You must safely eject the drive then turn the device on and off for the new drive to be recognized. Overall, it works well.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this from Best Buy the day my desktop PC died (I think it was the severe thunderstorm the night before did it in). all I had to do was connect the USB cable, plug in the power, and insert the hard drive. I was able to get all the data I needed from the hard drive onto my new notebook PC. I don't know what I would have done without it. this docking station also fits solid state hard drives, so, if my notebook dies, i'll be able to recover the data.

This hard drive docking station allowed me to transfer all my latest data to my notebook PC. It was so easy to use.........straight out of the box.......just plug in, connect to PC and turn it on!

However, the eSATA connection does not work. At this point, I don't have any way to verify if it is an eSATA failure on the dock, the computer, or the drive. If I determine it is not an issue with the dock, I will update my rating accordingly.
