I purchased the A6100 to supplement my Sony zv1 for creating YouTube and other content. Let’s just say the ZV1 supplements the 6100 and it is not only due to the interchangeable lens, but they serve two completely different purposes. I primarily use the 6100 when I am shooting in large spaces and need some versatility. It gets the job done. The auto focus works well even at a distance and combined with a 35mm lens the shallow depth of field blur is superior to the feature on the ZV1. For me it is too heavy for vlogging which is where the ZV1 comes into play. Plus the ZV1 is sustainable with an external battery pack while the 6100 continues to deplete the batter even while connected to an external battery pack but slower. If you are looking for a great beginner camera for live streaming to me this is a great place to start. The mic input (I primarily use it with the Rode Wireless Go or Rode Video Micro) is a must have feature for me. I simply plug the mic into the camera, run the HDMI output into my capture card (the hdmi is clean) and select the capture card output for sound and video. The sound is clean and it reduces the need to do post video audio work. I waited patiently for the right deal and Best Buy came through. The kit lens gets the job done for most of my applications but I have purchased a 35mm prime lens for some talking head work and will purchase soon a 16mm lens for some other applications.

I had my eye on the canon g7x but heard this camera was a dupe and decided to purchase it and really liked how the pictures come out and easy to carry.

It's a great super-feature rich camera. I know professional photographers talk about it as an entry level professional DSLR camera. It has a nice feature of allowing your iPhone to remote view and remote control camera off the camera's built in WiFi. This is great for professional quality selfies. This camera is packed with features and has tons of buttons all over the place. That makes it somewhat complicated to get used to using. But the superb picture and video performance makes all the effort of learning how to use the camera worth it. For me the biggest reason I got this camera was it's ability to take professional 4k videos for v-logging. Lots of phones can take nice 4k videos under bright sunlight, but if try to take videos under low light or indoors under low light you start to get disappointed with the amount of static that starts to show up in even the best phone video cameras. I originally purchased GoPro Hero 8 with Vlogging Media Mod (total cost of $380), but then I was heavily disappointed with the grainy static looking 4k video quality on lower light videos. So I returned it and got the Sony A6100 -- much much much better. The Sony A6100 is a compact DSLR camera that can take 4k videos comparable to what you expect from a $1500 Canon professional camcorder for about half the price. But unlike the $1500 professional camcorder it takes great still photos. Many digital DSLR video cameras hard limit video recording to a maximum of 30 minutes because their compact case isn't built for the heat build up that might happen beyond 30 minutes. The Sony A6100 has no such hard limit. The only limit is that when you go beyond 30 minutes you won't have enough battery life to go much longer and you are more likely to trip the camera's overheat sensor, which will then promptly stop the video recording. I spent another $150 in "case relay" brand accessories to allow me to go for several hours of continuous videoing in moderate temperatures (up to 90 degree F not in direct sunlight) So I'm happy. I get professional DSLR quality still photos and professional quality 4K videos in one device that costs under $800. It's kind of the entry level for an all-in-one device that meets both professional phots and professional 4k video needs.

Quality is so good. Definitely would recommend this over the canon g7x. Cheaper, and takes just as good, if not better pictures. Easy to transfer pictures. Takes about 10 seconds via Bluetooth, so you don’t even need an adaptor.

i am an amateur, self-taught photographer and have found that this camera is pretty user-friendly, especially when you figure out how to tweak the settings to your liking. decent battery life, easy to use, and not too heavy to bring around for travel!

I use this camera daily for picture taking and video work. The weight is perfect and the ease of taking pictures is second to none. I have other cameras at a higher price point that don't capture 4k video with as much ease as this one.

wanted something a little smaller than my previous canon rebel and love how compact this is! takes great photos - has a built in flash. if i had to choose one thing i would change, it would be that the digital screen could be turned and folded in to be protected when not in use. However, not a deal breaker for me. Happy with this purchase!
