it came with a beautiful art book and the download disc had the soundtrack and several avatars to choose from. The game itself was extraordinary but i'm very happy to have shelled out for this special edition.

If you're judging a game based off of the fact, the release date got changed 3 or 4x please don't..... it has nothing to do with the game..... the game is simply beautiful! I haven't played it entirely yet but I'm happy with what I see, I will pre order from Best Buy again. Every time the release date changed, they notified me.... they also notified me about my pre order arriving earlier then expected. Which I thought was awesome.... so if you want to review a game... give a fair review or don't review at all! This is not Covid issue... or a LGBTQ issue, it's a Game! You either enjoy it for what it is, or you don't!

I am 10 hours into my first playthrough on Survivor difficulty and all I can say is... WOW! what a game! If you enjoy crafting items, managing your resources and playing stealthily I highly recommend this title. If you played the first one you already know more or less what to expect. A beautifully crafted game with impeccable attention to detail.

This is by far the best game of 2020. Leading to the present. I am highly satisfied the game is emotional, addictive, and action packed. It won game of the year for a reason and it was much deserved. Good story pace I've waited years for this sequel. One of my favorite games in my gaming collection.

Spent a good chunk of money on this game and it came shipped in a thin bubble envelope. The product came in damaged where the outside packaging case was crushed/ripped. Upon contacting Customer Service I was given the option to return it within 15 days and wait until more came were in stock for an exchange. Problem is because they ran out of copies they could not tell me when they will have more copies. This basically would mean I would not be able to play a game that I preordered with expectations for arriving on release day and wait till they received more copies to actually play. The other option was to get a 3% refund and keep the copy. I am surprised in the condition this arrived and even more surprised that my options were very limited. Either suck it in and keep the game so I can play a game I have been waiting for several years or return it and play it whenever it gets here. There’s a reason I ordered from Best Buy because of the guaranteed delivery on street release date. This was such a disappointing experience. Luckily the content inside was not damaged but you’d expect better for something you paid $80 for. On the other hand my friend also ordered the same game from Best Buy. Not only did it not get to him by release date but it was delayed for 3 days. When he finally received his copy his was damaged in far worse condition than mine. His Steelbook case was actually dented in badly to the point the disk could of cracked. This is the last time I am ordering from Best Buy.

First off the game is 5/5, played it for 20 hours as of last night and I can't wait to play it some more. But I played it this weekend not because of Beat Buy but because I bought it myself from the PSN store. Best Buy shipped my order late and I just got it today. Damaged... because it was placed in a flimsy envelope. Of course this is now sold out and essentially I paid 80$ for Best Buy to not care.

This is hardest game I've ever had to play through. Tense, emotionally exhausting, and incredibly dark in tone. But any game this effective in making you feel things is really a special achievement. Gameplay wise, it is best described as stealth based third person shooter. Probably some of the tightest controls and animations in any game I've ever played. Play with headphones, as the sound design is probably the best I've ever experienced. That all said, I can't recommend this game to everyone. It visits some very tough topics and has some of the most gruesome realistic violence I have ever experienced. Almost assuredly, there will be parts of the story that will make you feel disgusted and even angry. But I love stories that make you feel things and this does this masterfully.

Easily the best game of 2020! The first game was an instant classic, and this one shows that the second time around is just as good, if not better, than the first. I waited on this review until I beat the game, but while parts are shocking, especially near the beginning, the story is just phenomenal with deep characters and important questions being asked about right and wrong, guilt and innocent, and not everything is clear cut and black and white. Incredible controls, insane voice acting, an extremely detailed world, and just that touch of something more adds to this story that is beyond a worthy follow up to the original. The Special Edition is the way to go, as well! Great art book and special codes for icons and such, but the steelbook alone is worth the price! Love it!

This game takes inspiration from metal gear solid 3 & 4s gameplay, some of the best stealth games ever made. The stealth mechanics and level design are brilliant, taking what MGS did and adding to it. Sneaking through the grass in Seattle instantly brought me back to the woods of MGS3 (imagine if MGS3 got a remake with LOU2 style graphics!), and the freedom of movement (you can go prone and shoot in all directions, even laying on your back) brought me back to MGS4. The horror aspect also makes the stealth more intense. Unlike MGS however the gun combat is a bit unwieldy on purpose, so when youre fighting for your life it really feels like youre fighting for your life. The intensity of the gameplay cannot be overstated, it is incredible. It is incredibly violent however, the most realistic violence ive seen from a game. This isnt Mortal Kombat style, where the violence is so cheesy that its just funny. The violence in LOU2 is brutally real. And its not to be edgy but to amplify the games intensity and murky morality. I havent mentioned the story yet because thats all anyone talks about. I truly feel like the gameplay is so good that you could skip the cutscenes entirely and justify the $60. Youre getting 25 hours of premium stealth survival horror gameplay afterall. This isnt a walking simulator or strictly a story game like Detroit Become Human. But I will say that the story does take an incredibly risky approach that upset a lot of people but if you sit down and play the game from start to finish, the narrative is justified. You may not like the direction but at the very least you will respect what they were going for. This isn't some Game of Thrones final season incompetence at play here, the story is told extremely well. Ironically its more like the early seasons of Game of Thrones, the seasons everyone loves, where the narrative goes in an honest direction, regardless of how many people get their feelings hurt. I respect that a game from a AAA developer is willing to be divisive to its fans to tell a story it believes in, instead of going in a cookie cutter direction and being ultimately forgettable.

Quick review on the different parts of the Special Edition; ~~~First, the special edition bonuses. -The steelbook looks nice. Has a watercolor Ellie on one side and then a watercolor 'mysterious woman' on the other side. On the inside, it contains a code for the digital goods and 2 discs. One to download the game and another to run the game. -The dynamic theme is one of my favorites. Has "It Can't Last" playing. The background has Joel, Ellie, and 'Mysterious Woman' watercolors being painted. It's very pleasing and not obnoxious like some themes can be. -The applications you get are an art book and music. I haven't looked at the art book application because I use the physical one, so I can't say much on that. But the music application is quite nice. It switches between various live wallpapers of locations in the game while music plays. You can choose your favorites, what songs play, etc. This is a nice surprise as the other music bonus I got with a game (Tetris Effect) was just an application telling you to insert your USB. You can even choose what songs you want to download here. -The mini art book is what you expect. 49 pages of beautiful concept art. Good quality. ~~~Now, for the game. -The game itself is very impressive all the way through. Both cinematically and gameplay. The first Last of Us had 'acceptable' gameplay, at best (for me at least), but this game takes that and turns it into something that makes you want to play more. The world itself was engrossing and the best I have played. The combat is very non-linear and I found the outcome different every time. The combat evolves as you learn the systems and different strategies. -The story is something you need to play through yourself to find an opinion you can trust. Your own. This game tests your empathy and plays with your feelings. Truly something I have not experienced before. But even if you come out not liking the story, everything else about this package you will be satisfied with if you liked the first Last of Us.

I completed the game yesterday and have taken some time to think about the story that just unfolded. I'm going to do my best not to bring up anything that would be considered a spoiler. I have never played a game that has made me feel such strong and varied emotions. Naughty Dog did a very good job of making you feel connected to the characters and the decisions that they make throughout the game. Visually the game is amazing at times it made me question if video games can get more realistic looking than this. The landscapes at times looked photo-realistic, the character models were great you could clearly see what emotions the characters were going through based on facial expressions. At times the violence can be pretty graphic due to the realistic nature of the game and the dark themes presented. Overall this game will take you on a journey that has many different twists and turns and does something that no other game I have played has tried to do. I highly recommend this game as I believe it is one of if not the best games available on the PS4. I can understand why there are some people that dislike this game as the story has been presented in a pretty unique way but I feel that this really helps to develop an understanding of the characters and the weight of the decisions that they make throughout the game.

This will be no-spoilers, minimalist review. The game was nothing like I expected, but the amount of effort put into the story, gameplay, and features of this game is beyond anything I’ve ever played. Naughty Dog clearly was performing a labor of love here. It’s emotionally, mentally, and morally challenging but tells a story well worth telling. It’s very much a work of art. The special edition comes with a neat little art book, a code that comes with a soundtrack, some avatars, a digital version of the art book, and a special theme, plus a beautiful steel book case. It was well worth the extra money in my opinion. The game is worth every penny and was worth waiting 7 years for.

This game is wonderful and improves on almost every aspect of the first game. The graphics are maybe the best I've seen on my PS4 Pro and animations are gruesomely well done. I replayed the first game just before this one to refresh myself and I was able to jump right in and feel comfortable, which I think is perfect. But that's not to say the game play systems are identical, just familiar. The weapons and skill systems have been expanded on, and the stealth game play feels much better with some additional ways to hide and a better AI. My preferred way to play this game is on the harder difficulties so that stealth game play becomes a bigger focus, and the changes to these systems did not disappoint. The story is fantastic too. I have heard about some people getting upset about it, but one thing to remember about this series is that it has always taken chance and never been about a predictable happy ending. If you're looking for a feel-good life me up series, this isn't it. The first game had no regard for building main characters that are indestructible as so many other games do, and part two continues with that formula. The idea that something major could happen at any moment is thrilling and what keeps this series exciting and unpredictable. Part two does not disappoint in this area! Its difficult to review story of this without spoiling any of the first game or this one, but part two picks up right where the first one ends and you should play part one first if you haven't. The new characters introduced in this game are really where the wonderful character building found in part one shines through again. The story details are presented with a complexity that the first game only started to get into with its ending, and its a ride throughout. This is not the type of game that feeds you a static outcome and makes you feel good; it is one that may require you to pay attention to details and reflect on them afterwards. I can see how that might not be for everyone, but it is a story that presents itself with a depth that few other games have, and for that reason it is a masterpiece.

If your a fan of the first game, the sequel expands and innovates like no other. The story is intriguing and written with care, while the game has the most realistic and beautiful graphics to date, and has other video game media beat by a mile due to its technological capabilities. The games controls are smooth and easy to adapt to, which makes it addicting to play. This game has a lengthy story and plenty of progression to keep you busy. Some of the most visceral storytelling is what makes this game special. It is easily one of the best action/survival games out there, if not the best one, and it’s definitely worth picking up.
