I love PlayStation 4 I play every day but it did not seem complete. Until I purchased The PlayStation camera I love it I can do lots of hands free stuff and I can stream live online now my PlayStation is complete with this cool camera. Glad I took a chance and purchased it now I am complete. Thank you

Camera allows easy installation and provides face recognition to startup the system. Sony Playroom is fun at first but gets repetitive. I haven't really seen any new CAMERA games. Camera also works as a microphone in gameplay. Voice commands are basic but work well. Some games, such as FIFA 15, allow for in-game voice commands such as formations or substitutions. It's not a must have but will enhance your experience.

I like this camera, but it's not perfect and Sony needs to fix a few issues.
The picture quality is decent. It's 720p, which isn't as good as Xbox One's Kinect (1080p), but it's also $40 cheaper than the Kinect and not required with purchase of the console.
Better than the picture quality is the voice commands. You can say "Playstation" and it'll allow you to do certain things, like starting a game or turning off your PS4. It has 4 microphones, so this area really stands out.
The camera also tracks the light on your Dual Shock 4 controller. I haven't seen many games actually utilize this yet, but that's cool to have.
Moving to the issues, there are more problems than I expected. First is that you can't turn off the microphone for the camera. So if you're in an online game, everybody will hear everything from your living room. The only way to fix this? Unplug the device. I bet Sony will eventually add some options to deactivate the microphone in online games, but for now, expect everybody to hear you.
Voice commands also work on and off for me. When I have a game running, voice commands don't work, even when I'm on the dashboard.
My last big issue is that there isn't a lot of support for the camera yet. It looks great, but there needs to be more ways to use it.
Overall, I do suggest buying this. It evens the gap a little bit between PS4 and Xbox One. That said, be prepared that the camera just isn't ready for public yet. To be honest, the PS4 in general isn't totally ready for public (needs a lot of updates).

you can use this to give your ps4 voice commands, play move enabled, publish a stream of yourself while streaming gameplay to twitch/ustream or even use it as a microphone for online games. It all works very well.

Not really! At least I don't think they are.
If you're going to do some interactive games, the Sony Playstation Camera is a good addition to the package. It's not as much as the other guys (Xbox one) camera is and its fun to use it with the included interactive robotic dudes that you fling out and they dupey all over your floor until you vacuum them up in which case you have an internal view of your controller that you can torture the little guys with a few shakes. Oh!, don't upset the one that looks like Wheatley from Portal 2. You may get some flame action from him if you knock him around. Yeah, it takes the camera for the Playstation to know if you're doing that. Enjoy! It's a lot of fun until you're done!

it is real cool to have the camera automatically sign you on the ps4 with face recognition and and you can use your voice to control the ps4 and if your into recording gameplay on twitch or ustream you can record yourself in the video and the playroom has some cool games to play with the camera and these games are free and one more thing is you can use this camera to put your face in the game with nba 2k15 and thats cool but if i had any thing to say that wasn't good is not many new games have camera support but other than that its a cool companion to the ps4

The PS camera is a great improvement over the PS3 Eye. For the price the camera provides a lot of functionality with the PS4, the most notable of which is live game streaming with voice. Beyond that feature, the virtual reality functionality with the Playroom is a lot of fun and the facial recognition login is also a neat addition.
The microphone is also pretty solid, but for in-game online multiplayer, a dedicated headset would be preferable.

The camera is a pretty awesome addition to the PS4. It has facial recognition and voice commands. It's very easy to install (connected via USB port on the back of the PS4). The bots are fun to play with too.
As mentioned in the title of my review I would have given it 5 stars if you could video chat with your opponent during game play. Hopefully Sony will make this an added feature in the near future.

I got this when it was $39, which was a great price. Not much you can do with it right now game wise, but it's a must have if you like to live broadcast your gaming. I use it for PS4 commands and NBA 2K games. I did some research about the future uses, like Project Morpheous and I'm looking forward to more content that uses it.

I purchased my camera the same day I got my PS4, and BB had a sale going on them as well to sweeten the deal.
Since I set up of my PS4 and the camera at the same time, my wife and I have only ever used the system with it. And I couldn't help but feel like I was missing something if I hadn't bought the camera. Setting up to scan your face and other users of the system (with their own User Accounts) was quick and painless and it's cool to turn on the PS4 and have it log in whoever it sees is in front of the camera. It will show you live footage from the camera and ask you to pick the person who you want to log in if more than one registered user is in view of the camera at time of the system turning on.
With the built-in microphone, you can setup the system to pick up on your voice (each user has to set up their own) and give the system commands, such as; powering off, loading games, etc.
A fun add-on app with the camera is The Playroom. In here you can play with different robots in your living room (or whatever room the system is set up in) with A.R., Augmented Reality. This app definitely shows off the cool new specs of the DualShock 4 controller, like; with the built-in speaker you can hear the robots inside of your controller as you rotate it around, or using the mutli-touch pad on it to interact with the robots.
My wife and I are still waiting on more games to come out that really focus on use with the camera but all in all, if you want to use your PS4 to it's full potential, I would pick one of these up.

This camera is so much better than the single eye camera Sony released with the PS3. It is more interactive and responsive. Your to not only set up facial recognition but voice commands that are active all the time if you choose to set it up that way, including in the games. That's right you can call time out out loud and the game responds, need I say more!

The title of the review isn't geared towards an audience specifically. To be fair, Sony has not heavily supported this peripheral. Even in last-gen, the PS Move was under-developed, and not widely supported, even after Sony tried to gain ground on Nintendo's Wii. The price is horrific. I happened to have a $15 off coupon of a PlayStation accessory, not to mention the $20 Best Buy knocked off for Black Friday. I would say I got it for a good deal. Had it not been for the coupon(s), I don't think I would have gone for it.
I am glad that I did, however, as it is a nice edition to the PlayStation 4. It adds microphone functionality (which I have been told, sounds crystal clear during Chat). I was able to scan my face in to MyPlayer in NBA 2K16, which adds to the in depth realism of an already top-notch game. This feature has been available since last season's game, but not until recently had it been advertised. And not by who you would think. Retail stores have been seen selling together as a bundle, in order to push these units out the door. Hopefully more games come out that put you in to the game, and the Camera is more widely supported, or this add-on will see the same failure that the PS Move saw.

This is a very compact camera that easily fits on top of the tv. The picture is clear and the mic picks up my voice clearly to use voice control. It is good for streaming your gameplay or whatever to Ustream. Unfortunately I'm yet to see what games make use of the camera.

I had the camera for about a week and returned it. There is nothing particularly wrong with the camera - the image quality was great. Being a new PS4 owner, the features of the camera are irrelevant to me and my type of gaming. If you have kids, they'll love it. This item is a must for most kids games, too. If you enjoy broadcasting yourself for no apparent reason in Playstation's Playroom, have at it. I'm sure as I become accustomed to the PS4 and add more friends, I'll find myself repurchasing for the share play - broadcasting with your friends while you both play a game. It is awkward in shape, but then again so are most things - nothing was made to fit perfectly in our personal living space. Also, make sure you have a medium to large sized living room. The setup for the camera likes you to have 8 feet of open space between to camera and anything else.

As of early 2015, there is no need for the PS4 Camera with Microphone. I saw it on sale for $40 and jumped at the chance to try it. It opens up voice control of the Playstation 4 menus with its microphone (which varies in how well it recognizes you, I barely use it) and the free games in "the Playroom" are interesting toys. The camera is a huge improvement over the PS3 Eye because it has much better resolution, a larger coverage area, and better low light detection. The playroom toys show off the capabilities of the camera, so I am excited for the future when developers use it.
I haven't used it for multiplayer yet or the other social sharing abilities, so I'll stop here.

When on discount, this is a good purchase. It's fun to play the free game that works with it and use it as a microphone if you have no other. There should be more games that utilize the camera, but there aren't. That's the only bad thing.

great camera for what it does. The problem right now is that not many games actually support it. I could see it being used for NBA 2K15, Tearaway, The Playroom, and maybe alien isolation. It's fun to have but extremely niche at this point

Niche product. Great if you like to Twitch stream your games. Games are very limited that make use of the camera. Great for kids but definitely not worth it at regular price.
