Love the game, not the controls

I still remember when this first debuted at E3. It looked like such a fantastic game, and everyone was pretty excited for it. Fast forward a couple years, and it looked as though this game would never be getting out of development. Well, it's finally here! Unfortunately, all that time seems to have aged this game tremendously. It's still good-looking, but I don't think it'll ever look as good as it did back in 2009. Nevertheless, it's worth playing just to see how Trico (the giant bird-cat-thing) reacts to you and the world, although it hurts me every time Trico gets hurt. Also, controls are definitely wonky. It's a bit frustrating, but you get past it. Would not recommend playing this game in one long sitting - it's best to break it up to avoid getting into that rut where you become annoyed by the controls.

Apparently it's much more optimized for the PS4 Pro, but on the regular PS4 it is always dropping frames. I was able to complete the game and it's great, but after all these years in development over two different consoles, it's pretty clear that they had major problems stabilizing the game. No coincidence that it came out around the same time as the Pro.

From the creative mine that brought you ICO and Shadow of the Colossus come a story of a boy and his new found friend. This is a puzzle platformer game. That’s has you controlling watch some would say a frustrating AI. I would recommend approaching this games AI as if it was a foreign animal to you, and would make the journey less frustrating.

Nearly a decade after it was first shown off we finally have the Last Guardian from Sony and the people behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. They still after all these years have their own flavor of games with a unique feel to them that no other developer has ever managed to capture with their games simply giving a magically fairly tale sense of beauty and art that allows their games to still be very emotional and touching despite not having very much in the way of dialog but rather conveying their emotional heft in an incredible and moving relationship between the player and an NPC companion in Ico it was Yorda, in SOTC it was your horse and now it is basically Falcore come to video game life from the Never Ending Story. Despite some very frustrating controls at times and a frustrating camera the game over comes all issues to deliver an incredible story and a relationship with Falcore that will stick with you long after the frustration of the controls or camera.

The story, and characters are lovely. Gameplay can get annoying at first, because of how annoying it feels to get Trico to do what you want it to do. Once your bond deepens with it, it'll follow orders more easily. Game is heavy on exploration, and trial & error. when you reach the end you'll feel emotionally invested to Tricho.

I bought this game expecting so much out of it since it had been in development for so long. I was disappointed with it as a whole. It was fun in some parts, but for the most part, I was annoyed with the controls and camera angles. The game has nice graphics but feels clumsy in a lot of ways. The story-line is mediocre. For all the hype, it wasn't worth $60 to me - I'd wait for the $20 bin. I beat it in around 10 hours or so and traded it in shortly after because there was no reason for me to replay or keep it. And yes, I played ICO and Shadow of the Colossus prior to this. Recommended, but once price comes down.

Small adventure in a pretty world

the world is beautiful, but feels very small. Too much asset re-use made it feel like you kept returning to the same 4 of so areas again and again. It does not have the same sense of wonder that Ico and SotC had. Also the controls for trico are bad to the point of controller breaking frustration. People try to excuse it by saying that they are supposed to be bad because animals are uncontrollable, but I think that is bs. On my first playthru I got lucky and only had a few problems withTrico. But I started a 2nd playthru and hit a point right at the beginning where he absolutely refused to help me get to a collectible. It was so frustrating that I quit my 2nd playthru. If you are lucky you won't have a lot of problems and will be able to enjoy the game, but if you aren't lucky this game can be super aggravating and not worth your time.

A very heartwarming tale of a boy and a beast escaping ruins together. Getting the beast to follow instructions is half the battle yet somehow endearing as it behaves as my very own housecat only doing what it wants yet somehow being nudged to do what I need it to. The story is very fulfilling.

While not a direct sequel to PS2's Shadow of the Colossus, which was one of my favorites back in the day, it's clearly inspired by it. Very similar puzzle solving strategies, unique artistry and wonderful story. Surpassed my expectations and hopes.

this game doesn't quite live up to all expectations after a 10-year development, but it's great to revisit the artistry that Team Ico is known far simple, yet elegant style of their games is timeless, and a nice change of pace from other AAA titles must play, especially at the lowered price

Ico and Shadow of Colosuss were ground breaking games when they were released on the PS2. This game would’ve been as well...if it was released on the PS3 (as was originally planned). But somewhere it got caught up in development h@ll, and years went by until it was finally released.

Enjoyment of The Last Guardian hinges on your ability to overlook its flaws and embrace its strengths. Puzzles and exploration are finicky and combat is unorthodox, but the world is beautiful and the titular monster is impressive. Give it a chance—odds are, you’ll be happy you did.

The Last Guardian is a game I've been waiting for since 2007, when I had just bought my PS3. It has finally arrived, and it is definitely a great experience. Though some things can be said about it as a whole, including its shortcomings. The game is as good as I was hoping it would be. That needs to be clear. But it does show signs of older game design, from around the time this game must've been conceived. Camera issues, frame rate issues, and occasional AI technical difficulties tarnish the overall excellent experience. I won't say much else about the gameplay or story, because it is something that needs to be experienced in person. But I believe those who've been waiting for this game will be happy. Hopefully those curious about it will take the chance. I recommend it to everyone.

I beat this game in about 11 hours, but was defiantly worth the price. The feelings you develop for Trico almost make you weepy lol. My only criticism is some of the camera angles while moving are painful to say the least. If you can bare through that it's a great game.
