I do own the original series on DVD, but none of the movies. This set seemed like a great idea to get all the movies and upgrade my original set to BluRay. So game on! Picked up the one and only copy of Star Trek 50th at my local Best Buy. Exterior was in new condition, shrink wrapped. Interior was a different story. Box the free Federation PIN came in was crushed and ripped. (See photo). One of the posters was out of the package/folder, free floating in the box. It had a ripped/dented corner (see photo). A few of the disks were popped out of their clips within the boxed set. Any one of these problem might be acceptable as harsh shipping, but all together, not what I expected. The overall box is also not so shelf friendly for home storage. Storing sideways takes up a LOT of space. Considering a return/exchange at this point. Sadly they only had a single copy available. Shrink wrap makes me suspect this was repackaged/restocked. It is only packaging, but as an expensive collectable I expect better.. Have not watched the disks yet, pending exchange. Hopefully they are in better shape than the package.

I am very Happy to have bought this but was surprised when getting it from Best Buy and it said Best Buy only Villains graphic which didn't show up inside. Also was glad it was half the price then Amazon. Also disappointed it didn't have digital copies of TOS and the movies.

This is a great set for anyone who loved the original series. I've watched every episode and movie multiple times.

That feeling of needing this awesome set that is when passing by this huge set in the aisle or gazing at it online. It has 'everything' from the original Star Trek series, including the TV Show, Movies, and Animated Series. The only new thing here is the Bluray edition of the Animated Cartoon. Packaging - A, First of all it looks fantastic and is well organized when you take it apart. The Series and Films come in oversized Bluray holders, similar to the recent releases for Next Generation and Enterprise. There can bit a bit of finagling trying to get the discs out, which is my major issue with it. Quality Picture and Audio - Not much else needs to be said here for those that already have them. Overall well worth the money for first time buyers looking to have the whole of Star Trek Collected in one neat package and perhaps a "maybe" for those that already owned the Blurays of everything except the Animated Series, otherwise the Animated Series was released separately.

First off, this is, without a doubt, the best collection of original series Star Trek episodes and movies out there. You get all of the TV episodes and movies with Kirk, Spock, and Bones on blu-ray discs. The thing is, it could have been better. The video quality was good throughout most of the shows I've watched so far, and I rather like the re-renders of the ships, but I wish Paramount had done better HD transfers of all the movies. As it is, the movies look mediocre, even on Blu-Ray discs. In short, this collection looks good on my DVD shelf, but I wish CBS and Paramount had worked harder to make this collection, and Star Trek's 50th anniversary, more memorable.

I'll be frank, I have not seen any of the original star trek episodes so when their anniversary came around and they released this set, I had to jump on it. The product itself is packaged very nicely. With the ability to purchase digital copies of almost any movie, if I am going to spend money to purchase a physical copy of something, I want to make sure it is of top quality and not something I can find at Walmart. This set has all the movies and the seasons from the first, original run of the tv series. Of course it does not have Deep Space Nine, Next Generation,etc.

For those of you who do not have any of the released material, this is definitely a must. Packaging is very well done and a very nice set for the die hard Star Trek collector. The blu ray touch ups of the original show look absolutely fantastic, improved effects, improved clarity, a top notch effort. All the movies with the original cast look fantastic as well. You also receive the entire 70's cartoon voiced by the original cast. This is a superb value for a Star Trek fan, as you get everything that started the cast from the original show.

This was a Blu Ray double dip for me on everything but the animated series which sells for $30-$40 on it's own. I've read complaints about quality and shipment problems with this set online, but having watched everything (except 2 commentary tracks), I've found no problems. One suggestion is to pick this up in the store and not have it delivered. One difference between the film set and the set included here is that you don't get the same bonus disc so if you own the old one, you might want to keep it. This was definitely worth it (especially if you snagged it on sale).

I love this collection because it has all 79 original series episodes, the animated series and the first six motion pictures all in one set. Each season has special features, so does the animated series and the movies. There is also a bonus disc about the how the first six Star Trek movies where made. There is also a 50th collector's Starfleet insignia badge and illustrated collectible art by Juan Ortiz for the first six movies. This is a must have for any Star Trek fan and is a great addition to the Star Trek collection

This Collection of old-skool Animation episodes I recall as a kid, but never got to see completely, along with all Original Series' Episodes, and in order, helps give a fuller understanding of the Series & certain Movie references. Seeing TV Episodes I never knew existed; always saw same things repeatedly in Syndication. The Collector's Pin is a Trekker's treasure! The choice between Enhanced or Classic Versions to watch is a gem as well. A really AWESOME Package for the sale price I got it for!

I went to Best Buy to pick up something else and walked out with this. I'm admittedly a huge Star Trek fan and could not pass this up. Not to mention I got it for a great price, it included all the original films and episodes of the TV series plus some great extras. I had the original collection on DVD and can thankfully confirm all the extras are brought over to this set. Awesome pick up.

What can I say? This is a must own for any old school Trekkie fan. The original episodes sparkle with clarity on the new blu ray transfer. Wow, does Spock wear a lot of makeup! Even though the hi def treatment shows off some flaws on the budget strapped set it, doesn't matter. It just adds to the charm to one of the most intelligent science fiction shows ever created. This incredible box set also includes all the Star Trek motion pictures with the original cast. And! It also includes all the episodes of 1970s Saturday morning cartoon show all in pristine vivid color! This is truly a must own for any old school Trekkie fan. Beam yourself over to Best Buy and buy this collection before it's too late!

This set has all of the episodes of the original series of "Star Trek" on blu-ray. The episodes look great! Optionally, there are the episodes with new, digital special effects, but those are irrelevant. Plus, there are the animated episodes on blu-ray, and the first six "Star Trek" movies on blu-ray. It is a great set for any true "Star Trek" fan. Now, the cons. While the discs have Saul Bass type of labeling, there are no episode titles to make it easy to know which disc is which. The packaging is nice, but the stacks of discs can be cumbersome. But, those drawbacks should not stop anyone from getting this collection primarily for the television episodes, including the animated series.

Everything in this collection can be purchased individually. This box is really for late adopters or marginal fans that want access to the original cast material. It has all the remastered versions of the 1960's series, the animated series, and the films featuring the original cast (including the director's cut of The Wrath Of Khan).

My daughter bought this for me as a present. I have been a Trek fan since watching the original series as a boy. She began to enjoy watching all the Star Trek shows and movies with me as she was growing up. She knew I would like this and she was absolutely correct. Any Trek fan or even someone just starting to enjoy the Star Trek Universe will enjoy this assembly.

This is the BEST collection ever for fans of the original series! Contains the entire original series plus all the original movies! Also has the animated series as a bonus! The packaging is beautiful and compact as well. Best Buy had it for a great price! Excellent gift for any Trekkie!

While I already have the original series and original cast movies collections, I picked up this edition to add the animated series to my collection. Additionally, the packaging is outstanding and includes som cool collectibles. If you are a fan of Star Trek, then I I highly recommend this box set for your collection.

I'm docking this a star for the lack of a corrected Wrath of Khan - there's a small error in the Kobiyashi Maru section with switched shots of Sulu - and the lack of new discs for the other original series movies (or the director's cut of The Undiscovered Country). That said, you're getting the original series, the animated series, and all of the TOS movies for much less than buying everything separately. The packaging is nice and keeps everything together for display.

I am a big fan of Star Trek and this is a great product to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest science fiction franchises in history. If anyone wants to buy the Star Trek original series on Blu-ray, this is the product to get.
