Mostly the price. It was on sale. Lower than micro center at the time. This psu is quit enough that you wont hear anything really.

I had to upgrade my PS because I bought a new video card (FYI: If your computer crashes after upgrading to a high-end card don’t forget to look at your power supply after updating all of your drivers). I looked on-line for a new power supply and this one fit the bill at $30.00 less than I could find on-line. Problem solved.

TL;DR at the bottom
I purchased this because my new gpu, RTX2070 needed an 8 pin (6+2) pcie socket. My old GTX950 only needed the 6 pin that came in my case. No biggie, just checked the power need for my card and the rail voltage and it looked good to go. In a few days, however, I noticed that my system would restart frequently, crashing my nvidia drivers and they needed to be installed again. This would happen during games, even when I was getting 60fps.
Turns out this PSU, despite having the wattage, is not suitable for high end graphics cards. The second that my card would pull more power for fans, my pc would restart. I did trouble shooting and didn’t figure this out until my return period was over, bummer. But hey that’s what you get when you don’t do your research. I ended up needing a better PSU and you can find one that will work for your system online. I used LTT’s PSU chart to find one that works for me.
TL;DR: If you’re upgrading your PSU to get a new GPU, go look for a PSU tier list online before buying.

Runs and fits great in my pc. The employees were very helpful finding this product, after my old one died. I haven't had any problems run everything smooth and crisp!

This is the perfect power supply to buy if you are on a budget and aren't putting the latest and greatest CPUs and GPUs into your PC. However, despite it being only 550W, it will still power some of the most demanding last gen systems without breaking a sweat.

I was first very skeptical at this product due to it's Watts rating and the price, since it's a really good deal, but having used it for a couple days, it's fantastic, I've had no issues, I can't vouch for the future but from what I can see now, along with the rest of the reviews, this power supply is a great buy!

Thermaltake is the brand I trust for all my power supply needs. I have not had one dead on arrival like other brands in the past.
I highly recommend this power supply.

Needed a new computer power supply, did not have time to wait on my tech to order through his company. Best Buy had the one I needed that day, purchased online picked it up that day, delivered it to my tech. A five-year warranty makes the deal even sweeter and at a cheaper price. Thanks, Best Buy.

Works great. Sure it's not gold rated, but for the price... Can't beat it. From my experience Thermaltake has always made solid power supplies. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars, it's not modular.
