Having owned a TiVo Premiere for four years, I decided it was time for an upgrade. After some research, I decided to purchase the brand spanking new TiVo Bolt. I wanted a TiVo that would allow for easy access to swap out the hard drive and this fit that description. While 500GB (75 hours of HD content) is decent, it is not ideal. I opted for a 2TB hard drive. The shape of this device is a little odd. I get the feeling that TiVo is trying to stick out while in your media center. But the size is considerably smaller than my old Premiere. Definitely not my favorite design, but not entirely ugly either. Swapping out the hard drive was easy, once you can get the plastic casing off. No need to install anything, literally just plug and play. Yay! I don't know if there is something wrong with my box, but my wifi doesn't like to connect online. I consider myself tech savvy, but after an evening of trying to connect, I gave up. Luckily, I already have an ethernet cable waiting from my old TiVo. I didn't want to go through the exchange process as I had already swapped out the hard drive. This thing is fast! That was the first thing I noticed after getting everything up and running. I had never used any of the apps (Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, etc) before because they were slow to load and not as refined as my video game consoles. This box is so fast, I have no problem using them here. I love the commercial skip feature. It doesn't work with all shows, but a good 70% of the ones I've seen. Overall, it is a great upgrade that I would highly recommend.

Does what it should. Set up was flawless, no issues recording so far. Skipping the commercials is probably the top selling point. Only Ding is could have more tuners and storage.

Bought this so I could quit paying $50/month for Verizon Quantum DVR system that had multiple problems. My configuration (DVR plus 2 minis pays for itself in 1 year; then I'm only out the TIVO fee annually. It does everything the Quantum DVR does; does it faster; doesn't hang up; actually responds to the remote; and the commercial skip feature is a great.

I've been a Tivo user since the 2004 and have also used the Tivo Roamio and the Tivo mini. The Tivo Bolt is a very nice upgrade especially for cord cutters. I find it works a lot better with my HD antenna than the Roamio did. The commerical skip feature is the highlight of this Tivo. It's smaller than the Tivo Roamio so it fits nicely on my TV stand. I have a white stand so the white color was perfect. I believe they are planning for it to come out in black for anyone who prefers it. It also works well with the Mini. When I set it up, I was able to transfer all my recorded shows from the Roamio to it via a network connection. I would definitely recommend it to first time buyers, as well as, to those looking to upgrade. Worth every penny!

TiVo service costs$149 annually which way less than cable company rental box. The TiVo bolt provides extra features like commercial skip that your cable provider doesn't and the set up and navigation is very easy to use. Many more features that a small post can't cover. You won't be disappointed if you decide to purchase one and fee your self from the cable box handcuffs!

I have been using a Tivo since the earliest models. I absolutely LOVE the Bolt, it's super easy to use and the "skip" feature is something I didn't think I would care about until I started using it. Well done, Tivo!!

We have had the new Tivo installed for about a month now. Very satisfied. It provides 4k content when available, and the Skip feature is a real advantage. No trouble in the installation process except that Comcast had an inventory problem with the required cards so had to make two trips to get those.

TiVo has always had the best user interface of any DVR, and the Bolt is no exception. The new commercial skip feature (alas, only available on some channels) is terrific. My only complaint is that the top is not flat, so nothing else can be put on it.

We wanted to save some money, so paying for the unit up front and then subscribing to what we wanted made much more economical sense that paying a higher "cable company" fee for our shows/movies. Plus, we can record local channels and skip all the commercials.

Love all the features it has to offer. User friendly menu with the ever so delightful commercial skip feature. Love it!!!

Great set-top box. Online services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.) integrate perfectly with recorded shows. Love the commercial skip and fast mode viewing options. The only downside is you lose Video-On-Demand and Pay-Per-View and that $15/mo fee but otherwise the Bolt is cheaper, faster, has more features than renting from you cable company and you get to keep the box.

I bought this to use with twc. Although I have some issues with twc cards, the TiVo itself is awesome. Much better then the TiVo I had in college...about 8 years ago. This one skips all commercials which is neat and does 4K but there's nothing really 4K yet. I do recommend picking up a 2tb laptop hdd and tossing it into the unit. If you're handy at all it's easy and is just a direct swap. So don't waste money on the 1tb version.

Finally got fed up with $100+ satellite bill and this box connected to a small antenna on my roof (used existing directv coax) works wonders, the commercial skip feature is great the 30% faster feature can me tough to watch on certain programs, but all in all worth the money!

The Bolt has some great features I like the one pass feature to record my favorite shows and the commercial skip mode so I can keep up with my shows in less time.

This TIVO Bolt seems faster going in and out of Menus so it must have a faster processor. The Commercial Skip works great when available which is about 75% of my recorded shows. And the QUICK watch works good. Overall a good improvement over my TICO Premiere

Only had it for a few weeks, but love it so far. The auto skip commercials is amazing. The part where it fast forwards at 30 percent is a bit odd, but not too bad.

I love my TiVo bolt. I previously owned the roamio and this one is even better. Works great with an ota antenna. Love the commercial skip feature, it saves so much time.

This DVR is perfectly awesome! I love how fast this TiVo respond and the skip feature, heaven!!!

I use both a comcast dvr and the tivo bolt and the bolt is becoming my favorite. the only issue is the ondemand sometimes doesn't work or won't let me select HD shows. If that bug is fixed, I would ditch my comcast dvr. bolt is easy to use and looks better sitting out! I love commercial skip option for recorded shows. I

I help friends with their TV needs as a hobby. So I’ve set up several TiVo Bolts. I’ve been a TiVo user for about 10 yrs and have always been very satisfied with them. The Bolt is their latest model with 4 to 6 tuners, voice control (on the Bolt Vox model). It also has a number of the major apps built-in (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu. Pandora). One of its best features is The Commercial Skip feature. As soon as commercials start it pops up a message & chimes to que you to tap a button on the remote which takes you instantly back to the program. It works on select recordings only but a good deal of the prime time programming has the feature. You can also potentially save $ by not renting your cable company’s DVR. Lastly although the 4 tuner Bolt can be used with an antenna instead of cable. The TiVo Roamio OTA model should be considered if you are only going to use it for OTA (antenna TV). The Roamio OTA model doesn’t require an ongoing subscription and some report it has better OTA reception.
