After shopping around, I found this Sony sub at Best Buy. After hooking it up to my new Sony receiver, it has surpassed my expectations for the reasonable price I paid.

This Sony replaced an old Paradigm sub I've had for years. The build quality looks very good, typical of a Sony product. A couple items I'm going to nit pick though. It takes a little longer then I would like to wake it up in the auto mode. I have to crank up the volume on my amplifier right away to wake up or the music plays with no sub for a bit. I think another reviewer mentioned this as well. Next the wire connectors for the Speaker in/out are too small. Heavy gauged wire is not going to work. As stated these are nit picks. I'd give 5 stars if it weren't for these minor issues. Don't hesitate to purchase at this price point.

Using it with an Onkyo 7.2 home theater. Replaced an Original Onkyo that was larger in size but this Sony is smaller /lighter and way better is loudness and dept of Bass.I highly recommend this product.

I mean really-How good can a $99 10 inch sub be? Didnt expect much,wasn't even on the site looking for subs but ran across it on the 'deals' page.I am and have been a firm believer in 'we can always use more audio equipment around the house'...never enough but maybe wifey feels otherwise(lol).Do i need it no but hard to pass up at that sale price.Good reviews from Best Buy site,also from a few other sites,snagged one,had it hooked up in 30 seconds,maybe 35 and wow this thing is legit! Sounds phenomenal for its size,looks good,blends well with current set ups or on its own! Great buy at $99 easily worth the regular price too! Currently ordering another,as stated above never can have enough audio....lol,buy it.

Good entry level sub.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This sub has clear clean powerful bass that is more than enough for home theater system, however I strongly recommend only using this sub with an AV receiver that has a subwoofer out channel and letting the AV receiver handle doing the crossover processing. I have two of these and they produce for me a better rumble than a THX movie theater experience. The two things I don’t like about this subwoofer is the the built in crossover is not so great on regular speaker channels and the rear port keeps you from putting the power and speaker connections against the wall.

It took a bit of fussing to set the cross over and gain correctly to match my other speakers, but in the end it sounds good. I had tried a different brand and had issues with 'auto on' feature dropping out all the time with older movies and audio from TV. No such issues with the Sony woofer. Not as compact as my old woofer partly due to amp and electronics being on the outside of cabinet. Still smaller foot print than many. We'll see if electronics on outside helps longevity.
