I've loved this HP. I'm still using this laptop in 2023! I did have to get it repaired in 2022 from the battery expanding, but it was fixed and still working well!

I have bought this laptop on Thanksgiving day. We absolutely love it at a first glace. It looks great and works ok. But soon we realized the heat problem. The fan runs almost continuously. It becomes too hot after 15-20 minutes of use. Had to return it to the store

Great computer, poor trackpad

I don't often write reviews, but after months of researching and trialing various laptops and thinking that I finally found the perfect choice, I felt compelled to review the product.
This computer is by far the best price-value I have seen in a 13"-14" laptop. If you are planning to use a wireless mouse, stop reading and buy the product.
The fault in this computer is the trackpad, and not the build of the trackpad itself. The trackpad runs off Synaptics drivers which have a fatal flaw. Micro to small movements of the mouse using the trackpad do not register, causing the mouse to snap back to its original position. Searched HP support sites for hours to find a suitable solution. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. Able to abate issue only by completely uninstalling the Synaptics drivers, however this made the trackpad useless for other functions (double tap, scrolling etc). Flaw is a known software issue, has been present on spectre laptops dating back to 2015 from what I can see in support forums. If you use the touch-screen and an external mouse the laptop is flawless from my limited experience. But if you are a trackpad user, pack up and look elsewhere.

The problems that I have with this computer are the touchpad, the speakers and now it shuts itself down about once a week. I've had it looked at an geek squad does its thing but it still shuts down. The speakers usually work but not always and the cursor will just go wherever it wants to even though I'm not touching the touchpad at all. It's tough typing like that! Otherwise I'm been happy with the computer.

It's the Battery

I may have a lemon and have only used it a week so this review could be revised but I bought this model for speed and battery life. The speed of download and quality of streaming has not been the lightning level expected from an empty machine of this spec and SSD and yet that is secondary. It is the battery that is terrible. CU had rated it at 13.5 hours which I doubted but expected at least 7 or 8. Instead even using the Saver and light workload (just websites) it is hardly good for 3. I will see if HP has a fix but otherwise it goes back. I have never returned any of those many laptops since 1983 so this would be a first. There are two other annoyances for me - the key action is rather flat feeling and the screen highly reflective. I would tolerate all that. It's the battery which I think buyers should be alert to. Good luck.

Great...hard to find accessories

Love the computer. The face recognition and fingerprint scanner do not work well. It is hard to find a case for this computer or any type of accessory for that matter.

Buyer beware

I am a college student and I bought this laptop around five months ago. Being a psychology major, I primarily only use my laptop to write papers, take notes, and watch Netflix. However, I still have had numerous problems with this laptop. It was fine for the first month or two, and then it just began to act crazy and has progressively gotten worse. It started out with something I have learned is called a phantom mouse. The cursor would just go to the top of the screen and flicker between the pointer and the dot thing it becomes when using the pen (even though I was not using the pen). Then I began having loading issues where it would just freeze and need to be restarted in order to open things. My laptop had a major episode a few weeks ago. When I tried to turn it on, an HP message popped up that something was and that the computer needed to be wiped and rebooted. I did this only to have the same thing happen again when I tried to turn it back on. When I finally got it on, my keyboard was frozen and my screen was stuck upsdide down. The final straw was while I was taking a midterm, I lost complete control of the mouse and had to complete the thing in tablet mode because nothing else would respond. (All this time I had updated anti-virus, so I am pretty positive my computer did not have a virus.) At this point, I contacted HP tech support and they sent me the software to reset my computer to factory standards. The minute my computer had completed the reset and turned back on, the cursor shot right back up to the top of the screen and began flickering; I was not touching the mousepad or any part of the laptop at this time. This laptop has been one headache after another. I bought this laptop because it had good reviews and seemed like it was quality, but now I am regretting my choice. I would honestly recommend buying something cheaper because this laptop was not worth the $1,300 I paid for it.

This laptop started coming apart at the seams shorthly after two years of use. Up to that point, I liked the technology it provided, i.e., the touch screen and 2-in-1 feature.

Poor Performance by hp Premium Laptop

I bought this premium Laptop from hp during Thanksgiving. We paid $1080 and with the price we paid we were amazed with the features and specifications this laptop has got. But after 3 months laptop started losing wifi signal regularly. Initially i thought my wifi is having issues and optical fiber internet is not working properly. But it was the hp Spectre premium laptop. So i went to the hp site and googled as well about the issue. At the hp official site the issue was already mentioned so hp is well aware about their premium laptop wifi signal issue. Initially i ran the steps mentioned at hp site on my laptop. Since issue was not resolved , after few days a representative came online, took control and ran some diagnosis and that has also not helped either. by then i already wasted a month living with that issue. To resolve the issue hp asked me to send them the laptop for repair. Really they will ask you to hold all your work, and of course you may want to take back up of everything from laptop and send laptop to them. Such a pain!! After around 10 days i received my laptop shipped back after repair, with a note that they replaced motherboard. Yes! they replaced the motherboard of a premium laptop to resolve the wifi signal issue. Sad but true. And guess what, Issue was not resolved after that too. By now it is already three month and now they are asking me to send laptop back to them for another repair, I dont know what they want to replace now, may be keyboard, speakers? I requested replacement and the way customer service manager was talking, i started cursing myself for buying this premium laptop from hp. Of course they have not replaced it yet and playing cheap tricks like - we got the approval for replacement, we will ship it soon etc. Its sad to see such performance of laptop and poor customer service from hp for their premium product. I would not recommend this laptops to anyone. If you want to buy premium things, go for Apple, They replace product even in case of small issues. Please save your Money, Time and as you deserve peaceful and trouble free life in that price. P.S - Case is still open with hp. Case # 5016958863 We are leaving India in another week, and guess what we have to carry this defected laptop from hp with us.

In terms of a good laptop it has everything but one the one problem I had with it was too unbearable. The fan turns on constantly and is very loud. It would come on even if I opened two browser tabs in chrome or opened up two different windows explorer windows. I like the design and the features for the price but that fan is too annoying. I returned it the next day.

Cracked Screen Problem in Less Than 30 Days

Avoid buying. Less than 30 days old and screen cracked. Did not misuse it. Did not drop it. Just opened one day with cracked screen. No support from Best Buy. No support from HP. HP wants to charge $700 to repair. According to them, cracked screens are always a customer issue. Researched and other buyers have had similar issues. Have owned multiple laptops, phones, tablets. Have never cracked a screen. If you do buy, purchase the warranty. You will need it.

I travel internationally and bought this on the run. It's been an ongoing nightmare for two years.....and for that price, I will NEVER forgive HP. Even if they did work the bugs out, you've lost me forever. Buy at your own risk.
