I had to get Supergirl: The Complete First Season on DVD and it was great. I saw every episode there was of Supergirl. I mean the actress who plays Kara Zor-El in this Supergirl is a very good actress. I mean, Melissa Benoist, she is truly a one of a kind actress that you could sign autographs with and even take a couple of pictures with her. She is very beautiful and she is my favorite TV actress in my playbook. I can't wait to see Benoist once again go up in flight and take action on the Second Season of Supergirl. Can't wait to see that one on DVD or Blu-Ray.

I'll admit to feeling a little buyer's regret when I first bought the season for Supergirl: Season 1... but I certainly don't feel that way now. The show has gotten progressively better with each episode and I've been delighted to see that they're FINALLY connecting a kryptonian to the wider DC Universe - even a version that's different from the comics; neither Supergirl nor Superman should exist in a world where they're the ONLY metahumans/super-powered people around (a flaw in some earlier television shows and film). But not only that, the cast and their characters have gotten better too, becoming more and more three-dimensional as the season goes on; I particularly like how they've shown Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) to be an actual human being with both virtues and flaws; ambitious and driven, but ultimately a decent person - not just the ice queen/business-woman-tyrant stock character I was expecting. Melissa Benoist was cast perfectly. I was a little unsure of her at first... but no - she's Supergirl; she's a genuine superhero. She and the writers have given the character many of the same core qualities that make Superman great - and I don't mean his powers. Superman remains one of the greatest characters in comics because of WHO he is, not what he can do. And Benoist's Kara has it too: she's a moral, ethical person who has genuine concern and empathy for others. And she has shown a real warmth toward those around her on the show. But at the same time, she's not "perfect" either; she's not one-dimensional. She feels unsure sometimes and gets frustrated and upset like the rest of us. What can I say - Benoist can act and I find myself looking forward to seeing her Supergirl each episode. If you haven't given this show a chance, you should.

I've enjoyed watching comic book adaptations. This one was a surprise. This series focuses on the young Kryptonian who was sent to Earth to protect her cousin, but by the time she arrives, he has already grown up to be Superman and is the world's protector. She is placed with a family to learn Earth ways and, once an adult, gets a job as an assistant to a publishing CEO. The series brings in people from the Superman mythos (Jimmy Olsen, for example) as well as others from the DC Universe (not going to say as it would be a spoiler). This series is a good re-working of a young, inexperienced super-heroine just learning how to use her powers. The only objection I have to this series is one that I have with other CW super-hero series, namely, the hero seems to have a need to reveal their secret identity (or powers) to others and form a group to support their fight against crime.

I have to admit, when the series first started, I wasn't completed sold on it, but after the second episode, it started getting better and better. There were a couple things, here and there, that I didn't like, but overall, its a good show, worthy of me buying the blu-ray box set to add to my collection of DC shows. Which include: 1. Gotham ... (season 3 starts Sept 19, 2016 at 8pm Monday on 'FOX') 2. Supergirl ... (season 2 starts Oct 10, 2016 at 8pm Monday on 'The CW') 3. The Flash ... (season 3 starts Oct 4, 2016 at 8pm Tuesday on 'The CW') 4. Arrow ... (season 5 starts Oct 5, 2016 at 8pm Wednesday on 'The CW') 5. DC's Legends of Tomorrow ... (season 2 starts Oct 13, 2016 at 8pm Thursday on 'The CW')

This show often tries TOO hard to be feminist (a problem that still occurs even now), but when it focuses on being a superhero story first, it still manages to succeed. Cat Grant is enjoyable to watch and the crossover with Flash is pure joy.

Finally, a superhero who isn't brooding or angry all the time. Supergirl found its perfect tone right from the start. It manages to get stellar performances from its cast (Calista Flockhart is especially impressive as Cat Grant). As for the Blu ray set, it's a must-have if you're a fan of the show. The show looks amazing in HD. And the bonus features, while mostly brief, are nice to have. Check the blooper reel! A no-brainer for the superhero fan in your life. And a much safer bet for family entertainment than the rest of the DC television universe.

Looking back at the heights reached by The Flash in his first season, I was a little disappointed in the first 3 episodes of the series when they were on CBS. A friend convinced me it was worth watching, so I picked up the first season. Yes, those first 3 episodes were filled with cliched moments and cheesy dialogue, but they worked that out a bit as the show went on. However it was the beginning of episode 4 that drastically shifted how I view this show - seeing the episode start with Supergirl flying through the city and taking out an advanced drone was a heck of a way to start things off. Only looks to be getting better now that it's moving to The CW in the fall.

Been a fan of the character of Supergirl since I was a kid. Saw the disappointing movie with an excellent performance by Helen Slater. Enjoy the very hot Laura Vandervoort as Supergirl on Smallville. Now comes Glee alumni Melissa Benoist as a girl next door Supergirl. She handles the part well, some of the changes the producers brought to the myth work, others don't. Their take on Jimmy Olson was not the least bit in character. But the special effects ,writing and ensemble support for the lead character make the series soar.

This is a very hopeful, optimistic show. Great fun. It's a bit cheesy and campy at times however overall it's uhh...superfun. All of the characters are very likeable especially Melissa Benoist who I absolutely adore for this role. She's beautiful yet strong and fun and endearing. Benoist really shines in this performance. The rest of the cast is good too. I kinda wish it had a more structured narrative instead of a villain-of-the-week setup but if you approach it as a light-hearted show for some clean fun, then I think you'll enjoy it as well.

"Supergirl" is actually better than I thought it would be. I was expecting an over the top, campy superhero show. The lovely Melissa Benoist -- playing Supergirl -- is actually a breath of fresh air. Like a girl next door, she is really good in the role, as well as former "Ally McBeal" star Calista Flockhart. She was the breakout in the season. The rest of the cast is pretty solid. Fortunately, I was able to pick up the season 1 for only $10 on Black Friday. What a deal! Its looks like $10 every day after Thanksgiving.

Supergirl flies unto blu ray with Season 1. Overall a good and solid season and very entertaining. The series does a decent job at gradually introducing us to the players and changing up some familiar faces to those that understand and follow the comics. The series looks and sounds great on this blu ray offering. This set even offers a digital copy. I would have liked to see Superman a little more in this season but the title is Supergirl and they involve him nicely. It's a good start to what hopefully will be a solid show.

The next installment of the DC Comics TV shows produced by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, etc.) This show is the 1st female superhero show of the line & has all the heart you'd want & expect from the classic DC Comic character, Supergirl! There's plenty of action & some big surprises along the way include a crossover into one of the other DC shows previously mentioned! Get all caught up in time for season 2 which introduces the show on the same network & line-up as the rest of the DC shows!
