Great TV until it stops working
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV 10 months ago before it started showing a single solid vertical line on the screen. After speaking with TCL support, they sent me a replacement TV that stopped working the very same day (frozen and cycling solid colors). Now I’m arguing with TCL Support to try and get this replaced again! If you get a replacement TV from TCL, pray it works or you’re stuck with it.

Great tv
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really great buy. We love it. We placed it in a corner of our family room and had a limited space for a tv stand, so we turned the feet of the tv inward, and it fits perfectly on top of it.

Amazing for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.INTRO: I have had this tv for 6 days now. Prior to purchase, I spent hours on youtube researching what I wanted, even spending time in the Burlington, NC store to see images of TV's in person where security was called on me, I guess research is suspicious. Everything looked amazing and the only tv I researched not displayed was the TCL R615. I was set on the samsung q6f but took my shot with TCL after all the hype for the price. PROS: This picture is amazing. I used YouTube to find the best picture settings and the brightness may not be considered high end but watching movies in a dim or dark room makes me squint on bright highlights, explosions, etc. And the first time the tv went black, I thought it cut off and all blacks are that way. If it's suppose to be black, it surely is. I love planet earth and blue planet and to watch these in 4K HDR on this tv will make you want to buy it immediately. The roku system is easy to use and the roku app for your phone gives some added features making it even easier and nicer all together. The app will become your smart remote. Navigating menus is very easy. Overall, Picture and Usage is ***** (5star) CONS: 5hrs. after hooking this tv up, it developed 2 stuck pixels. I noticed them turning on a wide screen movie by luck but tv is so bright that after watching content even for a few seconds, my eyes can't adjust for a while to even find those pixels. Next is motion, the interpolation is horrible. Ghosting, artifacts, out right disappearing. Watch blue planet with smoothing on medium, birds flying over the ocean would disappear and come back. Slow scenes on Venom for instance has lots of ghosting and artifacts. I basically turned it off and use the natural cinema feature. I don't get the soap opera affect I like but the picture is amazing. CCONCLUSION: I've fought myself for the last few days to take this tv back and get the q6f like I wanted initially but it keeps coming back to the picture and unless you have $2000+ I just don't think you'll come close to it. If I go for q6 I lose picture quality for better motion and yes I game but I'm a visual person and I choose picture over motion.

Broken after 15 months
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the TV in Oct 2018, and it is now completely broken all of sudden. Green white strips on the screen, factory reset did nothing. Of course this would happen shortly after the 12 month warranty. Lesson learned, no more TCL products.

Bought it, replaced it, replaced it again!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought one and had it delivered at my parents' place as a gift. They received it and within one week, there were black spots all around. Got it replaced with another one and within ONE day, the replacement also had black spots, even though it was a newer manufactured date. Apparently this is a known issue with this model. My parents are a bit older, so they were very frustrated at having to unbox another one and try to set it up. I wish TCL had made better panels. Very upset and wish their support would compensate for such burden.

Tv failing just out of warranty
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Walked into Best Buy and saw this TCL 6 series 65 inch TV and was impressed by the reviews. Just over a year and the television is already failing. The screen has multiple black lines and black spots in the screen. I wanted to believe this TV was a good investment but I guess I was wrong. I will never buy another TCL product again. You expect when you spend nearly $1,000 on a TV that it will last several years not several months. Do your research you will find this is a common problem among TCL televisions.

Good picture quality and OS... terrible quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was enjoying my TV.. then 2 months after purchase my screen started flickering and the TV was not responsive. Very happy with the tv, just one flaw
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first tried to order from Amazon, but they were and are sold out. I finally purchased from BB. I previously had a Vizio M60-C3 and was satisfied, but not thrilled with it. This new TV blew me away!!! I love the Roku interface. It makes navigating very easy. Picture quality- Absolutely AMAZING!!! I can see tiny details that I was unable to see before without HDR. I have seen many complaints about vertical banding on bright screens. I do have some vertical banding, but it only noticeable during the hockey playoffs or if it put on a full white screen for a period of time. For normal viewing it is not enough for me to complain about or ask for a replacement, but it is apparent it is there. My PS4 games look absolutely amazing!!!! My only complaints I would have with this would be the vertical banding during the bright white screens, but as I stated on my tv it is not a make or break. Overall this is a fantastic tv for the price and I would recommend this to anyone who asks me.

Well worth the price, beautiful picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that earlier this year, I tried the 55" version of this TV and returned it. Unfortunately, I got one of the panels that had the banding issues that is now well-documented. The issue even gained a nickname: playing the "panel lottery." I've read some reviews where people have tried more than two times to get it right. I decided to try my luck again after I was disappointed with the Sony X900F, purchased on Amazon. I won't go into that TV since this is a review for the TCL. When Best Buy put the 65" version on sale at such a good price, I took my chances and got one without any issues. This is the TCL 6-series you have probably heard or read about. It's a TV with a picture rivaling the TVs costing far more, and really, I think it's worthy of the hype, and is one of the best at any price, with an LCD panel. It's plenty bright for beautiful HDR images, the full array local dimming (FALD) works so well that blooming is kept at a minimum. Crazy as it sounds, I love watching HDR demo videos on YouTube just to see how amazing the picture is. This TV doesn't have the motion blur and clarity options of the Sony, but TCL does allow some adjustments, so you can have the soap opera effect, which I like. For most people, I think you will find a picture you like. I think only a small few won't be satisfied. My two negatives aren't really a big deal. While using Roku TV gives you a ton of options to view, the remote leaves a lot to be desired. I wish they would add numbers to dial in the exact channel you want. The Roku app on Android is highly recommended. It gives you more options and it allowed you to fine tune the picture even more. The speakers are typical of TVs. Get a soundbar, it sound system if sound is important to you. If you get this TV free of the banding issues, you're sure to love this TV. It has a gorgeous picture that actually makes you want to watch TV. PS It also works well for video games, no matter which system you own. I

Excellent TV for the upgrade to 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading tons of reviews on all the available 65” 4K TV’s, I decided to put my faith and money in a company I had never heard of, (and a TV I had never actually seen) TCL. AVS Forum (an outstanding website for information and opinions of very knowledgeable people) had several people who used tv calibration equipment to test this TV vs other brands that cost 3x as much. The TCL tested out as good, if not better in all major testing catagories. After having it home and watching movies, playing games, and streaming on various services, I could not be more thrilled. It is absolutely a tremendous value TV w/ an exceptional interface (Roku). 4K streaming in HDR is stunning and playing games on my XBOX 1x really lets the TV shine if you are into gaming. I had reservations about the price. How could it be as good as these other brands at half or even a third of the cost? My belief is that TCL doesn’t spend money on things like floor space at retail vendors, which is why you don’t see any of them on display when you walk into Best Buy, not because they are not high quality built and performing TV’s. TCL seems content, at least for now, to let consumers “do their homework” and have already made the decision to buy, without actually viewing the TV. This allows them to pass on additional savings to the consumer. Considering this is the process by which most products are purchased now, I feel it’s a realistic and smart approach to current marketing. The only issues at all would be the following: the TV’s corners can be slightly dark when an enitirely lighter color screen is displayed due to its panel display build, but it’s only noticeable to me if I actually look for it and that’s only when it’s a total light image screen. In other words, almost never. Also, there is a noticeable diminish in color quality when the viewing angle is off axis. Not a huge deal for me because I am always directly in front of my TV, but if there will be a lot of off-axis viewing in your room for whatever reason, it’s something to consider. With the money I saved, I was able to buy a new sound system (Sonos). My “experience factor now when watching TV and playing games is off the chart high. I could not be happier.

Best Picture for the Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has been reviewed by CNET and a few other reputable review sites. They claim that this TV is the absolute best TV you can get at its price point. I completely agree. This TV can get very bright when it needs to. Blacks look great as well. The local diming backlight with 120 zones works really well. 4K material with HDR looks absolutely incredible. Non 4K media looks great as well. Star Wars Battlefront via PS4 looks stunning. Is the picture as good as OLED? No. But if you have a room that is bright and you are sitting in front of the TV and not off to the side, you may not notice the difference. You will have to spend more than twice as much for an OLED and it's not worth it in my opinion. We have 4 Sony TVs in our house and this is our first TCL. The only improvement I'm looking for with this TV is for it to be available in larger screen sizes. I will gladly purchase an 85 inch version of this TV at double the price. Bring it on TCL!

Great Value, Sports is a problem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off if I was a cord cutter this would be 5 Stars. Roku is above and beyond anything out there. The TCL is an awesome value. I had a 2016 Samsung TV I loved and it was hit by lightning and I replaced it with a Samsung QLED 6 series that I immediately returned. The TCL was on sale for $868 and I jumped on it. The TCL is better than the QLED no question. Watching Netflix and Amazon in 4k is unbelievably good. My problem with the TCL is sports. Mine had the dirty screen effect I have read about but it wasn’t a deal breaker, the motion handling was for me. I have a lot a friends over to watch college football and it just isn’t good enough. I eventually returned it and decided on a Sony 900F and I am very happy. If sports isn’t your thing and especially if you are a cord cutter by all means get the TCL, it’s perfect for that.

An amazing TV for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first time trying an "off" brand TV (although I believe TCL are the 3rd largest TV supplier in the world!) so I was a bit hesitant but after reading several great reviews, on various sites, I thought I would give it a try, and I'm glad I did. This TV has the ideal amount of features for us, mainly due to it being powered by Roku which is a very friendly streaming media player. Having owned an older Roku TV, this one is much faster and a joy to use. The TV picture is fantastic, being both 4K and HDR (all popular formats) and has a very good range of brightness. The sound isn't quite as good as some TVs so I would definitely consider using a soundbar or home theater set-up. The only negative I can think of is that the remote control this one comes with is the standard IR remote and not wifi so you have to have line of sight to the TV (and it doesn't have voice input). Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

65" TCL 6 Series upgrade from Insignia 4K 55"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the 65R615 at Best Buy in early August 2018 when my 55" Insignia developed problems with the sound cutting out. I'm out of their delivery area and took care to transport the 65" TCL in the upright position. The TCL box is impressive with a lot of protective foam and cardboard. Setup was easy but required two people due to its size. There are reports of the TCL 6 Series having defective screens that show vertical lines/shadows in the picture. My TCL 65R615 does not have that problem. It has a beautiful picture with some very minor blooming in the corners that is only noticeable on a light solid background. As recommended in most reviews, I have found that the "Movie" setting has the best overall color. I max the overall brightness and in advanced settings, move backlight and contrast to 100. The picture is bright and the black levels are very dark. I do see a little more background reflection on the screen than I did on the Insignia when the room is bright. The quality of the picture depends entirely on the source material. 4K material is beautiful as are some of the HDR demos. A lot of HDR material is hard to recognize as HDR, making it difficult to see the benefit of HDR or Dolby Vision. The TV does an excellent job up scaling 1080/HD material to 4K. I have not used the TV for gaming. On the down side, I have had the TV crash a few times, I think because I was too fast on the remote. Only one crash required a hard reboot (unplugging the set). I have a sound bar and sub for sound. I do like the Roku interface. It's quick and easy to navigate. The outstanding selection of streaming apps seems endless. The remote is small and simple to use, the Roku app on your phone or tablet provides additional benefits. In closing, the TCL 65" 4k HDR clearly out performs the 4K 55" Insignia. The Insignia had a very respectable 4k picture with good source material. The TCL just moves it up a notch with a wider color gamut , superior black levels and brightness, producing an amazing picture when watching quality material.

Stop looking and buy now.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My venture with TCL started this past June when I finally decided to take the 4K plunge. I had been using a high end Samsung Plasma for several years and decided it was time to try for something better without breaking the bank. Everything I was reading was pointing me towards TCL unless I wanted to go OLED at 3 to 4 times the cost, and building on the TCL 2017 offering reputation, the 2018 6 series was destroying the competition. I took the plunge and bought the 55" R615 and was blown away. Everything was amazing, from normal cable upscaling, to 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, gaming, inky deep blacks, the roku platform, everything was incredible. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I was looking to upgrade to the TCL 65" 6 series. With cash in hand I headed to Best buy to get my new TV. Soon there in, I was bombarded by blue shirts and magnolia reps telling me I was making a mistake and that there are much better TVs to be had. Ok, so I was sidetracked and wound up buying the Samsung Q6F 65" for around $1400. I gave it a week to try and fix the initial problems but to no avail, the TV was just awful regardless the settings. The blacks were light gray, normal cable TV was blurry and a stutter fest, and all together it was a inferior viewing expierence. After that week I returned it and decided to try the highly coveted Vizio P65-F1. Although better than the Q6F, it still lacked the picture quality of my 55" TCL R615 and I found the 4K And HDR to be slightly behind as well. The straw that broke this camel's back though was the horrible user interface. It was slow, jerky, and unpleasant to use. Add that all up and it was still an inferior product to TCL. Next, I returned that and spent about an hour playing with the Sony 65" 900F in store. It was just about on par from what I have grown to expect from my TCL but about $700 more. Add to that, it only has 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, and a less than built in roku expierence, and my choice was solidified. I finally picked up my 65" TCL R 615 to replace the "55 TCL R 615 I had hanging there for the past several months. I expected a lot and was not disappointed. It was everything I had grown to love about the 55" and more. Some day I will go OLED when they can work out the burn in issues, but for now, the TCL 6 series is not just the best bang for buck TV, its perhaps the best TV you can buy. There is a reason Best Buy won't hang these TVs on the showroom floor, and when they do it is off to the side and up high so no one can see how they rival and even out perform all of their large commission products. Do yourself a favor, forget price, forget brand loyalty, grab this TV and start to enjoy the best picture money can buy outside of OLED.

Amazing Value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV for my media room and so far it seems like an Amazing Value! This thing is MASSIVE ... coming from a 46" TV it feel like a movie screen. The ROKU interface is very attractive and responsive 4K content streams via my PLEX app without issue (over Ethernet) Gameplay on my XBOX One X looks great (make sure you're in gaming mode and the Input is set to HDMI 2.0 instead of AUTO) Roku Phone application will give you much more control over your video settings and will allow "private listening" 1080p looks great upscaled! I couldn't ask for more out of a sub $1000 TV CONS: On flat grey test screens the picture can look a little "dirty", but isn't noticeable when watching content. I am hoping it balances with time. My TV has no banding issues. There is a small lip under the mounting holes; it may interfere with some wall mounts. The speakers are alittle "tin-y", but I don't think anyone expects these TVs to sound amazing FYI - The feet are invert-able in case it won't fit on your TV stand as recommended.
