I’ve had this portable unit for about a year or so now since my window unit broke and it definitely cools down my room, don’t expect this small but mighty box to cool down your entire house though. installation was very easy I did it all myself. It takes a few minutes to cool down my entire room, mind you, I live in Hawaii where it’s humid most days but it’ll come in handy with summer months coming up :)

Installation was straight forward. The unit can adequately make a small living room and dining area comfortable. The only issue was the crude method of programming the ac to start and stop, rather than be based on a clock, you would need to compute thehow many hours before you start and stop the unit. Hopefully it will be durable enough as I have not heard of this brand until recently.

I have had the SPT unit for about a month, and it was on for about 1/3 of that time. The unit is a bit louder than a window unit, but no more than what you would hear for a hotel room unit. It took a few days on the initial run for it to calibrate itself. So I will just need to expect that every year. Overall, it does its job and keeps the room around the set temp. And the sleep mode is a nice feature. The only complaint so far is that I think the remote has a thermometer on it, which the unit will use so make sure its in the hottest part of the room.

Good, cold A/C, but could cover more area

The A/C is good, and blows cold. It was somewhat loud, but most A/C units are when they are actually in the room with you. It says 700sqft, but we had it in a 400sqft room with an open door to another 300sqft room (master and master bath), and on extremely hot days outside, it barely kept the room cool enough to sleep. But, we purchased when our whole home AC died, so we could sleep comfortably until it was fixed, and it served that purpose well enough. We are going to hold on to the unit for emergencies like that, and it works well enough for that. I actually ran it in the garage while working out there, and had it facing my workbench I was working at, and it did not cool down the 3 car garage hardly any at all, but blowing on me kept me out there working that much longer.

I ordered this a/c unit to cool a top floor loft (finished attic) in our townhouse. It gets REALLY hot up there as the unit was constructed in the early 80s so the insulation is probably underpowered plus there is no heat vent to the roof. The windows are 2 tilting skylights so the sun hits them hard and adds to the heating effect. I fit the exhaust flange under the lowest part of the skylight where it tips up and it fit perfectly. I also bought 2 special nylon tilt window seals specifically to work with a portable a/c in order to seal the openings created by the tilting skylight (they cost about $30). I also added some Storm door screening to cover the open end of the exhaust port so no squirrels or birds go inside. The unit cools the room down from high 80°s F to 73° in 15-20 minutes. It works amazingly well! Have not used the dehumidifier or heater or fan functions yet but I really bought it for the a/c. 3 fan speeds plus full auto mode, louvre swing feature, sleep timer, and a full function remote that lets you do every single control panel feature from across the room! Runs effortlessly for hours if needed and maintains a great room temp. One caveat: plug it into a really strong surge protector, it draws rough power to pop some of them. I thought there was a problem with the unit but I switched to a more powerful surge protector and no issues in the month since. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS A/C UNIT!!!

It has saved us during this hot spell. Haven't tried heat yet. So far our only complaint is the beep sound every time you push a button ( change settings ) drives our dog nut's.

It’s quiet and effective. It is actually cooling about 729 sq. Ft. It heats also but I haven’t needed that yet. It is very mobile so I’ve used it in a few different places quite easily.

    No Pushing the Square Feet

Before I purchased this item from Best Buy, I read a lot reviews on the item. My home is 1000 Square Feet and numerous reviews at various websites all said that this cooled their houses even those that had houses over 1000 Square Feet. In truth, it does cool, but there is no pushing the square feet. Perhaps certain house designs allow for better cooling by this unit, but mine did not. Originally we had put it in one of the back bedrooms. All three bedrooms are near each other, so we felt for certain that the three bedrooms would be cooled. That is not what happened. The bedroom it was in, it worked perfect for, but the other two bedrooms (one right across and one right next to it) did not cool at all even with the doors left open. We changed the location of AC unit to our dining room. The dining room, kitchen, living room, and hallway (which leads to the bedrooms and bathroom) are all open. There are no doorways hindering the cooling airflow. Moving it here was a much better option and did seem to significantly work better cooling the majority of the house. The bedroom's are still a bit hot sometimes, but certainly not as bad as they were. I would say, if you are fortunate enough to have a house that is mostly open that this 700 Square Feet AC unit will cool your house. However, if your house is bigger than 700 Square Feet, you would be pushing it at best (despite what other reviewers at various sites have stated). I gave it three stars because it does work and we do see feel a huge change in the cooling of the house. Still, I feel that next time I will spend my money on a window unit which seems to cool way better and can push the square feet.

We bought this for the garage and it works perfect. It is quiet enough and easy to operate. It has easy installation. It didn’t quite fit our window but nothing we couldn’t fix.

We use our unit to cool the main floor of our house. It does great to cool on most days that don't exceed 95 degrees. It does however have a high powered internal fan that blows the cool air mostly out of the right side of the unit, aim accordingly!

Went to the store, the associate at the store was very helpful and ordered it for me. It arrived in 3-4 days. Set up is easy, but I needed to put some screening over the exhaust vent. The room I needed this for has older windows without built in screens. I just wanted to say this to prepare anyone who doesn't have windows with screens. Other than that I highly recommend this unit.

My ac went out and I was told it would cost $4000 for a new one. I bought two of these instead for under $1000. They weren’t hard to install but they are very loud. My place isn’t cold and we have to have fans to move the air around but it is livable in the 95 degrees outside.
