I didn't have alot to spend on a cooling pad and while at the BB store spotted this one. I didn't want a metal kind and wanted one that had quiet operation. This cooling pad is light weight, adjustable tilt and very quiet and efficient in cooling. Great product for low price!

Suitable size to take anywhere. Works good for me.

This was a gift for my (80+ y/o) mother-in-law to go with her new 17" laptop. She says she's very happy with it's performance because it's quiet and does what she wanted it to do: keeps her legs and the laptop cool so neither over-heats! :) She also reported that it's easy to work, it's lightweight and no probs at all with this Chill-Mat. She's well pleased which makes us happy for sure! :)

I do a lot of work from home in a recliner with my laptop and the intensive computing makes the machine very hot on my lap. This Chill Mat provides several points of relief for working this way: separates the machine from your lap, cools the bottom of the machine with two usb powered (quiet) fans, can be propped up I the back for better typing angle, it's light and when collapsed can fit easily in my computer case with minimal added weight, the usb cable can access either right or left sides of the computer and can be locked in place when not used, it's also just the right size to fit on my lap between the arms of my recliner! It still has a solid flat surface on the bottom of the Mat to allow body heat to warm your lap, but it's a huge improvement from being directly on your lap. I haven't measured computer temps to see if the fans really do that much for the machine and it's hard to tell if any air is really flowing out from under it; however, it is also nice to put up on a table for a tilted typing surface or for use in bed. I bought this on sale over a month ago and recently noted that it was still on sale for about $20, which is about as much as I'd want to pay, but the regular price was closer to $30-40.

Really does a great job keeping my laptop (and my lap!) cool, and doesn't seem to be a huge drain on the battery life. Fans are super quiet, too.

My previous laptop overheated and died because I never realized just how much it needs cooling. This product gives a nice buffer between your body and the laptop, has nice fans to keep it cool, is quiet, and collapses into a smaller size with ease. Plus its fans are charged by the USB port of your laptop, so no extra batteries needed.

My laptop was badly overheating, even after opening the case and cleaning out all the dust bunnies. Core Temp reported temps consistently over 200F, and 120-140F even when idle. The laptop got so hot, the plastic case was starting to melt where its internal fan ducts the hot air out. Enter this cooler. My laptop is large format, so I had very limited options among coolers. But among the available choices, this one seemed best, so I opted to give it a try. I'm very happy that I did. The laptop is only slightly wider than the cooler, and sits on it nicely. The fans (two in the cooler) are very quiet. I was concerned that they wouldn't move enough air to make a difference, but they do. Even when running my most demanding software, Core Temp reports temps around 140-150F, and about 110-115F when idle -- a *huge* improvement. It looks good, sits comfortably in my lap, and the surface is easy to keep clean. It is USB powered, so it ties up one of the USB ports on your laptop. If you don't have a spare port free, you'll need a powered USB hub. On the other hand, this means there's no extra power cord or brick to have to deal with. Overall, I consider it a plus that it's USB powered.

I bought the right size for my laptop and it goes the whole width. It plugged into a USB port and runs very quietly. The contours allow it to easily sit in my lap if I choose or I can sit it on the desktop and know that it is going to remain exactly where I put it while I use the keyboard. Very glad that I bought it!

I have a gaming computer that I often play while sitting in my recliner. Even though it has it's own fan, it still gets wickedly warm. This chill mat is light, quiet and fits my widescreen laptop very well. I don't even notice it's there except for the fact that my laptop remains cool and quiet.

Our home laptop is used daily. Our previous chill mat lasted one year. The Targus is definitely a step up. The unit is light. You can change the angle of the pad by a simple lever. The fans run quietly. It cools as expected. I would recommend this unit to anyone for either home or office use.

This laptop cooler is worth the money. It keeps the entire machine much cooler. I like the fact that it adjust and is lightweight. I thought the fans would be noisy...not so. It is very quiet. Also, it fits easily in my laptop bag.

I was happy to find this laptop cooler for my 17 inch PC because decent looking ones that accommodate larger PCs are few and far between these days! It works as it should -- keeps my PC from overheating -- but I have to say if I'm watching a movie or something on my computer I have to put the volume all the way up because the fan noise is rather intrusive. I also purchased this one because it allows for two levels (flat or raised) but honestly I probably didn't need that -- just FYI. Other than that, great, well made product!

This is a far better choice than my first fan for this new computer. My first one burned out after less than a year. This one is larger, lighter,allows more air movement under my computer, and quieter.

I mainly bought this for my HP Envy dv7 17" laptop, but it's also been used with a Dell Studio XPS 15. It works very well with the Dell because of the location of the air vents on the bottom of the Dell, but it's a little less effective with the HP. When used with the Dell, the internal fan in the laptop rarely throttles up or get loud. The key thing to look for with a fan-based cooling stand/mat is to see where the cooling fans/vents are located with respect to the vents on the bottom of your laptop. I like the folding design that allows you to prop up your laptop, and I like the front lip that helps prevent the laptop from sliding off the stand/mat. The stand/mat is a little too small for my HP. The HP laptop overhangs the sides and back a little, so the laptop tends to not be very stable on the stand/mat, especially if the stand/mat is folded into its most flat position (the laptop screen makes the laptop top heavy causing it to lean back and teeter on the back of the stand/mat). The fans in the stand/mat are silent, so you won't know they are working unless you look at them spinning and feel the airflow.

We bought this because the associate said chill mats can extend the life of the laptop. We had a laptop previously overheat and I lost all my pictures because it crashed the hard drive. We spent the extra money because this model had 2 fans opposed to the one fan in the others. Plus, I have had great customer service from Targus regarding another product. This was ready to go straight out of the packaging. Just put under laptop and plug into the USB port. It isn't loud and seems to be doing the job because I am no longer feeling a ton of heat coming from the side of the computer. You can also adjust the height/angle of the computer which is a plus. No complaints so far and I am considering buying another one for our other laptop.

It may just this one, but the fans are noisy. They do a great job of cooling my Toshiba laptop, but I can hear them running over most things I do unless I have the speakers up at full volume. It fits neatly into a backpack and makes a great stand for the laptop, so the noise is my only complaint.

When streaming videos my laptop gets very hot. When using this product that is no longer an issue.

It' a good unit, fits my 17.3 inch laptop well, the pegs well within the edge, and fans are whisper quiet, I can hardly hear them. Felt lines the bottom, with plastic along the edges, runs on USB power, which mostly tuck away inside of the unit. Primary feature is a tab you twist, to make it incline, or it can be used flat. Either way, there is a space between for the fans (2) to empty into.
