Movie gets 5 stars but this review is 4 stars because the steelbook has a dent in the back and it's probably too late to have it exchanged.

I enjoyed the movie and I love the look of the steel case that Best Buy seems to have exclusively at their stores. The steel case is for the real movie lovers.

A simple, yet very plot derived representation of the movie's title.

If you're a fan of the books like me, you'll appreciate this movie as long as you understand it probably wasn't designed to be a 7-part series. You'll appreciate the references to the books. They did an ok job of making the books in to a movie, but I wonder what the movie would be like to someone who hasn't read the books; I feel like it wouldn't make a lot of sense. I was hoping they were going to go all the way and bring this elaborate world and story to fruition, but they still made a decent movie. Roland played really well, but I didn't care for the portrayel of the man in black. Something was off. Worth seeing, just lower the bar a bit.

The movie itself was interesting and had some cool actions but definitely felt like a rushed story that should have been paced through multiple films. If I rated purely based on the movie I would have given a 2.5, however I am rating based on the disc itself and this is without a doubt in the top 3 of my best 4k discs. At times it is so sharp it is almost unreal, but it really does look that good. Sound design is also excellent and if nothing else it is a good disc to buy to really see how movies should look on your fancy new 4k tv.

If you love Stephen King stories you need to get this movie. The Dark Tower is the multi-dimensional connection between this story and others by Stephen King like IT. This is a great movie and the Steel Book collection from Best Buy is one of my favorites. They are great to display in a collection. If you see a steel book at Best Buy you need to get it. They've really done a great job on this movie. It has excellent cinematic affects and you can't stop watching until it is done. The action is excellent and the scenes are beautiful. Getting the 4k with Blu Ray and Digital copy is definitely the way to go and now with Movies Anywhere it makes it easy to watch wherever you go. Best Buy also has the better price now that Amazon is in VA, they charge tax on everything as well. A great thing about purchasing at Best Buy is getting rewards points which you don't get elsewhere. It quickly adds up.

DISCLAIMER: I have NOT read the book. Most of the people that I know that HATED this movie were massive fans of the King novels. Of course, there is too much content to fit into a movie, or even a few movies. I enjoyed the presentation in this film, not having any expectations. I enjoyed the actor's portrayals of their characters and the look and feel of the movie were distinctive. Most people don't agree with me. the 4kHDR treatment was very, very good!

I like this movie. I also got it in AURO 3D, the best sound field ever invented, makes ATMOS seem like a beginner tried to create something like dolby stereo. AURO 3D is so realistic in sound, you never want to listen to ATMOS again. This movie is great, has amazing FUNNY lines, fast action, really sets a nice pace. The sound is great, can't say enough good things about the sound, it has what you expect for the money you spend on a disk of this magnitude, the money they spent was well placed. You get high quality content. The CGI is so realistic you forget its CGI and just fall into the story and lose yourself in the emotion and staging of the drama and action.

I had moved and was having issues getting cable and internet hooked up, for like two months, so on Black Friday last year I went to Best Buy and bought a bunch of movies to keep myself entertained (I’d switched to digital over the years, and not having internet meant I couldn’t watch any of them). I picked out some of my favorite movies and made it through the dark times lol.

I enjoyed the movie but I have not read the book. I have been told by those who have read the book that it is everything from downright awful to an abomination since I understand the ending differs from the book considerably. So I guess your opinion will depend on whether you've read the book and how closely you expect the movie to follow the ending in the book.

This is a good movie and if you purchase it I liked the fact that best buy had it for better price than that river company. The only issue I had with this movie is i loved the book and it seemed to ignore aspects from the book but in whole it is a good movie. I liked the acting.

For the price that is charge on these, I sort of would expect the full disk collection DVD/Br/3D/4K, But the Steel Books seem to be holding up better than the plastic cases, which seem to get brittle and break after a couple of years. Would help if they would have replacement inserts that would make it possible to store the four formats (maybe soon five with 8K) in the one case, instead of having to have several cases of the same movie on the shelf.

This movie had an interesting story to it. It wasn't the greatest movie, but it was pretty good. Lots of good action. The 4K picture quality was great as well. Also good to have the digital copy option to store in online library for future viewing.

This film is the culmination of many scrapped scripts, poorly drafted adaptations, and ultimately, one more terrible book-to-film adaption... As a film, it fails to capture the depth and breadth of the characters, the unique motivations, the amazing qualities of the world in which the story takes place. In short, it's a normal Hollywood rendition of multiple thousands of pages of writing, squashed down into a couple of hours, and it sucks. Pardon the rant, but find me somehow who has read these and disagrees to any significant degree. It's not the worst film, but it lacks a lot, which is why the new version is a reboot TV series, that will basically scrap this, regardless of how well Elba performed. As a librarian, I value the originality as well as how true it is to source material. They get points for somehow keeping this PG-13 (which it really shouldn't have been, but a more broad audience is a nice thought), AND for making a cool visual impact. As before, the validity when compared to source material is absolute rubbish, but this one gets more of the Star Wars VIII - The Last Jedi treatment, where either you can or you cannot look past the plot holes, and see it for its own merits, however few they may seem. As a product, this steelbook packaging is beautiful, with the "Pop Art" style, which is welcome, but not as fitting as the original book covers. The fit and finish are great, with no real issues either outside or inside the case. The 4K/UHD presentation with HDR is astounding, and the Dolby Atmos soundtrack was equally invigorating. And FYI, the HDR is done in Dolby Vision, in case your player, receiver, and/or TV need to be checked for compatibility. Altogether, I have chosen to grant this a full five stars; Beautiful packaging, stellar production value for the blu-ray and 4K disc. The film may be on the flimsy side, but not many action film-makers have the guts to cram this much content into a story, and even fewer come up faring any better.

Great version of the Stephen King classic! Would of have been nice to have stayed closer to the novel story wise. Guess not possible as this was a series of 8 novels and would be a challenge to compress into one movie

The movie wasn't as good as I was expecting. But it wasn't horrible or unwatchable, well at least not with a few drinks. The Steel Series case and packaging was fantastic though. Worth getting if on sale.

I think it turned out pretty wild, it was neat to see the whole thing in movie form, and i was surprised that it kept its continuity fairly well even after being stripped of 90% of the back story.
