great movie, excellent actors and very exciting and scary

This is a good movie happy to have this horror movie

I can't recommend The Amityville Horror, because, despite the Blu-ray's technical merits, I don't think the film is worth anyone's time (except maybe as a historical artifact). However, if it ranks highly on your nostalgia scale, then I think this Blu-ray is about as good as it's going to get. I recognize that at least one user review has suggested that a future version could improve on the image, but I doubt it, unless -- and this could happen -- a new technology is created to synthesize a brand new, clean, "ideal-def" version of a movie from a film scan. If that ever happened, it would be the hi-def version of colorization, and I doubt it would be a favor to fans of Amityville. Some things are only charming because they're old. The more clearly you see this movie, the harder it'll be to overlook its considerable shortcomings

The Amityville Horror is one of the most well-known pieces of the so-called "haunted house" genre and excels at everything one would expect from such a film. I find that the blu-ray transfer of this film is particularly enjoyable in that the autumnal colors are rich and the overall tone "soft", giving the film a natural looking appearance. As such, I do recommend this title most highly to horror fans and to those looking to replace their old DVD or even VHS copy of The Amityville Horror.

A scary film back in 1979 and although its not as gory and over-the-type horror films have become now. This film gives the same OMEN-style build up that makes the film hold it's nostalgic hold. There is a few somewhat tame sequences but a good haunted house film this is one to keep around for those rainy nights.

This film still stands the test of time. The acting my Brolin, Kidder, and Stieger is very good. I do want to say the movie does stay pretty true to the book yet seems to take a little more creative license in some of the shots. If you have been to the real house in Amityville, obviously the house in the move comes close to what it looks like but is not the actual house and the house they used as well as on the set is much bigger. The acting is good, a smooth flow of story with some scary moments which the musical definitely heightens. I bought it, so it is a good watch to cuddle up one night on the couch in the dark!

The cast the crew, everything about performances to a real family tragedy is very impressive. In life I hope the family that made it out of this real home, is alright. This house is just a great place that can never be removed from this earth. & this film is fantastic from start to finish.

This is the Original Amityville Horror starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder. Pretty scary supposedly true story snd for the price definitely worth the pick-up.

Had the dvd forever and finally upgraded for Halloween! Blu-ray is much better! Now to wait til 4k is around!

Despite some of the special effects not holding up that well, it is still a solid classic haunting movie.

The Brolin/Kidder version (the original) is definitely the best of any sequel or remake. It seems to hold its own over the years, and is written well and performed well. I do recommend it. I'm glad I didn't personally live this in reality.

While not nearly as gory or in your face frightening as some modern horror films, this classic has a sense of dread that permeates it continuously. Just try to get that creepiest of theme songs out of your head after hearing it.

There is no going wrong with this classic horror film. It looks great in bluray and at the time the price was great. Also it came with an alternative art cover, not a bad deal at all

awesome pleasing helpful, needed it for work fast and bought it now works pretty good. essential for my job needed it soon and found it cheap and reliable. convenient film for history buffs.

A classic movie to start the Halloween season with. based on true events. Got investigated by the famous Warrens. Margot Kidder in an early role before she became Lois Lane

I loved it. Nothing could ever touch this classic horror movie, no remake no nothing. Especially when you have James Brolin and Lois Laine I mean Margot Kidder.

As always, the quality of the blu-ray product is great. The movie itself is a classic horror movie that should be viewed by everyone that likes horror movies.

The Amityville story line is intriguing to me, and this blu-ray edition was fantastic. The quality was sharper and clearer than the other editions I own.
