Good controller. Analog sticks are easy to swap. Has a lot of back buttons. If you’re a Forza fan. It’s worth the purchase.

Surprised my college sons that Dad has a Pro controller with a driving wheel. Got a great Members Deal of Day price under $100. Play PC driving games on Game Pass. Great looking controller in the Forza colors. I had been wanting this controller jumped on the Deal of the Day.

Feels great and the buttons on the back are in the perfect positions in my opinion. Sticks are crap. I've had this for a little over 4 months and now need 2 more sticks. This will make 5 and 6. My xbox elite sticks lasted longer

Love the concept, but just can't get comfortable with it. No matter where I position the steering wheel, it just doesn't feel right. Otherwise, great controller.

I bought it for the wheel, but after one day of use it turned into the best controller I've used, shape the best, feel, vibration, fast and very precise.

bought this in january, in april had to purchase a replacement module because of stick drift. Bought it from the official thrustmaster store on amazon. 14 days later the new one has 18% stick drift. Reading the reviews on amazon this is a pretty common issue and Thrustmaster treats their customers as a joke.

Decent controller quality, but perhaps not for the price. There are other comparable options for a third of the asking price. The main drawbacks are the slightly awkward extra button placement at the bottom and back, as well as unsightly bright LEDs that can't be turned off on the front.

Mechanical buttons are the best thing about this controller. Both sticks got drift in less than one week. Not worth the hassle of doing a warranty replacement and waiting weeks to get a spare part.

Solid Construction, Plenty of Buttons, Wired Only

The Thrustmaster eswap controller has all the heft and feel of a Microsoft Elite Controller. Being able to swap out the sticks and d-pad makes this controller highly customizable. It feels solid and the construction is overall much better feeling than other more basic controllers. The buttons have a great feel to them. The responsiveness is quite high.
The controller has a lot of customizability with the sticks and d-pad, but also you can switch out the hand grips.
The steering wheel option for racing games is a neat little gimmick. It seemed pretty useful in Forza Horizon 5. I don't think it's going to be replacing anyone's full wheel anytime soon, but it does make driving a little easier than using the sticks. I will say there was a point in Horizon 5 when it wanted the d-pad for taking pictures and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. I began digging through the manual and discovered the buttons in the back behave as d-pad when the wheel is plugged in.
A couple of buttons like select and start are out of place and a bit difficult to reach at times. It also has a few buttons for controlling mic volume, etc.
I would say the biggest con is that the controller is wired only. It came with a super long cable, but I would just prefer for it to be wireless overall.
Overall, I would prob take a pass on recommending it to others. I for one know that pretty much everyone would prefer a wireless option. I like it, but I don't love it. If you're in the market for a good wired controller this might be your option.

Glitchy, despite being connected via cable. I was very excited to receive, but was equally disappointed by controller once i received.

I've used a lot of controllers in my time, I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600 came out haha. Over the years especially since gaming is such a big business now and even considered a sport, Alot more attention to detail and comfortability has been put into controllers because people are putting so many hours into using them.
We all get controllers where we love the layout and feel and then some others where we wish this was in a different place or these buttons were over this way a little. Until then nothing could be done about but with the Thrustmaster XR Pro you can easily swap out parts as fast and as easy as you can replace a battery. Just pop one out and drop it in one of the four slots available to really customize your controller to the fit and feel that suits you and your style best.
It also has 4 customizable buttons on the back, and 6 more buttons at the bottom. With the Forza edition you get the drivers wheel as one of your swap blocks which makes driving games in my opinion so much more fun without having to have a whole full size driving wheel set up. It comes with concave and convex joy sticks depending on what fits you best, Everything fits tight once locked in. The controller as a whole is very comfortable as well. Bei9ng a little bit larger than a general Xbox controller.

Cool controller that adapts to how you play!

This is a new "spin" on a controller and I love it. The special power on this controller is the ability to "swap" (hence the name) the d-pad and two analog sticks. They're built as little modules that you can easily remove (just held in with fairly strong magnets - they don't move or wiggle in use, but they come out fairly easily too) and either replace or move around. So if you want to to go from say an Xbox layout with offset sticks to a playstation layout (with sticks next to each other on the bottom), you can do that in about 5 seconds - it's that easy. That also means that you can get a few extra stick modules IF you're worried about stick drift in the future (I have NOT experienced any drift in my usage).
This particular version of the eSWAP is themed around Forza Horizon 5 - though it will work with any Xbox Series game or controller supporting PC game - and so it comes with a special extra module you can swap in that's basically a small steering wheel you operate with your thumb. I'm still getting used to this after YEARS of playing Forza and other racing games with a stick, but it's a very cool concept and it actually does work pretty well. The idea is that you really only need left and right (not the 4 dimensions a stick gives you) and the mini wheel gives you finer grain control over the left vs right than a stick does. It also automatically comes back to center when you let go of it. I think with regular practice, I'll quickly get better with it than I am with a stick. You can put this module anywhere you like (any of the three spots, that is) since they're all interchangeable. I ended up replacing the d-pad with it - and it seems like this is probably the most common layout (there are 4 buttons on the back of the controller that emulate a D-pad's up, down, left, right actions to you can still navigate menus that require a d-pad even if you've removed that module). The Forza theme also extends to the color scheme which is nicely done and stands out in a crowd.
Beyond the special features, this is also a very solid controller. The size and shape feel good in the hands and the buttons have a satisfying action to them - not stiff, not mushy just solid and nice to use. The same is true for the rear triggers and the d-pad/stick modules. This is a controller you can play with for many hours on end. Besides the controller and modules, you get a nice storage bag and a small tool to help remove the d-pad (which is nearly impossible without the tool since there's nothing to "grab on to" to pull it out..but very easy with the tool which slots into a little whole in the middle of the pad). The whole thing is well-built and seems like it will be durable.
One note, this is a WIRED controller - it comes with a removeable cable which is nice so you can replace it in the future if it frays/breaks though it is also of high quality. The cable is quite long and I didn't have any problems reaching from my console to where I sit, but something to keep in mind before you purchase.
SO if you don't mind the wire, this is a great flexible way to play your favorite racing games - or any games that support a controller really - on Xbox or PC. Give it a try today!

The first thing I noticed about the Thrustmaster - eSwap X R Pro Controller Forza Horizon 5 Edition is the weight... It's pretty hefty. Not like Heavy but like solid, and very well built. The fit and finish on the controller is top notch. The gaps are nice and small, and there is no sharp edges or casting flash etc... there are no rattles, and each and every button is nice and tactile.Button presses and clicks are firm and give great feed back. The modules fit into the body so well I at first thought that the D pad didn't come out on mine for some reason and I had to check online and verify that I got the version where the direction arrows could be swapped around. Everything about this controller just oozes quality except for the USB cable connection. This controller uses a USB A to micro USB cable and when plugging it into the controller it's easy to get it offset to where it won't plug in or it's jamming up. In this day and age of the USB C cable, I don't know why anyone would use anything else? Also the app that I downloaded as per the instructions is very clunky and hard to use. It's very confusing. I tried to download the latest firmware several times just to have it fail every time. I'm not the only one either as every review on the app page is a negative review stating that it's broken and doesn't work right. Also the settings menu for the controller is also confusing and clunky to use. I did get it figured out eventually but it isn't very intuitive. Overall the controller is awesome and well built. I hope future versions swap the cable out for USB C, and I hope that they get the software side of everything worked out and make it easier to use. As far as game play goes, the controller is very linear, the haptic feedback feels great, the controlls are responsive, the steering wheel mod is really neat and I was consistantly faster using the wheel vs the stick as it's simply easier to dial in how much steering input I want. The Thrustmaster - eSwap X R Pro Controller Forza Horizon 5 Edition is my new favorite controller, and I look forward to hopefully the future improvements as they iron out the wrinkles in their app/software.

acclimation period aside a (drifting) game changer

I'm not really sure where to even start with this thing because it does a lot right and performs as expected. So I guess I will concentrate on my two cons, one big & one small.
Big: the wheel module. It works great for drifting and takes some time to get used to it, but once you do it is the next best thing to a wheel/pedal setup for drifting. You can carry amazingly beautiful flow from one transition to the next with it. Actual racing, though? Not so much. Maybe if you go through the software and the game you're playing settings to get it dialed in *just* right, but for me trying to race with the wheel module was slower lap time to lap time when comparing it against using the joysticks.
Sure, it allows for more precision but the overall flow TO ME just isn't there. So this is where the "acclimation period" I refer to in the title of this review comes into play. I may simply require more seat time with it to see the benefits. I left it installed on the controller and would use it at random while playing FH5 (alternating back and forth with the joystick to try similar sections lap to lap and allow for a direct comparison between the two) and my ~1 week of use conclusion is that quick lane changes, fast maneuvers in general, the wheel module is less than ideal. Chi-canes, sweeping turns, "normal" passing, etc...it works awesome.
Small: it is a wired device. This is what it is, it's wired. Do I wish it were wireless? Yes, but it isn't. Not a game-breaker, but in my opinion at this price-point it should be wireless, but whatever.
Anything else that I found a slight fault with was nothing I'd consider keeping me from purchasing or recommending the Thrustmaster - eSwap X R Pro Controller.
The buttons all have a very satisfying click to them after an initial "spongey" depression range. Hard to describe, but compared to the OEM controllers, it is a nice subtle difference. You have four additional backside buttons that can act as your cursor incase you want to run two joysticks with the wheel module (the two on the top are your up/down, the two on the bottom act as your left/right) which is typically how I use the eSwap.
The fact you can get other modules, replacements, and further customize the eSwap keeps any worries about durability at bay. Sure, things shouldn't break, but sometimes they do. Knowing you can snag a ~$20 module and keep on rolling is nice peace of mind versus having to purchase an entire controller due to a broken joystick.
I removed a single star for the combination of being wired and if the wheel doesn't come natural to you and you don't have a lot of time to get acclimated to it, you won't really benefit from it's use. Aside from that I love everything about it and if I had a few more weeks to get even more time with said wheel I may be singing a completely different tune about it. But as of right now, I'm simply not comfortable enough with it to sing it's praises blindly across the board for all racing types.
