Customers enjoy the Alpha a7's superb image quality, compact size, and lightweight design, finding it easy to use even in low-light conditions. Many appreciate its affordability. However, some users point to the battery life as needing improvement, and a lack of a built-in flash is also noted.

Sony a7 Full Frame Camera

I am a very beginner with photography and know very little about cameras, so take my opinion with that in mind. I did do quite a bit of research though before making this purchase. Because I wanted to do landscape photography, from what I've seen a full frame camera is a good choice. They are more expensive though for the most part compared to smaller sensor cameras. This particular model has been out since Oct. 2013 and Sony has since come out with newer versions of this camera. The Sony A7 has 24 mp. I plan on learning and practicing quite a bit with this camera and if after a years time I feel like an upgrade is justified, I may sell this one and upgrade to a newer version with higher mp's. We'll see when that time comes.
I bought the kit version which comes with a lens. I actually bought an "open box" camera from Best Buy, at a $300 discount. It was supposed to be in excellent condition. I received it within two days of purchase, which was awesome. But it was missing some accessories, and it had some substances on the sensor which was causing dots on the photos. I used the camera clean mode but it wouldn't come off.
I called customer service, and with no problems at all they overnighted me another camera, which was in excellent condition and had all the accessories. It looked virtually brand new to me. Free accessories came with the camera, which included an additional battery. From what I've researched battery life is an issue with this camera, so the extra battery + is needed for an all-day event. There are many excellent video reviews/instructionals on-line. It's probably worth your time to watch them if you are thinking about making a purchase. Overall, I am very pleased with the camera, and Best Buy's service and price.
I included two photos. They are in jpeg format because there was a limit to the size of file that I could upload here. The raw format has much better pic quality.
Thanks for reading!

I'm not professional photographer and was looking something better than point and shoot but didn't want professional or entry level DSLR. Also was looking for full frame camera. With A7 getting great pictures and video. It's not touch screen so you have to navigate with buttons. Touch screen would be nice to have but not deal breaker. For my shooting needs battery is more than enough. Was reading reviews and bought spare battery but never used it. Great pictures in both low and bright light. The only thing I really miss is flash. Sometimes it's really needed in dark environment.

This is my first ever camera. The Best Buy DI team recommended me this product for something I am doing; street photography (@pringraphy). I am in love- even though I don't know that much about it, yet. The camera feels nice. It has a great grip, great clear screen, easy setting navigation, and the bundle was the perfect package. The lens it comes with is good. I will be purchasing the 55-210mm for farther zoom. A full frame, mirrorless camera is highly recommended for those who wants better than just a point and shoots.

Best Buy Sales Rep was excellent. Customer service is the worst in the industry. Won’t buy again from them.

Bought this camera to replace an older DSLR that was not used frequently due to weight and size. The compact size, light weight, and improved IQ due to being FF camera & 24MP makes it easy to carry around for everyday shooting as well as a travel camera. The kit lens is not spectacular, but does the job. Only wish the battery life was better, definitely need to carry a few extra batteries around.

This is a great camera to setup with if your testing your luck with the pros. This camera is full frame so what you see is exactly what you capture when you take a photo. Great color details! There are even built in effects that you can play with so no need for photoshop for easy effects. I took this camera to Disneyland and the pictures came out great! However do invest in a good flash to go with this camera but this camera does take great photos in the dark with out a external flash. I'll be buying me the next setup from this camera real soon! Love Sony!

Well, I've had more than a few cameras during the past several decades. As a kid one enjoyed taking pictures in iron horse rides from Boston to Vancouver. As a youth, in the old Workers' Paradise I'd buy the best Soviet products. Often these were goods from East Germany, Poland or Prague. Around 1981, after the Dec. 13, 1981 Revolution in Warsaw and the incarceration of countless thousands, I returned West. Suddenly one commenced utilizing standard and various other cameras. Then, one progressed to Sony and Canon products.
When digital with memory cards entered the market I picked up a 5 mg Sony for about $1,300. It was bought from the International Mall. Other brands in our home were mostly Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic.
Having bought items, such as an Xbox and other items for my granddaughter, from Best Buy, one was often in their stores. Thus, besides hearing from friends, reading in cyberspace and obtained foto magazines, I caught conversations in Best Buy's camera dept. These were enlightening.
Consequently, educational levels and knowledge advanced. When the Sony a7 came out, it soon became evident that a new era had been born. Did one want to advance into tomorrow's high tech; go from the horse and wagon to autos? I didn't reside in such a habour long.
The Sony a7 has been utilized at graduations and numerous other functions. If you seek better fotos the Sony a7 might be the one for you. There are too many positive factors about this newbee to continue typing. A suggestion would be to test drive this new mirrors Sony a7. Correlate the feel and view with others. In all probability, if you do that, you'll never go back.
As for cons: The battery life could be a wee bit longer. Also, a changer could enhance the changing of batteries during weekend fun/ work. It would have been nice if such were included. However, for the cost, the Sony a7 out weighs all other considerations.
Would I buy the Sony a7 for a loved one, such as a wife? Yes. Emphatically, yes!
This is the perfect item for the beginner. Lastly, the pro will figure he's got a good deal. He'll also require additional lenses, if he seeks, for example, distance.

Excellent quality photos. Video is decent. The camera itself is easy to use. I bought the kit lense but looking to get a Zeiss lens.
Battery life is shorter due to mirrorless which is one disadvantage.
Other than that great camera.

This is a pro quality camera. You can use it with your existing lenses with the adapter. ( not included) It handles very well with controls in the perfect spots unlike some DSLR cameras. Being a mirrorless camera the view finder is much brighter and the camera is smaller and lighter that the top of the line DSLR cameras. It has a full frame sensor with 24 megapixel resolution. Great camera!

After debating between Canon or Nikon, I decided to go with a complete wildcard and got the Sony A7. With this mirrorless full-frame, I get the high quality capabilities of a professional DSLR but without the bulkiness, in a compact size! And because I'm also planning to travel a lot more starting this year, this was the clear choice for a beginner like me to get my feet wet in the photography world

I have been a long time user of Nikon DSLR and they are still great cameras but I wanted something smaller and lighter. This camera not only does that it also take fantastic photos. Full frame and 24 MP. Even with the kit lens my shots are great.
If like me you are coming from DSLRs there is a learning curve but with a little effort the transition is easy. The layout of the wheels and buttons make adapting to a new camera very easy.
