Hate myself for buying thise headphones, they are a piece of crap. The sound is good, the noise cancelation is good … IF … you can get them to sync with whatever you’re trying to connect them with. The app from Sony you need to use to connect to whatever is worthless, it keeps you going in circles until you finally give up and go looking for your old headphones. I will stick and buy Bose from now on as I should have when I made the mistake of wasting my money on this Sony headphones.

I bought these headphones instead of the Bose QuietComfort 45 which I originally intended to buy. These headphones don't have good noise cancelling and the sound quality is very poor. They had an app that supports spatial audio but you are required to pay for them. It's not worth it.
We regret to hear that you are not satisfied with the headphones. Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. For optimum performance, make sure that the software version of the headphones is up-to-date (via the Sony Sound Connect app). It is also recommended to wear the headphones properly.
Sound quality may vary depending on the source content. You have the option to use the Equalizer/CLEAR BASS setting of the Sony app to fine-tune the sound quality depending on your needs. For more information, please refer to this link:
The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. When the Adaptive Sound Control on the Sony Sound Connect app is turned on, the wearer's actions, like walking or running, are detected. The noise canceling function is automatically adjusted and the Ambient Sound Mode may be activated according to these actions. To make the most of the noise canceling function, turn off the Adaptive Sound Control, and try to turn on the noise canceling function manually when you need it. With the Sony app, check the setting of [Ambient Sound Control]. If it is set to [Ambient Sound], the effect of noise canceling is reduced. Set it to the noise canceling mode.
Your feedback about the supported apps of the 360 Reality Audio is also appreciated.

Sony’s reputation as a premium consumer electronics company usually means its products have prices to match. So, I was wary of their relatively affordable WH-CH720N headphones. You get what you pay for, right? But after using them for a few days those fears abated as I concluded they possessed a surprisingly excellent cost-to-value ratio in both sound quality and features with a few points deducted for awkwardly designed control buttons.
The box opening sets the stage – it’s satisfying but not excessive. The no-hassle packaging is environmentally friendly minimalist but possesses a quality-feel too: break a paper seal, lift a tab and their lays your shiny new headphones ready to go. No charger is included since most everyone has a drawer full of USB chargers. (You can also charge via any USB on your computer). However, since these headphones incorporate USB-C for charging, a USB-C to USB- A charge cable is included in case your chargers are all USB-A. Also in the box is a mini headphone cable if you want to listen hardwired rather than wireless or your device doesn’t have Bluetooth but does have a headphone jack. Using the cable theoretically should raise the sound quality even higher sound since Bluetooth audio has its bandwidth limitations.
Out of the box the headphones are ready to pair with Bluetooth devices. This is done either directly through your device or with Sony’s Headphone Connect app (iOS & Android).
A QR code inside the box lid makes finding the app easy. (I use an iPhone, so my experience here is with iOS, but I imagine Android is similar). Using the app is optional, however, it adds a few extra features to the headphones like a user-configurable equalizer (presets are available too) and support for 360 Reality Audio for use with music services like Tidal or Amazon Music Unlimited that feature this technology. It also has what Sony calls “adaptive sound control,” which, as I understand it, tracks your location and surrounding to determine the optimal level of noise canceling.
Personally, while I love tech, I’m not a fan of apps that track location. We all know why, manufacturers do this. So, while I briefly accepted terms-of-service so I could try adaptive sound control, I ultimately decided I valued the illusion of my privacy more than this feature and turned off location sharing. Everyone’s situation is different, and the adaptive sound control function is interesting, but it’s also not essential to enjoying these headphones.
The build quality here is basic ABS plastic. On the positive side, this makes them exceptionally light and comfortable to wear. The foam earpads are a reasonable snug density, though it could stand to be firmer for longevity and eco-friendliness. I do wonder about long term foam compression here. For fit, they can be extended up and are highly flexible horizonally so they should fit almost any size head, tiny to ginormous, from probably 5 years old and up.
Operation is simple. The headphones can be paired to multiple devices. The first device, presumably your phone, will automatically pair when you launch the app. Additional devices can be paired by pressing the power button for 5 seconds. The power button is on the left side along with the headphone cable jack and the USB-C charge port. The right side has all the user controls – volume up, down, mute. These double for forward, reverse, and, if you use Alexa, summoning Alexa by way of multiple presses or short press vs long press. Siri does not seem to be compatible as there is no mention of it in the app or help guide and I couldn’t get her to respond. The Bluetooth connection seems very stable. In my use – again, crowded urban environment, I never encountered static, hiccups, or disconnections.
If these headphones have a design shortcoming it’s with these buttons. They are bunched tight against each other with minimum tactile feeling to differentiate them, something needed when you are pushing buttons you can’t see. They are also a bit sensitive. For the first few uses I would accidentally mute rather than change the volume. I even muted as I adjusted the fit. That’s a bit frustrating. Ultimately, muscle memory kicked in and I overcame this flaw, but that is a learning curve and one of the low points of this model. This could be a reason to not buy these for someone who coordination difficulties, hand issues like arthritis or carpal tunnel, or has partially numb fingertips. I can also see frustration controlling these headphones with gloves in winter.
The features of these headphones though, not including the ones in the app, are impressive for the cost. For me, the battery life ranks first. It just doesn’t quit. Sony rates it as 35 hours, which I thought was crass marketing. But I soon recognized it as truth. The first time I used them the battery was at 60%. A couple hours later it only dropped a couple percent. Next I fully charged it to 100% and let them play non-stop from 5pm to 6am, 13 hours. When I awoke they were still playing, and battery was at 50%. By extrapolation then, which when talking about batteries is not an exact science, these should easily live up to Sony’s 35-hour battery life claim.
That makes these perfect for non-stop listening on long flights or drives (the kids in the backseat, of course, not the driver). Tangentially related to battery life is figuring out how much battery is left, which brings up another great, really upscale, feature – battery-life-left-by -voice. When you first turn on the headphones a pleasant, realistic, female voice informs you approximately how much battery remains. And if you ever want an update just quick press the power button and she’ll give you the current estimate. This is so much more pleasant than trifling with an app or interpreting obtuse lights, like a cave drawing, for this basic information. Of course, if you prefer a visual indicator, the app displays this info too.
After good battery life comes the need for fast battery charging. These headphones do not fail here either. It only takes a 10-minute charge to get another couple hours of battery life. I tried to find out how fast a 50 to 100% charge would take but lost track of time. An hour later it was fully charged but I don’t know when it topped off. Suffice to say it was quick.
The other major feature here is noise canceling. It works great. I live in an urban area with lots of street noise from buses, beeping delivery trucks backing up, and such. These headphones eliminate all of that and make me think I’m working in a deserted village. Even when the headphones are set to ambient they still block out a good bit of noise even at low volumes.
Audio quality, of course, is the most important feature of any headphone. Without that no other feature matters. I sampled a variety of music and video genres; rock, rap, classical, opera, stereo audio, Atmos audio (even though these are not Atmos headphones). I did this with the headphones connected to my iPhone and then again connected to my Mac in case these was a difference between source devices. (All of my listening was via Bluetooth rather than the included cable). To my untrained ears, the sound, including movie dialog, was clear and accurate no matter what was thrown at them. If the source material was recorded in an immersive codec like Atmos or 5.1 I felt immersed, even if it wasn’t the full potential of those sources. If it was recorded in 1960’s stereo, it reproduced that sound. It never tried to reimagine except when fiddling with the equalizer. A completely enjoyable experience.
About the bass, because for many that’s key. If that’s you these are probably not the headphones for you. I would describe the bass reproduction here as “standard,” or “normal,”. Other’s might say that means weak. I don’t care for outrageous, brain shaking, bass. That gives me a headache. The bass is firm on these, as it should be, and you can “feel” it to an extent, but it’s not center stage and over the top and any attempt to push them that direction will result in distortion.
That is my overview, thumbs ups and downs, of the Sony WH-CH720N headphones. Overall, they are excellent with a few usability flaws. My only other quibble with them is they don’t fold up which makes them awkward to travel with. It would have been nice if Sony at least included a travel pouch. There are folding models by competitors in this price ranged that do fold. And for frequent travelers that would be a reason to look elsewhere. For anyone else, these do a great job of filling the need of sounding great while being comfortable, affordable and full featured.
Hi TechO, We appreciate your detailed review. Sony values the opinions of customers and is always striving to provide the best experience possible. Great low budget noise cancelling headphones

I’ve been wanting a noise cancelling headset for some time “have buds but not a headset” and saw that Sonly came out with the WHCH720N Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones and wanted to give them a try.
Unboxing and setting up:
The headphones came in a nice Sony logoed box, very simple and recyclable, including a “very short USB C charging cable, an audio passthrough cable and instructions, “they kept it simple”.
I installed the “Sony Headphones Connect” app on my S22Ultra and paired up the headphones “I did charge it first”, and the phone automatically found them and connected without a hitch. The app immediately popped up an alert stating that an update for the headphones was available, so I let that run before doing anything else.
I was surprised with how many settings there are in the app itself, there’s even a portion of it for the 360degree sound function that has you take a picture of your ear “sort of strange” but well explained as to why. There’s also a lot of settings for the noise cancelling and how the headset will adjust the level of ambient noise that comes through depending on the environment you are in or you can take complete manual control.
Using:
I was very surprised just how light these are “right around 6.5oz”, which is way lighter than the A40s I have which are 14oz and so heavy I don’t use them very much, we also have Marshall Major IIs “on ear” and Audio Technica ATHM50XBTs, the weight is close to the 6.2oz of the Marshalls and lighter than the 10.5oz of the A/Ts. The ear cushions are very padded and soft, just the right amount of padding “for me”. Fortunately, the power/pairing button are on the left side while the rest of the controls are on the right side, this helps keep from hitting the power button accidentally.
Now for sound quality, I’ll be comparing them to the Marshalls and the A/Ts. And as far as sound quality is concerned while using Bluetooth and the Sony app, you can tweak the Sony’s to sound better than of the other two, the Marshalls just don’t have the bass and the A/T while sounding great have no way to adjust the sound the way you like it plus neither have sound cancelling.
As far as the sound cancelling go I was/am amazed how well it works, and when it’s enabled with no ambient sound allowed to pass through you will want to make sure your in an environment that you don’t need to hear what’s going on around you as you will barely be able to hear anything around you even with nothing playing in the background and if you have music playing you can pretty much forget hearing anything else. It’s pretty cool that it automatically sets the sound pass through when I go out for my neighborhood walk in the evening and it’s easy to hear oncoming vehicles or carry on a conversation with a neighbor without having to take the headset off, “neighbor was pretty impressed too”.
I also tried out the built in Alexa and that works well, and the same as using one of the small Echo Dots, just say Alexa and then your command. We have some of our lamps hooked to smart switches and it was easy to turn them on/off with the headset. Can also ask to play music or and anything else you would ask your Alexa device to do, “well done Sony”
Conclusion:
If you want a really good set of “Over the Ear” headphones that have great sound cancelling capabilities along with a lot more features than most other headphones I’d look strongly at the WHCH720N’s. They are light, very comfortable, the sound is great once you tweak it to where you like “the App has a full equalizer” and lasts a very long time on battery “still at 60% after many hours of use between music, movies and making calls. Distance wise I was able to walk around our house and easily walked a good 40' away before there was any connection loss. I tested this while they were connected to my S22 Ultra. The only thing that I can find negative about these is the super short charging cable that’s included. I tossed that in my cable box and use my standard USB C long charging cable I use for my tablet.
Hi SteveC, Thank you for sharing an in-depth review with your new WHCH720N headphones! We really glad to hear your enjoyable experience with the incredible sound quality, comfortable fit, light weight, noise canceling function, Sony Headphone | Connect app, features, and overall performance of the unit. Your satisfaction with our product means a lot to us. We've also taken note of your feedback with regard the USB Type-C cable.

A big improvent over CH700Ns

About 4 years ago I reviewed the Sony CH700N headphones and said it sounded better than 6 other BT headphones I had, but they were not comfortable for more than an album or so. Needless to say I've kept looking, and looking, and with 7 more set earbuds and 5 more over the ear headphones to consider I now have the updated Sony CH720Ns. They weigh a little less than the CH700's and are said to offer 35hours of listening. I understand they have improved drivers. They have a similar feel on my head to the CH700Ns, but a little lighter, and that matters.
Id's also say that the foam around the ears is a bit softer, and they are deep enough that my ears don't touch the inner drivers, which is what I think caused the discomfort with the CH700s. They are much more comfortable and do a slightly better job of noise canceling. I've found them much more comfortable than the CH700's but they still squeeze a little tight. In addition I can use Alexa or to change volume (nice). It also has an ambient mode so you can clearly hear the environment around you via a single button. The 700's didn't have this function. Several other headphones I've acquired recently have this feature in one fashion or another. It's truly worth having if you're going to wear headphones around others. Using these headphones on the telephone seems fine for the listener but still has the same tunnel sound I found on the CH700s. The echo cancellation seems to work better, the CH700s prevented me from hearing myself talk and these CH720s allow my voice to be heard as I talk. This is another improvement.
Now how do they sound? I tried to compare the two headphones (which BT I can't pair simultaneously (nor can I wear). There is no question that the CH720Ns are louder. And the bass is better, maybe deeper, or just tighter. They are not as bass forward as I've found in 'B**ts' headphones, but at the same time these Sony CH720N's mids and highs are a bit firmer and louder than that of the CH700's.
I think that the CH720N's do a much better job of noise cancelation; I tried listening to both with my television on, and the external noise bleed with the CH700's was noticeable, where it was better with the CH720N's (but not perfect). The ambient listening environment, where you turn off noise cancelation and "bring in" the external noises. This allows you to hear what's going on around you. I could hear the television on when my music was low enough, but over say 5 or 6 it had little effect. Still this is a great feature.
Now to some music from Boston and Pink Floyd; The transition from "Foreplay to Long Time", has some great surround stereo separation, softly swirling from ear to ear. The CH720s were deeper and more airy. But I found the mid-range lacking some sort of complexity. The overall balance of the lows and highs on the CH720s was very good but not quite captivating. As "Smokin's" bass built the CH720s certainly get your attention but are not overwhelming. Here the CH700's were not as captivating, lacking some thump. Listening to the Immersion Edition of TDSOTM, the voices in my head in "Speak to Me (Live)" were surreal with the subtle background noises being heard clearly. But the full open soundstage was somewhat missing. The girls in "The Great gig in the Sky'' sounded surreal. I enjoyed the comfort and sound of the CH720s more. That being said, the deep bass of Money seemed a bit muddled. But after spending some time with Sony's HeadPhones App I found that via the 'Equalizer' I could either use their Bright mode or create my own custom mode, taking down the bass a notch and kicking up the highs, to give me a better balance.
The headphones also support 360 Reality Audio, which is another subscription service, to which I didn't have any subscriptions. You can't get to these features from the headphone directly (that I could find). You need to access them from the phones 'Headphones App' and/or 360 Reality app. But the best feature of the Headphones app is the equalizer, you can modify their sound curve from the app to your liking.
One other touted feature is Google and Alexa integration. Having both Google and Alexa I tried Google first, but the first instruction I tried (skip to next song) was not supported. It could handle volume up and volume down though. Also when issuing voice commands, my other Google devices could hear my commands and they "won" over the headphones. Maybe my understanding of how this integration is supposed to work is misunderstood.... but it's not explained anywhere in the "manual" or via the online Headphone app. After many years I'd say this is a work in progress with too many features not supported..
I also listened with the wired connection and as expected the overall sound stage was much wider and the brightness of the headphones really shined. Until I connected these headphones directly to my DAC I really didn't know how much better the CH720s were (via my custom equalization).
The headphones take 3+hrs to fully charge, in 3min you can add an hour of play time. They are a big step up from the CH700s. And they are available at a very reasonable price. I'm impressed they are not my best in my collection, but for the price they are outstanding, nothing less than $300 comes close.

Great except for the app that you NEED TO HAVE

I got these at the beginning of the year - so maybe 8 months ago - after my puppy ate my Beats. The beats were fine but they would make my ears really sweaty from the cushioning and sometimes my curly hair would get trapped in the outside seam and pull out some strands, so I was looking for some different headphones, preferably cheaper ones.
I saw these and saw the good reviews - great price point for noise cancelling yada yada. Something i thought was strange though was that it was meant for "Apple and Android devices." I thought: how could head phones only be for these specific OS products?
Here is what I don't see anyone talking about when they review these: you have to have this app for the full noise cancelling functionality to work. And for the life of me, it is such a terrible app. UI looks awful, and the worst part is even if your headphones have connected to your bluetooth, if you don't go in and click 'connect' it will kick you out of whatever you're listening to after 10 seconds. This to me is the most frustrating parts of wireless headphones. Getting ready to exercise or do a task, starting your song, and then getting hit with the "unpaired noise" and completing stopping your song or podcast. It's happened so many times and it is sooooo annoying. Sometimes it behaves nice and connects with no problem, and sometimes im staring at the UI waiting for it to connect. I don't think the functionality the app provides is worth having when the app itself is so badly designed.
Funny thing is when ive connected them wirelessly to my computer with bluetooth, it connects off the rip. When ive deleted the app off my phone, the headphones wouldnt connect. So yes as headphones they're really not bad. Battery life is amazing on these and the sound quality really isnt bad either but wow the disconnecting thing is insanely frustrating
Thank you for telling us about your experience with your WH-CH720N Headphones. We're sorry to hear that you have an issue with the noise canceling feature of your Sony unit. We also value your feedback regarding the operation of the companion app.
The Sony Headphones Connect app is a utility app that helps you to quickly connect compatible Bluetooth headphones to your smartphone. After connection, the app allows you to customize audio settings with your headphones. And as long as your smartphone or mobile device supports an A2DP Bluetooth profile then it should work.
You can use the noise cancellation (NC) function without playing any audio. You can change the "Auto power off" setting of the WH-CH720N with the Sony Headphones Connect app. This setting allows you to use your headphones without keeping your headphones connected to an external device and without playing music.

I’ve reviewed many earbuds and headphones from different bands in the TIN program over the past few years, and these are the best sounding for the price I’ve reviewed yet.
They really sound good from the low end to the high. Clean crisp highs. Not tinny or harsh sounding. Nice deep low end and doesn’t sound muddy. You can set the sound to your tastes with the EQ in the app.
The headphones come with USB-A to USB-C charging cable and a 3.5mm cable for direct connection to a device that has a headphone jack. One end is straight and the other a 90 degree angle.
Pairing to my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was simple and easy. It showed up on the Sony app I already had installed that works with my Sony WF-SP800N earbuds I reviewed a few years ago. Pairing on my 9th Gen iPad with the Sony app went off without any problems.
Some people reported that their headphones kept disconnecting and reconnecting. My S22 Ultra did that too at times. Music or calls, it didn’t matter. I know that other bluetooth devices can steal your connection, so I looked for anything else that’s paired with my phone and turned on. I found two things. My aftershocks and my Belkin speaker. I turned them off and no more disconnects. I’m not sure if there’s a bluetooth setting to stop that. I couldn’t find one.
I didn’t seem to have that problem with my 9th Gen iPad but I can’t guarantee that you won’t with your iPad or iPhone. I also paired the headphones with a couple of Windows PCs that I have. No problems there either.
You can also connect the headphones with the supplied 3.5mm cable and use it with devices with a headphone jack. Either with or without the headphones turned on. When turned on, you can use the active noise reduction and I noticed that it used the same custom EQ settings I had it set to which is a very nice option.
The Sony app to control the headphones is very well thought out with lots of options. It can analyze your ear shape to optimize the sound and for the 360 Reality Audio option. You can switch the ANR on and off, and if you want to let ambient sound in, and the level. You can also set them up to automatically do this based on location and / or actions. All good stuff, but my favorite and, what I think is the most useful, is the 5 band EQ with 2 custom settings and Sony’s Clear Bass. I say this because some music apps lack any EQ control. Even presets. For example, I reviewed a pair of Yamaha bluetooth headphones. The app to control them is super basic. Not EQ settings at all. I compare these to them later in the review.
Phone calls sound clear for the wearer and the party on the other end. I tried it both ways with my wife wearing the headphones. We both agreed they sound really good for calls.

Impressive Sound & Features I need on a budget

I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent sound of these budget Sony WHCH720N headphones. I have a pair of the Sony XM3 over the ear headphones and these sound even better. The major differences between these WHCH720N headphones and my old XM3s is there are no touch controls, they don't fold up, and they are much more lightweight. The control buttons on the WHC720N are simple. You have your power, NC/Ambient, volume up/down and your select/answer/pause button. Although they are lightweight, the build construction feels sound and they are comfortable on my head. The Sony Headphones app is full of rich features. There are several Equalizer presets but I set my own manually. The lows sound great from everything to hip-hop to electronic, to rock music. You can take pictures of your ears to optimize audio. The noise cancellation is adequate, and ambient sound is an option if you need to hear what's going on around you. There is an option in the app to connect to multiple devices at once. I use this when I'm working at the computer (listening to music), but I need to connect to my office phone at the same time for conference calls. I've used it for hands free calling and the mic and audio is good, no complaints. The bluetooth connection to my computer and phones is strong and there's an additional option in the app where you can prioritize quality or connection if it becomes a problem. I would highly recommend these due to the impressive sound, feature rich options, and lightweight portability.
Hi NanoEthan, Thank you for the 5-star rating! We're very happy to hear you like the lightweight design, simple control buttons, robust built, variety of customization options using the Sony Headphones Connect app, amazing noise cancellation, multipoint connection feature, superb sound quality, and overall performance of your WHCH720N. The Sony WHCH720N Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones are a great set of headphones. These headphones are incredibly lightweight, they feel good on your head. I can imagine wearing these on a plane and actually falling asleep with them comfortably resting on my head and ears. Set up was easy. These immediately connected to my iPhone 13. There is an app called Headphones Connect, that walks you through orientating the sound set up for optimal sound. It takes pictures of your ears. There is some true quality sound coming out of these! It really immersve. Had to update the app and headphones immediately upon syncing and it took about half an hour to complete. They came with a good charge, and come with a usb charging cable as well as a 3.5mm adapter cord to plug into. Battery life has been good so far. I would love it if it came with a case or carrying bag. Looking at others in this category i think thats the only thing missing and is easily fixed by buying your own. Overall these are quality headphones with great sound. I'm glad to have them & will benefit from their use next time I'm on a flight.

I will really recommend this product because it's a little bit cheap and like if you don't want something too expensive you can use it for school and also the noise canceling is actually really good.

Really enjoying these new Sony WH-CH720N headphones! So far I’ve found them to have great audio performance and they are surprisingly lightweight. The sound right out of the box is great. But to really bring the sound to life, download and use the Sony headphone app. The additional abilities the app gives in adjusting the sound to your liking make a difference. The headphones feel nicely built and I’m really impressed with how lightweight they are. They are really comfortable and unlikely to cause fatigue from wearing them for extended periods of time. The controls are pretty standard and easy to understand. The noise cancellation works very well. This is a feature that has really improved on headphones over the years. And to be honest, with how well the cushions fit over your ears you might find you really don’t need the noise cancellation in many situations. Additional features such as hands free calling and ability to use them with the included standard 3.5mm headphone cable work great as well. A USB to USB-C cable is included for charging, but like most products these days no charging block is included. Battery life is said to be around 35 hours and I would say that’s a honest estimate. Overall these are a great set of headphones that are easy to recommend.
Hi Duluthian, Thank you for the amazing review! I received this as a Christmas present. It was not the one I had originally picked out for myself. I believe this Sony set was on sale and had good ratings so my husband purchased it. I work in a noisy environment but also need to be able to hear coworkers. Took these to work and they work great. I can click a button and listen to music or my book and click the button again and hear my coworkers very well. Very happy with this purchase.
We’re thrilled to hear that the WH-CH720N is working out so well for your workplace needs. It is great to know that the ability to switch between your media and hearing your surroundings is providing the convenience you need in a noisy environment. We are glad your husband's choice has been such a success!
Thank you for choosing Sony!

I haven’t owned a lot of headphones in my life so I don’t have a lot to compare these to, but I really enjoy these. I think they’re very comfortable to wear and I think the sound quality is great. I had a little bit of trouble getting them connected to more than one device, but I was able to figure it out. I mostly use them connected to my phone to listen to music and I haven’t had any issues with them disconnecting even when walking a little bit away from my phone. I would definitely recommend these.
We are thrilled to hear that your WH-CH720N headphones are providing such a comfortable experience with great sound quality! It is wonderful to know that the Bluetooth connection remains stable even when you move away from your phone, and we are glad you were able to successfully set up the multipoint connection for your devices. We truly appreciate your recommendation and are happy these are working out so well for your music listening. Thanks for choosing Sony.

This was a gift - recipient pleased with comfort (large ear piece), clarity and ease of pairing. Primary use is PC/tablet/smartfone access to YouTube videos and music. Environment not noisy - so the next price-point "noise canceling" product not required. Issue with the multi-function on-off switch (used for power on/off, battery status, pairing) - ended up needing the smartphone app to reliably turn headfones off and save battery.
One note - issue w smartfone connectivity: also using Dexcom glucose monitoring where historical pairing had not been cleared. Bumped up against the Bluetooth std of pairing limit - after these 100's of Dexcom pairings were deleted, was finally able to pair/connect with smartfone.
Thank you for sharing this detailed review about the WH-CH720N headphones, Newbie!
We are delighted to hear that the recipient is very pleased with the core experience, including the comfort from the large ear cups, clarity, and ease of pairing (once the phone's pairing limit was addressed). It’s great validation that the sound quality is a perfect fit for their primary use of YouTube and music in a quiet environment.
We truly appreciate you highlighting the important technical notes:
Multi-Function Switch: We understand that relying on the smartphone app to consistently turn the headphones off to save battery is not ideal, and we apologize for this inconvenience. Your feedback is valuable for our design team as we aim for simpler, more intuitive controls.
Bluetooth Pairing Limit: Thank you for providing the detailed workaround for the connectivity issue with the smartphone. This experience of "bumping up against the Bluetooth standard pairing limit" due to hundreds of historical pairings (like the Dexcom monitor) is very insightful and helps other users who might encounter similar unique connectivity challenges.
Thank you again for choosing Sony, and we hope the recipient continues to enjoy the excellent audio and comfort of the WH-CH720N!

High quality sound as one would expect from Bose. Lightweight and comfortable fit for extended periods of listening. Battery life seems good, as I’ve been using mine for several weeks now on the original charge. I’d highly recommend these headphones if you enjoy high quality sound and excellent noise suppression.
We are delighted to hear that you are highly recommending these headphones and that the sound quality, lightweight comfort, and noise suppression are all hitting the mark for you!
We are so glad you chose the Sony WH-CH720N to experience our signature high-quality audio and Integrated Processor V1 technology. It is especially impressive to hear that the battery life has supported several weeks of use on a single charge—we designed these with a long-lasting battery to keep the music going for as long as possible without interruption. Knowing they stay comfortable for those extended listening periods is exactly what we strive for.
Thank you for choosing Sony.

Great headphones at this price point. Bose qc45s were not loud enough for a family member with hearing impairment when hooked to a fire tv. These are so much louder that he had to turn them down. They do not have a hard case like the more expensive models, but that wasn’t needed in our case since they stay by his tv. Great purchase, especially since we cot it on sale for $98.
We are honored to hear that the WHCH720N is providing the volume and clarity needed for your family member to enjoy their favorite shows. It is wonderful to know that our headphones offered the perfect solution for his specific listening needs and that you were able to secure them at such a great value.
Thank you for choosing Sony!

I recently purchased the Sony WH-CH720N, and they’ve quickly become my go-to pair for daily use. For the price point, they deliver excellent value without sacrificing the features you’d expect from higher-end models.
Key things I like:
• Noise Cancelling: The ANC is surprisingly effective. It blocks out background chatter at work, public transit noise, and even helps me focus at home.
• Comfort: Extremely lightweight, with soft ear cushions that I can wear for hours without fatigue. Perfect for work calls, commutes, or just relaxing with music.
• Battery Life: Easily lasts multiple days of regular use before needing a charge. A single charge gives me more than enough playtime to get through long work sessions and travel days.
• Sound Quality: Balanced and clear, with strong mids and highs. Bass isn’t overpowering but still gives a nice punch for music and movies
Thanks for sharing such a detailed and helpful review!
We're thrilled to hear you're enjoying your new WH-CH720N headphones. They're designed to deliver a great mix of noise canceling, comfort, and battery life, so it's awesome to know they've become your go-to pair.
We appreciate you choosing Sony!

I work outdoors in the lawn care industry. These headphones are great at noise canceling. Winter months either running a backup blower, a log splitter and any other loud equipment these are great for noise canceling. Battery life is good and they seem to be of great quality. Highly recommend.
It’s rewarding to hear that your WH-CH720N headphones are performing so well even in demanding outdoor work environments! We know how loud equipment like blowers and splitters can be, so it is fantastic to know our Dual Noise Sensor technology is providing the peace and quiet you need to focus on your job.
We designed these to be our lightest overhead wireless noise-canceling headphones to ensure they stay comfortable throughout a long workday. We truly appreciate you recommending them to others who need reliable quality in the field.
Thank you for choosing Sony.

Amazing sound quality. Im hearing music in ways I've never heard before, and gaming is more immersive than ever. Bass is fantastic, and sound cancelling is so good that i get paranoid about my surroundings sometimes. 10/10 sound quality.
The microphone on them is practically useless, though. Works fine for making phone calls, but don't plan on using it for any form of content creation, your phone or laptop microphone will be higher quality than this audio.
Ive been using them every day for weeks and just had to charge them for the first time yesterday, battery life is very impressive.
We are absolutely thrilled to hear that the WH-CH720N headphones are delivering such an immersive audio experience for your music and gaming, and we're proud that the sound quality, bass, and long-lasting battery life have earned a 10/10 rating! However, we appreciate your candid feedback regarding the microphone quality for content creation purposes. The microphone technology in this model is primarily optimized for clear, hands-free voice calls in daily use and not for professional-grade recording or broadcast audio; for higher-quality, low-latency communication like content creation or serious gaming, we recommend utilizing a dedicated, wired microphone or one of our specialized headsets like the Sony INZONE series.
