Disk drive add on , comes with taller feet . Definitely a must have for Gran turismo 7. I prefer disks.

I bought my sons a PS5 Slim a couple of years back and then one day the disc would not eject. I took it apart, pulled the old disc out, and put the disc deive back together. It continued to make the clicking noise and would not play any discs we inserted thereafter. I was hesitant about purchasing this, as I couldn't find any clarification if it would be compatible with the PS5 Slim with the disc drive. I used my BB rewards to purchase this and it clipped right on, updated the hardware and now our old console is like new again. I am happy with the result.

Works just like any PS5 that already comes with a disc drive. No issues with Blu-ray or game discs. If you can catch it on sale it’s a fairly inexpensive way to add this functionality to your digital only PS5/PS5 Pro. Easy to install and you can’t tell it’s an add on.

For folks that bought a PS5 silm digital and want to upgrade it to play physical media, this will work fine. Yeah, it is a bit loud during the first 15-20 seconds of reading the disc, but after that, it's fairly quiet. Also, it is nice to know that if your PS5 silm's disc drive fails, this is a easy to install replacement. Those of you that bought a PS5 pro (like me) will be upset because this should have been included with the device. For that reason alone, I have to drop a star off this review. So, it depends on what your situation is.

Not including a drive with the ps5 pro was a crummy cash grab, but the device itself was easy to install and works. Only complaint is it’s 2025 and disc drives are still super loud.

I added this to my PS5 Slim Digital for watching DVDs and Blu-ray media. Easy install, recognized and initialized with no issues. I played some old home movie DVDs, worked perfect. Very happy with this addition to my setup.

I am going to start with that I needed to watch a YouTube video on how to properly remove the panels from the PS5 as I felt like I was going to break them. The provided instructions DON'T give an accurate description on how to remove them, like that scene from HP:HBP when they are trying to make the liquid death. Other than that, once the panel is off, the drive is fairly simple to install. After you connected the disc drive, the panel slots in a little easier than the flat panel. Future of gaming? Yea, I built enough PCs to install 5in floppy, 3.5in floppy, CD-RW, HD and Blu-ray drives. PCs have all but phased out disc drives, yea you can still buy them (both interior and exterior), however its getting a little more costly since the "industry" is basically trying to move to "all digital". Consoles are still making options for with and w/o disc drives and this is going to start being the norm for consoles as well. I, for one, prefer to keep disc drives not just for nostalgia reasons but to have a physical copy although that copy seems to be a glorified "key" in some cases. I got this because the PS5 pro comes without a disc drive and I have many hard copies of games that I could not install because, well you probably already know. If you don't, digital and disc games are treated differently, as if they are two separate games. The physical game disc must be in the drive in order to play and it does not matter if you own the digital copy. Sony gave away FF7 remake, I already owned it. When I chose to install the digital version, it was treated as a different version. TLDR: Look up a YouTube video to see the proper way to remove the panels. I got the disc drive, it was easy to install.

When they announced the PS5 Pro, I was a bit disappointed they were going with the discless design. Sure, I don't buy a lot of physical games anymore, but I like having the option if I see a good deal. This addon allowed me to install a disc drive onto the PS5 Pro and it works great. Best thing about the product though is the ease of installation. I am not always thrilled when I have to do install stuff myself, but this was incredibly easy and I only had to read the instructions once. If you want to add a disc drive to your PS5 Pro (or disc less PS5 Base model) then this is a solid purchase.

Purchased this to use with my PS5 Pro for my PS4 games. It was super easy to install and works perfectly. It doesn't detract from the profile of the PS5 aesthetic, and it includes clips for horizontal storage. Playing my PS4 games on the PS5 Pro is great! Everything the advertisements promise.
