Smart TV Functions are not ready for prime time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Bravia as a replacement for an older plasma TV with a Roku attached. As a television, it works pretty well. The picture is sharp, viewing angles are decent and there's not too much blurring when the action is fast (I watch a lot of sports.) As a Smart TV, it's pretty bad--worse than a low-end Roku in every respect. My Bravia is connected to wifi via a brand new Raptor which sits behind the wall on which the TV is mounted--maybe 3 feet away. The TV routinely loses contact with the wireless network, requiring a tedious process: setting up the wireless (as if it were new), then refreshing the internet content. I find I have to do this once a day or so. When the connection works, applications are slow. Pandora takes about a minute to load, much of that staring at a black, blank screen wondering, "Did it crash?" Trying to surf YouTube videos is also slow--even typing on the soft keyboard lags. I haven't yet tried all the features--those requiring a login to Sony's website were buggy and glitchy. The built-in media player is extremely basic (and the documentation in the on-line manual is worthless.) I've heard Samsung has better performance for smart features. Wishing I'd gone that route.

TV RELEASED WAY TOO SOON
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV SHOULD have been a great buy; after all it is Sony. It looked great in the store. It IS a 4K. Since it was just released May 8, you'd figure it has the newest and best technology wouldn't you? WRONG. The picture looked great. However, the TV kept freezing up. Who wants to keep unplugging the TV to fix it? Nothing would work; not the remote, and not the TV controls to even turn it off! Upon calling Sony, they admitting that this model has had 4-6 software updates since May 8, 2015. Now I didn't have the TV online at all, so I didn't update anything; true. But, I ALSO had tried using a USB port, and nothing worked. Sony admitted that THAT ALSO would be fixed if I did a software update. Sony did admit they are "still developing this tv." Bottom line: Don't get this TV unless you have the patience and plan to constantly do software updates, and even then, hopefully they'll work out ALL the bugs so to speak. I had read reviews with this problem, but figured since I'm not online and wouldn't use the wifi it wouldn't bother me. WRONG. The inside parts are different on this TV; it's ANDROID and they haven't perfected it yet; (or even come close.) VERY FRUSTRATING SONY, ESPECIALLY FOR $l,000.00 TV. I returned it for another one of the same model the first time, thinking I just had a bad one. WRONG. The second model acted the same way. I returned it and got an older 2014 model 4K Sony 55" TV without Android, and so far it hasn't given me ANY problems! It pays to call Sony and compare their models.By the way, I still don't use the wifi, but at least on the TV I now have, everything works:)

Terrible picture compared to LG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very disappointed with this TV and unsatisfied with the whole experience of purchasing it in general. I bought an LG first and purchased a 5 year warranty with it. The picture went out after only a year and a half, and it was decided that the TV would be replaced rather than fixed. I was told over the phone that I had to bring the TV in because of its size (47 inches), then found out once I got there that if the TV is over 42 inches, you don't have to bring it in. Then, I found out that the same model was no longer available. I had to find a different TV and purchase a whole new warranty, then I get home and the picture is terrible. It is a 48" smart LED TV, so I thought the picture would be clear, but even the words on the screen appear blurry. I have adjusted all of the settings, and it is still disappointing. I would have returned it but really didn't want the hassle after already going through all of this twice in less than two years.

"No signal" problem.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love the picture, but less than a month after the purchase, an error message appeared . I'm still in the process of trying to sort it out. Unable to use the set for two days now. Tried trouble shooting myself. No luck. Called Geek Squad and after over 30 minutes, while on hold, the call was dropped.

All of the apps disappeared in under 30 days.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy rep no help. When they deliver the TV they tell you to keep the box for thirty days in case anything happens. What they don't tell you is this is for certain members of Best Buy. When all of my Apps disappeared Sony was no help only telling me to do a software update. All software was up to date. I called Best Buy after spending over 40 minutes on the phone with Sony, and the Best Buy representative had a nasty disposition and told me that I could not return it because it had been over 15 days. Best Buy you are turning into Circuit City. I suggest you train your employees to know the policy.

I should have stuck with Samsung
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased a Samsung online to pick up in the store. When I got there after talking with a salesperson about the TV I purchased I decided to look at others while I was there. I ended up leaving with a Sony Bravia 48 inch based off recommendations from the salesperson. I should have stuck with my original purchase as I had two other Samsungs that have excellent picture quality. Also, I was misinformed by the salesperson as well regarding some information. The clarity on the Sony was not what I expected at all even after adjusting and I had HD and an HDMI cable. The Geek Squad came to check it and needless to say they recommended to return it since they checked it and everything was set correctly and the clarity was still not good. I returned it to another store based off my overall experience at the store I made the puchase at and I received good and true advice from a Magnolia Rep and I walked out with two Samsungs both 4k and one being a 55-inch curved.

Check the Mount
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't comment on the function, we never turned it on. Beware, the attachment points for a wall mount are very low on this TV, leaving the wall mount hanging down below the TV. Very poor appearance.

Television with almost NO features.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen display is definitely beautiful. The issue is that there are almost no exciting apps. Netflix, Hulu and YouTube are included, but nothing else of entertainment value. Definitely would need to pair it with a Roku to get anything exciting. Also, too expensive for the lack of channels.

TV Rocks - Sony APPS don't!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome picture, but not a very "smart" TV. You cannot sort, and there is no way to search apps, so you have to browse through 100s of miscellaneous junk. There's no rhyme nor reason to how they are organized. This is frustrating for dyslexic people, like myself, who prefer to view things ABC, 123. Also, there is no internet browser. I waited months to write this review, hoping that an update would correct these issues. No more Sony for me, until their developers write the simple code to fix this.

Quit connecting to Netflix & Amazon
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tv never worked that well. I continually had to refresh internet content to get the NETFLIX and Amazon apps to show up, and most of the time they wouldn't connect to the Sony servers. I use my tv to get movies from the internet providers, and this tv fails miserably.
