I spent a lot of time reviewing TVs and was on somewhat of a budget. I know Sony’s can be the best but are relatively expensive. This TCL came highly recommended by an instore Sony Embassador that said it’s the best TV 65” or 55” under $1000. And it still might be but I would like to compare it to Vizios M Series and the Sony X800G.
So I received the 65” and installed it. Setup was no problem. Roku seemed intuitive but I didn’t really get into it. After watching HD Comcast channels and Netflix I discovered a few things. Off the bat the TV does have excellent contrast, brightness and colors that pop. I didn’t bother adjusting picture settings at first. But what I found was that regular TV viewing and sports just didn’t look that good with the picture seeming somewhat washed out and Motion on ESPN showing an unacceptable blur. My Panasonic plasma looked much better. So if all you are doing is regular HD tv watching which I mostly do, this isn’t the TV for you. I think the Sony would be better. Now where I think it excelled what watching movies and Netflix. Picture and contrast and colors looked great and motion not as bad. I didn’t get to test HDR or 4K streaming or gaming which is where I think this TV really excels and gets the rave reviews. So yes it is a very nice tv for the price but depending on how you watch TV and the quality of the content will determine wether this is a good choice. I’m going to gamble on the 2019 6 Series after returning this bc I mostly watch sports and regular TV and this just didn’t do it for me and my wife even noticed the lackluster performance of normal tv watching. If the new one doesn’t look better I’ll be between the Sony X800G for only $500 with no back lighting and much less brightness but very clear picture and motion or might bite the bullet on the Sony X950G for $1000 which I assume will check all the boxes but at an added cost. Hoping the 2019 6 series delivers. Ill try to adjust the picture settings this time as I’ve seen that turning off motion blur helps. Why have it default on in the first place then? Hope this review helps.

After I returned my first TCL tv with a dead pixel I can say that I am absolutely blown away by the picture quality of this tv. I bought the Vizio M65-E0 tv last September and was a little disappointed in it. I bought the TCL because of the ROKU interface, the 3 HDMIs that support 4K HDR, and the superior image quality it has over the Vizio. It's crazy watching a movie in HDR, just how dark the darks are in one part of the screen and how bright lighting on a different part of the screen can be and how each area can be so well detailed. The 120 local dimming zones is truly something special.
The color is vibrant and fast-action scenes are smooth without any pixelation when using the correct settings.
Playing Xbox One X (Tomb Raider) I couldn't help but just smile because of how nice it looked. I like refresh rates over resolution and this TCL holds it's own in that department with the 240 Natural Motion. I know it's not a true 240Hz refresh rate, but I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Everything about this television is quality!

I purchased this TV in June and have had it for about a month. I purchased it at Best Buy for several reasons: free takeaway of old TV (which was a 270lb tube hdtv), wide selection, and excellent customer service. I did a lot of research prior to making this decision and came to the conclusion that the TCL 6 Series was the best bang for the buck. Since these are very popular tv's, they weren't available for display. I did check out the LG OLED and Samsung QLED models that were on display and the pictures were incredible. At $3000, it was way out of my price range so I wanted to find a television which came close without breaking the bank.
Best Buy delivered the tv when promised and set it up (5 minutes max). It took 2 guys to haul away the old television and they were very professional. Once I went through the menus on the TV to set up, everything worked flawlessly. I didn't experience any of the banding or lighting issues that some other people have experienced and since I've owned the tv for about a month, no issues have occurred. The picture quality is not OLED or QLED but it is extremely good. The blacks are very dark and the details you can make out in many scenes is amazing. I am extremely impressed by the quality of this tv as well as features offered via ROKU. Another great feature of this television is that the legs can be inverted so that it will fit on my tv stand. It is only 52" long and the tv fits perfectly with the legs in the inverted position.
This past weekend, Best Buy had the TV on sale for $872.99. I paid $969.99 for it and contacted Best Buy for a price match of the sale price. Since I purchased the TV less than a month ago, Best Buy credited the difference as well as provide a discount for the 5 year geek squad protection I purchased. My total savings was approx. $135 (including tax). That says a lot about their customer service which is most appreciated as compared to shopping with online retailers.
I also purchased a Samsung 3.1 soundbar with the wireless subwoofer which was very easy to set up with the tv. Everything is working flawlessly and the 4K content is amazing (via Directv). It's unbelievable to watch baseball (when televised) in 4K and it's almost as if you're in the stadium.
I've always purchased known names for electronics but based upon my experience with TCL, they won't be unknown much longer

I have been looking for a new 4K large (55" - 75") TV for approximately 3 years. I kept putting off purchasing one because of an Intel-like tick-tock cycle of TV model releases. It seemed like the oldest models, hard to find, were better performing than the models that were just over a year old. With that being said, I saw that Best Buy had the TCL 65R615 on sale for one of the lowest prices I had ever seen. This included those so called Black Friday sales.
This TV DOES NOT have the best quality of any other TV you can find at Best Buy. What it does have is a great price, Roku built in, an actual TV tuner, 3 HDMI ports, and the ability to calibrate it yourself using recommendations from sites like rtings dot com. You may have to manually tune the settings depending on how bright your room is depending on if the sun is shining or it is cloudy. To me this is not a problem. The TVs sound is not bad, but I would certainly not call it great. The TV is quite light for its size and was easy to mount on the wall. It does not come with a bracket, but has the holes for mounting to a bracket that you would need to purchase separately. I cannot give any feedback on the feet/stand as I have not used them, nor plan to ever do so. The remote is IR instead of an RF remote. This is kind of a bummer. However, Roku will sell you an RF remote via their website if you would prefer one. The inputs are all facing the right side. This makes it easier, not easy, but easier to connect your devices. I have not tested the built in wireless as I am using the ethernet (hard wire) port. The Roku Smart TV software performs quickly and is rather user friendly. It is not ad free, but this is not a problem in my book. Blu-ray movies playing on a 1st gen Xbox One look great. Normal OTA TV looks pretty spectacular as well. The TV performs great for gaming. I have tested with Xbox One, WiiU, and a Nintendo Switch. Games look great and flow smoothly. I would highly recommend this TV.

After watching tons of videos and reading lots of reviews, I chose this TCL 65" 6 Series. For the first time in my life, I weighed the cost-to-features trade off and decided to 'settle' for this TV, rather than splurge for the LG C8 OLED.
If you read 1-Star reviews about this TV, they will mention a lack of grey uniformity and 'banding' as a result of imperfections in the lighting zones. TCL's response to these customer complaints is that those deficits are common with LCD TVs (which is true). The fact of the matter, however, is that both of those deficits are not noticeable in typical viewing. Watching a movie with this TV is FANTASTIC. Playing RDR2 on my PS4 Pro is gorgeous - although, yes, when there is a scene with a sweeping skyline, I notice some darker areas/lack of lighting uniformity. Whenever I see those spots, I think about the fact that I got this HUGE, bright, vivid TV on special for $899. The cheapest I ever found the perfect LG OLED C8 was $2,100 (on another site).
This TV was a replacement for a high end Samsung from 2012 that had '240hz' refresh and local dimming - I got it on sale, at the time, for $1,900. The fact that the TCL features (65", 4K, HDR, Dolby) have trickled down to a $900 TV is astounding. Choose this TV. Buy this TV now and then save your money and wait for OLED TV's to have true 120hz refresh rates. By then, there will be A LOT more 4K/HDR content to stream. GET THIS TV NOW, while you can! It'll take care of you for a good 4 years.

This TCL 6-Series 65" TV is simply amazing. It supports 4K, HDR10, Dolby Atmos....
The picture quality is top notch. This is the first TV in years that I didn't need to adjust the picture/colors in some way to get a great image. It's bright, super clear, lag free, and really shines when running a 4K HDR Blu-Ray from my Xbox One S. I'm really happy with this purchase.
The only negative I can mention is that the remote is a little slow at times. Doesn't matter when I'm watching the best image I've seen short of an OLED TV that costs 2.5X as much.

The only gripe I have is that on this model TCL, the 615 version the remote is only infra red, not rf, which is on the 616 version. But the 616 version only has the 120 hz refresh (actually 50 hz), while the 615 has the 240 hz refresh - as it one model has to give up one feature in order to get the other feature. Seems like stupid marketing games. Having both would have gotten five stars.
Otherwise, the 4K TV is full featured, even has Dolby HDR, unheard of at this price. Makes streaming easy. Out performs all others close to the price I paid, $700.00. A very detailed manual can be downloaded online; I printed it out.

The TCL Model:65R615SKU:6204551 smokes even the OLED on 'Post Calibration' @ 9.7 while OLED @ 9.6
....
I bought this 65' 2018 TV @ $499 on sale
Best Buy did not even place this TV
on the SALES FLOOR during the sale.
You literally had to ASK for it BY MODEL NUMBER Model:65R615SKU:6204551 in order to BUY IT.
The TCL 2018 + 2019 are similar but the 2018 (if you can still find it) cost less money and STILL works with the VOICE REMOTE. ( although I would STILL buy the FIRESTICK 4K voice remote which is SUPERIOR to Roku in every way.
Both 2018 +2019 use the QLED technology inside
but the licence was purchased as generic by TCL,
so in 2018 TCL could not say it was QLED
and truth be known" this GENERIC tweek by TCL of the QLED HARDWARE is better than Samsung name brand.
Even at the normal price $700
it's STILL a value 'IF' you can find the 65' 2018 version.
NOTE - TCL makes this MODEL: 65R615SKU:6204551
TV specifically for BEST BUY --
If you go to COSCO the hardware is slightly different inside via REMOTE CONTROL.
So... if you can FIND this TV still ON-SALE @ $499 in the near future PURCHASE IT with the Extended WARRANTY. $189
AND.... you will have a GREAT TV even when it's sitting next to a OLED

The TCL 6-series TV represents an amazing value for the price. Overall picture quality has been incredibly solid with minimal calibration required. Going "next-level" above what this set offers requires spending quite a bit more for an OLED set. The integrated Roku is both a blessing and a curse. It's definitely superior to competing, vendor-specific "smart" functionality and it has some extra tricks up its sleeve if you're using an over-the-air (OTA) antenna for reception of local stations. The addition of a properly-sized USB flash drive to an available port on the TV enables the ability to pause live broadcasts which is pretty cool. The automated guide that Roku provides for OTA is a big step up in finding the content you may desire. Content mastered for Dolby Vision really pops! Colors and lights are incredibly bright and vivid. The demos available on the Dolby Vision app do an excellent job of showing exactly what this TV can do!
Minor quibbles relate to the included remote. Having used other Roku TV-based systems, the packed in unit feels a bit flimsy and is slightly less responsive than those that come with a Roku Ultra (as an example). The guide-based interface for OTA requires some additional planning if this TV is paired with home automation and a Logitech Harmony Hub. My prior 1080p set would support "change TV to channel #". An extra step of defining favorites and commands to call the favorites are involved in this fringe use case.
Overall, the aesthetics and functionality of the TV are incredible and the outstanding image quality of the set has resulted in an increase in use compared to the unit it replaced. Highly recommended!

This is an excellent TV. The value can't be beat. I see no reason to spend double and triple for other brands. CNET and others have written extensively on this TV, don't trust me, go read them. It has a VA Panel, Deep blacks, outstanding contrast, local dimming, good motion handling, low input lag and best of all it has ROKU built in. No dongles, cables, etc to mess with. The simplest OS on a TV to use and the freedom to download any app you want. Go buy this TV with no hesitation!

Nice pictures qual for day and well lit scenes.
Dark scenes or grays are splotchy and pixelated. Baseball and likely other sports scenes with moderate to fast moving objects are clearly washed out/ fuzzy or pixelated.
The Anti reflection of the screen is rather poor if at all existent and reflects lights and bright objects in the background of the viewer.
Wish there was a 2nd USB port. Roku interface is good, not sure icons can be made smaller or shown as list when viewing USB stored media.
There is a headphone jack and it is even possible to view VCR content.
Remote signal is not very strong and needs to be aimed at TV to be received.
Price to value is good. TCL support is very good, no convoluted answering system and life person answering the phone.

This is a mostly positive review. For the price, you really can't beat the feature set and the Roku interface is nice.
Pros:
Picture is crisp and color is vibrant. This TV seems brighter than the Vizio P series
Local dimming works well, you can see it in action on the Plex screensaver
Roku interface is great and streams better than the firestick I used to use
Cons

I read many reviews online praising this particular television for it's value, and I am glad I purchased it. There are definitely better tv's than this as far as picture quality go, but not for the money. OLED is going to cost you well into the thousand dollar range and even it has drawbacks (screen burn in). If you are looking for a relatively cheap introduction to the 4K world, this is definitely worth your money. This television displays all the most recent formats including HDR and Dolby Vision. Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Netflix all have quite a bit of 4K material to start with if you don't want to spend the money on a UHD Blu-ray player and movies right away. Just make sure your internet is capable of handling streaming 4K content. The Roku television interface is easy to use and customizable. The stand is sturdy and easy to install. I have nothing bad to say about this television, I highly recommend it.

I've been researching this TV for over a year. Was originally planning to get the 5-series, but waited a year. Very happy with the 6-series. It offers a beautiful picture and nice snappy features via the Roku interface.
I do see some banding from time to time when there is a full white background, but that is the only time and its not a problem for me personally. The overall display is extremely clear, sharp & smooth, and that is with out-of-the-box settings. Gaming looks great as well.
For the price tag it is an excellent value for sure.
I waited for it to drop to $799.99 and used a $250 BBY gift card I'd been saving since Christmas, so that made this deal extra sweet.

The dynamic range (it supports HDR10 & Dolby VIsion), the color palette, the resolution and size for the price you pay compared to comparably featured TVs makes this a great deal. The Roku interface is easy but it would be nice to have single-button access to particular inputs to make macros on my remote control easier. The only visual drawback is that the brightness is not 100% even across the screen (particularly on an all-white screen like my UHD player defaults to). The corners are fairly dark. This isn't obvious in most movie or TV scenes; mostly in nature documentaries set in polar regions with lots of snow. Maybe that's normal for edge-lit LCD TVs (this replaces my highly rated Panasonic plasma set which of course doesn't do that but which can't do 4K or HDR). Pop in a UHD with Dolby Vision (like "The Matrix") and the picture actually looks better than I've ever seen in any movie theater, including IMAX and Dolby Vision theaters as the blacks are truly, inky black and the whites are bright, snowy white (not bluish). Colors really pop. Details in shadows are there and bright parts of the image aren't blown out. Natures shows like "Planet Earth II" and "Blue Planet II" on UHD with HDR10 look almost three-dimensional. Really mesmerizing. And it seems to upscale HD input pretty well from my satellite, Blu-ray, streaming and media player inputs.
Another USB input would be nice as I like to put LED light strips for bias lighting behind my TVs and using the one USB input would mean I can't use it for slide shows of pictures on memory sticks. Not a big deal.
With more even backlighting and another USB input, I would give this a 5-star review. As is, I'd like to give it 4 1/2 stars.
The Best Buy version differs slightly from what you can get from other sources in that it has an IR remote (which I actually prefer to integrate with my master remote) instead of RF and lacks voice commands.

I’ve had this TV for about month now read reviews and initially heard about TCL from Linus Tech Tips and that spured me to look into them for a 65” 4K true native 120Hz panel for under $1,000 you can’t go wrong in my opinion. Now I don’t watch many movies but I use the tv for normal everyday tv use and I’m very happy with it there is little to no motion blur in fast paced shows, another great feature is the ease of use when it comes to navigating through YouTube on the app which is really nice. Only thing I’m waiting to try out is the abilities to use the tv for a gaming tv on my pc just wish it had display port connections.
Pros:
Price
Thin bezels
120Hz panel
60 FPS @ 4K hdr
Cons:
Speaker quality
Lack of input
Decent amount of reflection from Ambient room lighting
All in all i couldn’t argue with the price to performance when compared to the other name brand TVs at the same size and price

Wow what an amazing TV. The picture quality is amazing and nothing really comes close to it under $2000. HDR is amazing blacks are truly black with 120 dimming zones. Best Buy really doesn’t display this TV very well at the stores and pushes more expensive TVs with inferior picture quality. This TV looks much better than Samsung QLEDs. The only TVs with better picture quality are LG OLEDs. Roku interfce is easy to use and apps run really quick. We are very happy with this TV. If you are looking for a great sound from the TV get a sound bar. TV speakers sound ok but nothing great.

I mainly upgraded from a 48" Sony Bravia HDTV to take full advantage of my PS4 Pro. You will be hard pressed to find a better 4K HDR capable TV for this price. This unit has a excellent combination of low input lag for games (17ms) HDR peak brightness which rivals units above it's price range, and great features like local dimming for deeper blacks. Really do your research when looking for a HDR capable television, there are differences in peak brightness across tv's and brands. the only cons for me is the remote being line of site, and not having the ability to turn HDR off and on at will, the TV automatically detects a HDR signal when available and will come on by itself. I really hope they patch in the ability to turn in it off or on in the settings. I give this TV a 4.5 out of of 5, very happy with my purchase.

Everything the CNET review was true. Yes, the 120 contrast zones make 1080i and 720p tv broadcasts look so much more amazing you'll hardly believe it. Yes, 4k HDR or Dolby Vision sources are mindblowing when you're close enough to benefit from 4k. You'll be amazed if this is your first non-edge-lit big screen how dark the blacks are, especially in a dark room: you'll think the tv turned off or the power went out - seriously! The ONLY downside to this 65r615 is if you are wall mounting to a universal full motion mount. This VESA pattern is 300x300 which is often not supported by most universal 65"+ mounts for whatever reason. Once you find a mount that will work, you must use the spacers that come with the mounting hardware because the 4 mounting holes are not centered in the middle of the back, but offset towards the bottom so far that the bottom two holes are right against a raised plastic section which prevents mount spider arms from being flush. The spacers that came with my old OmniMount Architectural Series worked good enough, If you order the Amazon Basics one, beware, the spacers are too large to fit inside the recessed holes so you'll be pressing on plastic instead of metal - which might or might not be okay, I don't know. If you're just trying to make whatever mount you have work, I suggest checking the local hardware store for spacers or washers that fit inside the mounting hole recess and are the correct inner diameter for your long mounting screws. TCL support was no help with finding a mount that would work perfectly, so don't waste your time. Overall, everything is perfect besides the strange mounting hole and adjacent raised plastic situation. It outperforms "leading brand name" competitors 50-250% more expensive than it. Will buy more TCL 6 series or above when they come out.
