Came from a Sony tv because yhis one was supposed to be such a great tv so bright so vibrant. And it was except where it counts Dolby Vision is broken. Dull and washed out. Also HDR10 is brighter but still not as bright as it should be gor a 2500 nit tv. Returned and bought another Sony. X90L and even though the nits are only 1200 its still brighter in HDR than the TCL. Stay away.

Brightness of TV and color accuracy are awesome. The only problem was that I bought it open box and there was no warranty and was having display issues so I returned in the 15 days. My advice is just buy it new, I end up buying Qm7 same price bigger size.

Not What I Paid For: Lying or Incompetence?

This review is of Best Buy. The TV is fine, I'm no expert. One is supposed to address BB issues through customer service. I spoke to 4 people to not much avail. I bought this specific open box excellent sight unseen while out of town. I'd hesitated on others listed in fair and good condition at closer locations. Excellent: like new, all parts, original packaging. For pickup, found a tv wrapped in plastic with a parts envelope inside the plastic. Not ideal for hauling in the truck 45 minutes but made it work. At home, unwrapped enough to access parts envelope. Only the power cord was included (again, note definition of "excellent"). The sticky tag (on the screen, really) listed 'residue' as the only issue. Phone customer service said to return to store for possible parts. Note here: it's ridiculous that a customer cannot call a local store! Made the 1.5 hour round trip. A floor manager grabbed a remote from a display tv and a new (ugly) Insignia stand. Did not address my concern (with pics) of scratched anti-glare (not residue) and did not offer lower pricing for an obvious 'not excellent' condition (I didn't ask but did not yet know how much coating had been scraped). I don't believe there was a "Sorry for your trouble" either. He mostly seemed to be trying to walk away. I was not being rude. Once I unwrapped completely and was able to switch screens, noticed a lot of coating scraped off. I don't know what people do to cause that. I travel for work and was not able to return to store before 14 days. I made a couple of calls but the overseas support wouldn't address my concerns on an open box item. My primary complaint is that either someone lied or is incompetent. This tv wasn't close to being 'excellent'. I went through more trouble and expense for a falsely presented item. My secondary complaint is a lack of a satisfactory resolution. The system is set up to be convoluted. I don't want to feel like I must throw a fit in the store to get attention. I'm ok with the tv because I'm not a perfectionist but I'm not ok with the false info and unwillingness to account for it.

    Unhonored Warranty fake features

This TV does not have all the features advertised on the TCL and Dolby vision website. It will not do Dolby vision 120hz even though it is advertised that it can. Also the HDR10 looks significantly better than the Dolby vision 60hz which appears washed out. So have been waiting for over 2 months for them to honor the warranty as it is defective or false advertisement. Their answer is it is an unusual problem and need more time to decide what they are going to do. So I called again yesterday and asked what will be the resolution. They said that I will receive a call the next day to update me. No call, email or anything. I can assure you both LG and Hisense can run 120hz Dolby vision flawlessly with rich vibrant detailed color. LG is more expensive but Hisense is in the same price range and the subwoofer that is built in actually sounds like a subwoofer. On top of that both LG and Hisense honor their warranty with an answer within a week. It's ultimately your money so do what you want, but when you get one of their TVs and see problems arise after their firmware update, you will be battling it out with TCL. They simply won't honor the warranty. See the pictures below to determine if this is what you would like to see on a 6 month old TV.

Are you on the fence about this purchase because you're concerned it won't be able to stand up to an LG, Samsung or Sony TV? Don't be! For nearly half the cost of a competing big-brand offering, this television does nearly everything you could want with some very minor sticking points. Having had this TV for about a week, the first thing I can say is that the picture quality is amazing, which I'm sure you'll notice is the primary gushing point of all the other reviews. Anything in 4K, with HDR, looks absolutely fantastic. It covers all of the formats (HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision), which was a check mark for me as I watch a lot of disc-based content. The contrast and colors are vibrant, punchy, and consistently as good as other top-end TVs, and in the case of QLED they're often better. The local dimming is impressively accurate, and the blooming is only noticeable in extreme situations or viewing angles. The TV is most accurate when set to Movie mode, and adjusted as needed. I'd also say that the GoogleTV platform makes a lot of sense to me and is easy to navigate, while also being admirably speedy. I have a current-gen FireTV stick attached to my living room TV and it's both slower to respond, and has a more cumbersome user interface. What actually impressed me the most were the speakers. TVs have come a long way in the speaker department. My previous 4K TV is an 8 year old 55" Sharp, sans HDR, and the sound is serviceable at best. The TCL has excellent clarity for a TV, with reasonable low-end thanks to the subwoofer on the back. At the moment the TV lives in the bedroom, due to a built-in that needs to be modified for it to fit. Because of this, I've had to watch the TV with the stock speakers, whereas the living room, where it will eventually go, has a home theater setup. By no means does the TCL compete in sound quality with my big speakers, but it's not as drastic of a departure as I expected. Everything I've watched has had sufficient volume and body, though it will never beat a good sound bar or HT setup. I also want to address the fact that there are EQ options, which I noticed as misinformation elsewhere. The TCL has a 7-band EQ located within the Audio menu's Advanced Settings. This can be helpful because the stock sound options don't give the best highs, as mentioned by others here. However, it's worth noting that this TV outputs both Dolby and DTS, which is not always the case for those looking to pass through audio to a receiver. There are definitely some minor things that are either annoying, should be avoided, or are simply not as good as the best-of-the-best offerings. First, the motion simply isn't as good as something like a Sony. It's not terrible, and leaps ahead of the TV it's replacing, but there's still judder in 24 fps content when panning. Adding a tiny bit of judder and blur reduction after turning on motion clarity can go a tremendous way in making this bearable without feeling uncomfortable or artificial. The other issue is that the TV doesn't handle lower resolution content as well as a better TV with current gen processing. It's a minor annoyance, but if you're buying this TV to watch 720p content and below you're not really the target audience. This is more of an issue with streaming content than with disc-based content, as a good disc player will have decent upscaling performance that will offset the TV's inability to do the job. Also, while this TV's picture is absolutely fantastic, it still can't compete with the contrast and black balance of an OLED, so at times it'll crush blacks a bit, but you don't run the risk of burn-in like you would with OLED. These small sticking points are why I ticked a star off of image quality, because despite having an incredible 1080/4K picture, it's simply not the absolute best you can get. It's also fair to say the settings, while decently robust, can be hard to find in certain situations. Things like color balance exist, but are in strange, out of the way locations that make it hard to remember where they live (I'd even read reviews elsewhere claiming they didn't exist). This also goes for some of the game mode options, which have to be enabled via a bottom-screen bar set of options with a button on the remote, rather than living in the standard TV settings (specifically the GameMaster On/Off selection). I also, personally, don't enjoy the initial settings that Dolby IQ tries to implement, and strongly suggest changing some of them. Also of note is that I've had, at times, apps like Netflix hang to the point that the TV required a full restart, which means you have to do this through settings as the remote simply puts the TV in standby. It's a minor issue to me as Hulu breaks constantly on my FireTV and the restart process is at least 3 times as long. Unfortunately, while I do game a fair bit, most of my gaming is on a PC in an office separate from my living room, and the most recent console I have is a PS4, so I haven't attempted to evaluate how this TV performs for gaming. There are other reviews that I believe say enough about its performance that I suspect it's as capable as most people would need, given the experience overall is so exceptional. When I was researching this TV I didn't find much information on settings that would be considered optimal. My personal recommendations would be as follows: Turn off all Intelligent settings (adaptive Brightness, Content, Color Temperature). These can wash out the colors and the TV is set to use them out of the box. Set Picture to Movie Mode, and adjust Brightness as needed, leave color saturation at 50. In Brightness Settings I left sliders at default, then I set Dynamic Contrast, Black Stretch, and Dynamic Brightness to off, Local Contrast to High (this should always be high) and Micro Contrast to Low. I left the Color settings at Default on the sliders. Under Clarity I set sharpness to 15, then all other settings to Low. Under Motion, I enabled Motion Clarity (which you need to enable to adjust other settings), then set Clear LED Motion to on, Blur Reduction to 1, Judder Reduction to 2, and Dynamic Acceleration to off. Under Color space the only adjustment I made was to kick 5 notches off of the red slider, as the TV is a bit strong in displaying them (and I'm more sensitive to red as a color, personally). HERE'S THE TL;DR: Do you want a great TV for 1080p/4K content that supports all of the HDR and audio codecs available, has a fast and responsive Smart TV system, excellent color, brightness and contrast, and a fair amount of customization all while costing about $1,000 less than the next step up in brand? This sounds like the TV you should buy. I'd give it a solid 4.5 out of 5, but I feel like it'd be a tremendous disservice to award it a 4 out of 5 based on the small things it doesn't do as well as a $3,000+ TV. At the $1700 I got this at, for a 75" model no less, it's an absolute bargain of a TV with top-end quality. If you're looking for a great TV, and even if you have the budget for best-in-class, I'd still recommend auditioning this unit and asking yourself if the money you saved isn't worth the small things it can't compete with (and they are indeed very small, realistically).

DO NOT BUY!!!! I have had this TV for 4 months and a significant black spot is not right inside the primary viewing real estate of the screen. I talked to TCL Warranty support and they are telling me they won't cover it because they think it is big that got INSIDE and behind the screen!!! No technician has looked at it at all! No support at all. No way to remedy it suggested. Looks like a internal tear of the screen to me but even if it is a bug, isn't that a DESIGN problem!??? Unless you live in a bug free area, do NOT BUY this!!!
