaces. Photos are dead accurate. All boxes checked for amazing performance.

I had this lens on my mind for almost a 2 years and have been using a 70-200mm Canon on my A6500. So i decided to pull the trigger to get a native sony lens. and all i can say im glad i did. the auto focus on getting native lens is just spot on!

Wow what a great lens. focuses very nice, the lens very quiet. And the len’s zoom is very smooth. The lens is very sharp. Len is a little heavy but is manageable. Overall I am extremely happy with the lens and would recommend to a friend.

I chose the Sony 70-200mm f/4 G instead of the 70-200mm f/2.8 GM because it is 1/2 the price. I can buy another lens or two with those savings. This lens is much lighter too.

Pros: constant F4: af/mf switch: good performance out to the edges. Much better pi.x quality than sel 55-210.
Cons:heavier & bigger than sel55210. AF can be a bit slow if it has to make large adjustment, but otherwise AF is excellent.

I purchased this lens open box and have not been disappointed. Much sharper than the zeiss 24-70mm. Autofocus works well, and with the 1000$ cheaper price tag the f4 doesn't bother me at all.

This is an amazing lens. The f4 aperture is not a discouraging factor. I work in a studio or outside and shoot around f7’ish anyway. Save the extra grams on the 2.8.

Had Canon heavy 2.8 version of this lens and loved it. Growing to appreciate the lightweight of this lens and shooting wide open at F4 I’m getting good results.

the build quality is just way above what I have expected. the price just may not be the best but just holding it makes me impressed.
even though most of the time I don't need to zoom that much I want to carry this thing around because it feels great and looks great and functions great. plus it makes me look like a professional.
the zoom is just right for those locations that you would need to get in real tight. optical steady shot is very helpful for those zoomed in views. im not sure why its white vs black like all the other sony lenses in the alpha series but oohhh well.
you should have this in your bag.

A gorgeous lens, and a must-have in any photographer's kit. The f4, of course, is not quite as spectacular as the 2.8, but for outdoor shooting it's less of an issue. The G button on the barrel, unique to sony's lenses, is a stroke of genius.

Super sharp lens even though it’s a G master series. Currently have it on my a6500 and surprised how sharp it is on a cropped sensor camera. Can’t really compare it to a G master since I’ve never owned one but for taking videos of my daughter’s soccer games, this gets the job done no problem. Definitely recommend it for those looking to get a lens longer focal distances. Lens feel sturdy and well built as well.
