Hi all. Purchased back on March 9 2017. To replace a Galaxy J3. That was getting on my nerves. Its a very good phone. Fast 8 core cpu. Had no issues connecting to my 2016 Hyundai Tucson and Sena BT(Motorcycle helmet). My only issues with this phone are, 1: Battery. Can run down fast. If watching a You-Tube video via Wifi. 2: Gets Warm as it operates. Due to the 8 Core CPU. 3: I wish I could remove some of the Preloaded Apps. Have used it for taking some short videos. And some still shots. Sony has a nice feature where it will Blink a different color led for Message, Call notifications. Where the J3 would constantly chirp at me. Now If I can only find a case to put this in??
I am adding a photo of a tool I made. Actually modified. To show the camera quality.

I'm very pleased with the phone so far. It's definitely worth the price as far as performance and camera go. It looks like nothing else, in a good way. The camera could've been better but again, great for the price. Aside from that, the user interface is great and speedy. There are a few great Sony exclusive apps that come with Xperia and I definitely appreciate them. I did my research and this is the best phone around this price point and I would definitely recommend it.

I absolutely love Sony phones and was so glad BestBuy finally started selling unlocked devices. Overall, I think it's a great device for the price. Runs all my applications fine. Camera is decent. I love the look and feel. The only drawback as others have mentioned is the battery life. But I keep a few backup batteries on hand, which charge it relatively quickly.

Sony, one of the many phone makers who will vie for your spending dollar, but what makes this phone worth it?
On first holding this phone one thing instantly strikes me, this phone is sleek, thin, and I do love the edge to edge display, it gives it a premium look and feel. The screen is "only" 720p "HD", but make no mistake it looks sharp and colors are vivid. The glass does not feel flimsy either.
The camera is among its other strong points, it is missing 60fps 1080p and no 4K but at this price point it is not really expected. Unlike its other siblings, the Z2 and Z3 line, it does not suffer from the over soft pictures as the mentioned models do, this one seems sharp and detailed.
Battery life is where it is disappointing, it has an update (or several actually) after turning it on. I highly recommend doing so as it makes battery life from poor to average, and like most things, you should update your electronics when available! It has a "quick charge" BUT it is not the Qualcom one, but rather from Media Tek so it needs a different type of charger, stupidly Sony ships out a NORMAL charger, but it does charge quick enough.
Software, what I love about the Sony user interface (and others may differ here), is how it is somewhat stock like Motorola but yet with extra touches from Sony that does not make it too stripped down, yet not bloated like some makers (looking at you, Samsung!).
Build quality is excellent, the back is not removable and plastic but the phone does not feel cheap.
Storage is somewhat of an issue, it only has 16GB and after my main applications are installed, I was down to 5gb, it does have an SD card so the problem is not as critical but it is worrying and I wish the OS did not take as much space or they installed 32GB by default.
Overall I will recommend this phone fully, it has it's weaknesses and you need to acknowledge those before buying it, it is comparable to the Moto G4 but at a slightly higher price point, I personally prefer the Sony over the Moto for tastes sake. The shutter button on the Sony is a nice touch you will tend to not find anywhere else.
This price point is very cluttered and the Sony does well enough to stand out from the crowd.

Not sure why there's so much hate on this. I think the XA and X models are good. Can't go wrong on the camera quality. Only complaint about the XA is the memory. I actually switched to the X model to better fit my needs. Overall, I think the XA is pretty good and it's nice to have dual sim cards.

Just bought this recently and its really nice. Has a great feel and look to it. The at&t dude connecting my phone was real impressed with it, easy connection with at&t. I was also looking at the moto G 4 but i went with this phone based on the look. it was 200$ and i had a 10$ off coupon. for $190 this phone gets the job done. It gets a lot of hate for its battery and low dim light resolution display. Camera is 13 megapixels and takes nice pics and full hd videos. I charge it to about 100% at 10pm and by 9am the next morning it is as 70% being on stand by so thats kind of the downer of this phone. I just use it for youtube, social media, gps, emails, web browsing, and recording videos. If all you need is that and you don't mind double charging your phone a day then this is real good. This is a 200$ phone so you cant hate on it that much, for a budget phone it gets the job done. The moto G 4 is too big for me so i don't like that. Says 16gb but with all the bloatware you are left with 8gb.

A Horrible Waste of Money

Guys, do not be fooled by the sleek look and price tag on this phone. It is a complete piece of expensive-ish trash. I got the Sony Xperia XA at the end of December 2016, took the most care of this phone than that of any phone I've ever had, always had it in a case, never even dropped it... Here we are in April 2017 and my phone refuses to charge. It's not built to last! The battery life is awful and Stamina mode doesn't help anything. The screen brightness is ridiculous, I struggle to see my screen in the sunlight. When you screenshot on this phone it comes out blurry and indecipherable for some reason. The sound quality is terrible.. so listening to music through speakers, even home alone with an echo to boost sounds is, to say the least, a task. It is a complete waste of money. I'm finding myself having to pull money out for a new phone less than 6 months after purchasing this beautiful piece of trash. I'm currently reviewing this phone on an old 40$ Alcatel phone that I bought the XA to replace and it's holding up MUCH BETTER than a phone I paid 75$ more for, and is more functional than the Sony Xperia XA. Sony is only good for TVs & PlayStations... and being a fan of both I thought this would be a good investment. It's definitely not, do not buy this phone if you plan on actually using it as a primary device after 4 months it will take 6 hours to charge to 0%.

I got as a secondary phone for my European SIM so that I have a local number when I travel to Europe and it's not as fast my iPhone 6, but it works as expected. It's portable and nicely designed. I think it's a pretty good bargain for the price. I like it better than the Blu phone I used earlier for the same purpose (as a secondary European phone).

Great phone for the price (bought it on sale), it's unlocked so I can use for any phone company that use SIM card. Just turn it on and insert SIM card, it works like a champ for several months now.

Very nice, speedy, decent quality phone. Wish it had a an oleophobic coating on the screen though like the XA Ultra has. Fingerprints are hard to wipe off. Note although it's compatible with AT&T, they don't allow unlocked phones to utilize VoLTE or WiFi Calling.
Also I wish Sony would not have taken out their iconic wrist strap attach point on the newer phones like this one.

I must say that this is one of the coolest looking android phones I have had. The battery does seem to lose power faster than other phones, but that's why they give you charging chords right.

Pros: Octa core so it is fast, good camera colors
Cons: the speaker is not that loud so you need headphones to listen to your music or videos, the distribution of the system options is a little odd to me( Samsung user)
In general terms it is a good product

I bought it for my mother. She uses it a lot for social media, pictures, videos, and naturally, calls. For phone calls she only likes to use speaker phone, it's a personal preference... For everything she's done, it's been working flawlessly. Pictures and videos are great. Application(s) performance are spiffy, she and i see no lag. The screen lacks just a little bit more brightness that what i would like, but at times i fail to notice. It has only 16GB integrated storage, but as always, very nice to have available slot for extra memory. Design is neat. Lightweight. I'm pretty shocked it's this cheap... really really good phone

After putting the phone through its paces for a week, I've found a few good pros and cons.
First and foremost the worst thing about the phone, like others have pointed out, is the battery life. The phone drains real quick under constant use. It usually lasts me all day, but with barely any room to spare (generally between 10-15% battery life.) Also, it tends to lag a bit if you're trying to run a lot of tasks at the same time. For example, installing or updating apps and trying to text at the same time is generally a no go, as the phone slows down quite a bit.
Other than that, this is a decent budget phone for $200. The screen (although only being 1280x720) looks absolutely fantastic, it plays all my mobile games with no problems, and overall the feel of it in hand is superb with the cornered glass.

Fast processor, nice display, good camera. It does all the basics very capably. I use it (in addition to as a phone) primarily for email and web browsing, and I have had no problem with either. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the latest Galaxy, but for the price you can't beat it. Note that after getting one for my middle-school daughter for her birthday, I liked it so much I got one for myself to replace my old phone!
