The Flash season 1 features great writing, solid actors, and AMAZING special effects! I enjoyed every single episode, and the cliff-hanger endings. A very entertaining and satisfying series for both fans of the comics, and for non-readers / new fans alike! The whole family can watch. Give it a try!

I’m been a fan of superheroes since I was a child. One of my favorite characters is definitely The Flash. The first season is phenomenal and my Wife was completely hooked, although she does not enjoy superhero movies and tv shows as I do.

Apparently the CW, in conjunction with Warner Bros. television studios, totally gets DC comics because after completely owning the character Green Arrow, they've gone and created a series about another iconic hero from that universe (i.e. The Flash), that's both true to the source-material and possessing all the sophistication of the big-screen.
So, let's see: superhero origin story... check, crossover scene with "Arrow"... check, foreshadowing for future Central City villains... check, great casting all-around... check, lots of eye-candy FX and exciting action... CHECK!!! Those of us who were able to watch episode 8 from Arrow Season 2 already knew who was gonna play Barry Allen, but actor Grant Gustin seems to have already become the part with just a cameo and a single pilot; and then there's Jesse L. Martin playing Detective Joe West, the guy that basically raised Barry and is also his mentor and biggest supporter at C.C.P.D. (where the latter works in forensic investigation), who, along with Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells, adds a level of drama (and let's face it... maturity) the show may have otherwise lacked. Fans of the DC universe will also recognize a name that has recently become almost legendary in the comic world, i.e. Geoff Johns, who is not only a writer for this series but also a producer for the show thus ensuring it will be a definite source for unmitigated, super-heroic, television magic.
This pilot episode reminded me of Marvel's, live-action Spiderman films as far as feel, being decidedly optimistic with an obvious undercurrent of fun (in spite of often tragic events that surround the central character) and based on what I've seen so far I'm also very pleased to say that this looks like a series the entire family could watch together (with no f-forwarding or embarrassing moments) and I just got to say I love a show that makes me laugh and leaves me feeling a little happier afterward. Way to go CW! Mid-season finale... holy cats!!! Introduction of a major villain from the Flash/DC universe and another major superhero, the excellent, excellent cast: Barry Allen, Det. West, Dr. Wells, Iris West. Performances that have invested these characters with life and their story (much like the central hero) continues to gain such momentum... I was laying on my couch at the beginning of this episode but on the edge of my seat by the end (also teary-eyed more than once). Nothing against SHIELD, Arrow or Constantine but The Flash in just 9 episodes has, in my opinion, established itself as possibly THE best action/adventure series on television.
A very moving and exciting finale has finished up an amazing first season that has rapidly (pun intended) made "The Flash" a fan favorite and I know so many of us are extremely stoked to see what amazing comic-book goodness this series will bring next season.

Every once in a while, a new show comes along and blows you away with its first season. That's exactly what happened with season 1 of The Flash, which proved to be much more than a typical superhero origin story. While the fantastical elements are certainly present, the story really hangs its hat on the emotional journeys and relationships of its various characters. And, seeing that the show airs on the CW, it was refreshing to see that the predominant relationships being explored focused on father-son dynamics (in various forms) rather than romantic trysts.
Grant Gustin and Jesse Martin deserve particular praise in this regard, as their shoulders often bear the brunt of the first season's emotional gravitas and they rise to the occasion every time. Their atypical dynamic - that of an adoptive father and son (whose biological father is still in the picture) - gives viewers a rare glimpse of paternal responsibility wielded well and made all that much stronger but he fact that this relationship was chosen and not forced.
Kudos to the show runners, writers and performers for giving us such a positive take on a situation that easily could have been mishandled for the sake of contrived dramatic effect. What we get is a much richer and more inspiring experience.

For the fans of DC Comics this is a great adaptation of the source material. For the non fan this is a great story of the making of a hero and how the character of a person might be deceiving based upon what is on the outside. The Special Effects are awesome and the stories are easily followed. With the success of Arrow I was concerned at how the DVD would be and yet the Flash delivers. What is great though is Best Buy pricing. If you rent the series you might pay more than buying them on Blu Ray. I came in and bought this product and loved it. The problem that I had was with Best Buys online system. It would be great if they added a feature to their side that said "added on sale this week" or reduced last 14 or 7 days to make easier searches. Best Buy had another DC Comics on sale and it was only by luck that I found this title also on sale. If they added that function I would have also bought the Arrow an other titles missing in my collection but I could not search the system for more titles. As a buyer I buy titles in genres and finding out that Powers Season 1 would have been a great addition would have made me buy more. THe headings are great buy having a sale function that lets the consumer find out what was recently added instead of searching through and seeing sometimes the same titles can be daunting. After all I am not the Flash LOL

If you're buying this, you've probably already seen the show, but suffice to say, Season 1 of The Flash is off to great start as a series. This review is more about the extra and audio/visual transfer. Overall, there are a decent amount of extras:
1) The Comic Con panel is nothing much to write home about, but mildly interesting.
2) The audio commentary is worth checking out if you want some insights into how the show got started, casting and directing tidbits on the actors.
3) Creating the Blur shows the tricks of the trade on the VFX and animation that go into making the Flash.
4) The Trickster and Fastest Man Alive are your standard featurettes, though the Trickester one has a nice tie in to the Flash show from the 90s.
5) The Chemistry test between Emily and Grant was cute, if not a little short.
6) Deleted Scenes and Gag reel are entertaining enough but pretty standard as well. It was nice to see Carlos playing guitar though, even if it didn't make it into the final cut.

The Flash's Complete First Season is well worth the time and money!!! It presents with lots of new-age action for those of you who are familiar with the original TV series with actor John Wesley Shipp. The special features are pretty good, but not over the top with the greatest action or storyline backgrounds. There are five disks and each have several deleted scene sequences and the last one has much more, including a segment with a Comic-Con convention/questions and answers about several of the DC Comics TV series and super heroes.
The Flash series is believable, fast and fun, and yet can be a bit boring following the same storyline all season. They do present very interesting villains, who have fascinating bad-guy skills and make for interesting viewing!! Grant Gustin, as an actor and the Flash is very believable, and I think he will represent the Flash for a very long time.
Besides that make sure to watch Arrow at the same time because there is a lot of crossover between the two shows.

After having fallen in love with Supergirl last season, when we found the first season of The Flash on sale, we figured we'd give it a chance. We're so glad we did! We binge watched the entire season in about 2 weeks' time, which we never do. And as soon as we finished the last episode we went out the next day to buy season two! Our 4 and 6 year olds are just as obsessed as we are too! The show strikes the perfect combination of action, heart, and especially humor. Though written in the Arrow universe, this has a much lighter tone. And the acting is superb! Grant Gustin as The Flash and Carlos Valdes as Cisco are amazing young actors who I will be watching for in years to come. And who can argue with the phenominal Jesse L. Martin as Joe West? As well as Tom Cavanaugh as the very enigmatic Dr. Harrison Wells. All in all, seriously one of the absolute best shows on television!

This 4 disc set contains all 23 Season 1 episodes. There is also an Ultraviolet code that expires on 9/22/18, which does NOT include an iTunes file. As expected, picture quality is excellent. In addition to commentary for the pilot, deleted scenes and a gag reel, there 5 other features rounding out this set. It comes in a slip case with a booklet containing a brief synopsis of each episode and any related extras. When I saw it was on sale, I ran to Best Buy like the Flash and got the last copy. It was the lowest price I had ever seen anywhere.

I'm glad I revisited this series after I dismissed the pilot. I bought this set for 3 main reasons: 1) Extremely cheap $14.99 price tag, 2) Movie Money for Batman v. Superman & 3) Sweet looking slipcover. This set is sufficiently packed with extras and deleted scenes. All of it is very entertaining as well...especially the Comic-con panel & the documentary of bringing the comic to the small screen. The video & audio quality is top-notch. As for the show, it's satisfying campy, tender and well-written with almost all actors bringing alot to the story. I rewatched the series right after finishing it. I can't wait until Season 2 comes out.

I grew up on the "silver age" Flash comics. The TV series starring John Wesley Shipp was great since it put in motion (pun intended) what had only been comic book panels. I was somewhat apprehensive of the newest series, before seeing the first season. I thought they did a very good job of keeping the main theme of the old comics. My only complaint is the submission by the creators to include a politically correct "social" theme in a few of the episodes. It truly added nothing to the story line. Otherwise, a great treatment of a super-hero that many of us grew up with.

I was a fan of the 90's series so I was interested in the new incarnation. We get introduced to Barry Allen and Central City from the Arrow series, in the same way we used to see an old tv spin off, only this was clearly planned from the beginning. The Flash is your super hero crime fighter story that you expect, but what i find charming is its lighter approach. Many shows, Arrow included, are dark and offer little levity. This one side steps the angry and brooding hero in favor of a very motivated but not always confident young man. This show is a keeper for super hero fans.

The Flash was a huge surprise for me. I wasn't expecting anything good when I heard about it. The only reason why I watched the first episode was I liked the show Arrow and they're connected and I thought I'd give it a shot. I just didn't think a show about a fast guy would be a good show. How wrong I was. Now in its third season, I have to say in the Arrowverse (Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow) this is my favorite show. It blends the right amount of camp and seriousness to make it a really enjoyable show to watch. I highly recommend it very much.

I watced this on Netflix and enjoyed it enough that when the price came down on the BLu ray I was comfortable buying it for when I travel.
Flash is a fun simple superhero show that harkens back to the days of Lois and Clark for me. The writing is simple with overarcing episodes leading to a solid conclusion. Something missing in most of todays tv where it's 1 and done. Flash Season 1 has a solid origin, fleshing out the characters while not muddling it down and introducing solid villians and incorporating other heroes.
A fun escape for this comic book fan of 30 years.

I was so glad to get this blu-ray series. I missed the earlier episodes when they originally aired, The nice thing is starting near the end of a great story and going back to the beginning sometimes makes it even better. So I expect watching it on a real blu-ray player and 32" hdtv (VS 17.3" laptop and 26" CRT TV) from the beginning ought to be really awesome. A few guest stars and plenty of supervillians, even if their origins were tweaked a bit. Iris West is WOW! And her story is also a good one. Anyways, no spoilers here so all is good :) GET THIS!

I had never seen even a single episode of this when I bought it and Arrow seasons 1-3 on Blu-ray during the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Movie Money promotion, and just like Arrow seasons 1-3 this came with a $8 movie certificate, and I used them to see BvS multiple times! I was so happy to be able to watch this show for the first time on Blu-ray, and I was not disappointed at all! The show is amazing, and the picture quality definitely did it justice. I definitely do not regret purchasing this, and I would recommend it to anyone!
