We got a really good deal on this tv when it was on sale. I am not sure I would have purchased at full price, but considering the discount we got , it was worth it. Picture is good enough. We bought this as a replacement

Needed a second TV to hook up to my Xbox and this served the purpose. For a couple hundred bucks it gave me an ultra wide playing field, was easy to hook up, allows me to keep in touch with cable news shows in my home office, and offers a passable picture.

I bought this TV for a vacation rental property I have. The picture is ok but not as clear as you would expect from an HD TV. It serves its purpose for my rental but I would not want this as my primary TV in my home.

Did my research and stated that this tv has great sound/ volume quality...but that's not the case for me. I've turned it to 50 and barely has a decent sound. Very disappointed with the sound quality!!!

Good quality TV for price

Bought this tv today after some extensive reviewing of tvs online within the price range that I wanted ($300 to 400). This was on the low end of that range, and for what I got I am very pleased. I previously had a Toshiba tv unit that I bought in 2010 that had been going strong for 6 years, and have owned several Toshiba laptops, so I figured this would be a good brand to stick with for hardware quality.
Picture: On first impression, the picture isn't great, but with tweaking in the settings, which are extensive, this thing can make a great display for tv shows, movies, and games. I recommend setting up a different mode and tweaking them for each of these that you want to view. The only issue I have with the picture is that at 60hz and an 8ms response time, action scenes in games and sports WILL blur some. This is going to happen with any 60hz set, so I wasn't surprised to find it on this unit. As with most tvs, I recommend turning off anything that says "dynamic" on the advanced settings page, and then tweaking settings from there. There is also a good bit of glare from harsh light sources since this screen is gloss and not matte, but once again that is an aspect of the tv and will be the case on any other glossy tv. 8/10.
Sound: I am pleasantly happy with this tv's sound. My previous Toshiba tv had very tinny speakers, and I can say this unit has full sound, with great mids and highs and pretty good bass for what you'd expect from a tv unit. It is powered by two 10w speakers, so the sound can get decently loud as well. I recommend upping the bass and treble settings to +8 or so for most uses, and also turn off TruSurround and see if you prefer it off or on. I personally prefer it to be off for most uses, but it does add some immersion when watching movies. Sound is actually really solid, and if it bothers you there is both a 3.5mm sound output and an optical digital output for sound bars. 10/10.
Other aspects: The tv weighs only 24-25 pounds and is very easy to transport. I was able to lug it up three flights of stairs to my apartment by myself, with minimal effort, however I am pretty tall. For those that are short, two average-strength people could also easily get it up several flights without worrying about it hitting the stairs. The tv's stands were easy to assemble, and I had the tv unboxed, stand assembled, and hooked up in about 8-10 minutes. It wobbles a tiny bit on the stand, but after giving a solid 10 lbs of pressure on it in either direction, the stand does not budge and it doesn't look like it would fall over without considerable effort.
Overall I'd give the tv a 9/10 for a no-frills, non-smart tv that is 1080p and runs at 60hz and is super cheap. For its price its picture is good, its sound is excellent, and it does exactly what it is supposed to do.

The TV did not open any video format file when plugged via a usb to the TV. Also the image quality wasn't so decent. I purchased a 40" Samsung with the same price from best buy; it is smart TV and meets my expectations.

Having purchased this from Best Buy for a price well less than $300, I concur with most reviewers that this is an excellent TV for a reasonable price. Excellent picture, sound much better than my 6 year old Visio that failed, easy setup and for more flexibility there are many settings options in the menu system. I had to call Toshiba technical support to ask a question and after only a 10 minute wait found the rep to be very helpful. As it has 3 HDMI inputs, if you want a smart TV which this is not, you have the option to use sticks such as for Roku or Amazon. If it lasts a long time without problems, then this will have been an excellent purchase.

Near Perfect Tv for a Budget

I have purchased this Toshiba television about a month ago and I have been thoroughly impressed; It is almost the perfect television if you are on a budget and not needing many extra features. I searched many stores in town to find a 49-50 in tv for a few days but struggled to find one at a good price, but then I found this one on sale at best buy. It will look great in any mid-sized living room, and you’ll enjoy the picture quality and superior sound quality.
Connectivity/Features: The only issue I can see with this television is not being a smart tv. It is increasingly more common for a television to have smart capabilities, but this Toshiba does not. However, if you have any streaming devices (PlayStation, Xbox, Roku, Chromecast…) the problem is resolved. This Toshiba 49” has three HDMI ports, an AUX out, USB port, Composite Video input, and a Digital Optical Audio Output. The fact that the television has both an AUX out and an optical audio out allows you to connect to a audio receiver or soundbar.
Picture: With the 49” screen size (48.5”) the 1080p LED displays vivid colors and high contrasts; perfect for watching sports on the weekend or movies at home. The 60Hz refresh rate also makes fast moving screens transition with ease. The LED display works well in both bright and low light settings, and has a wide viewing angle for everyone to enjoy.
Sound: From my experience, this has the best sound quality of any television in its class. You wouldn’t need to purchase a soundbar to enjoy great sound with anything you are viewing. Specifically, there are two 10-Watt speakers and DTS TruSurround which delivers a virtual surround sound and maximized clarity.
Negatives: As stated previously, the primary issue I had with the television was that there was no smart-tv capabilities. Other issue that I encountered was the tv stand doesn’t allow for the screen to be rotated for a better angle, and the included remote feels like it is cheaply made.
Overall, the quality with the television is shown in many aspects of the television, and the issues you may encounter are easily resolved. You’ll find that setup is a breeze, and it will be the focal point of any room. Toshiba did an incredible job in manufacturing a high-quality television that is at an affordable price.

Tv stopped working within a week of purchase. Just went dead. No power. Bought for business and now a pain to return to manufacturer. In future will buy only Best Buy brands as I'm told Geek Squad will do site visits to repair their own large screen TVs.

This tv is just great.
I bought one, online, for my daughter in Chicago. She loved it so much i bought one for her sister in Dallas. And now that i have seen the one in Dallas, i see why she is so excited.
Picture is crystal clear. The sound is just terrific. I added a wifi Blue Ray player and both are now Smart capable with internet browsing. An incredible value.
I have a sound bar on the one in Dallas, and for this small investment we have a legit home theater.
But really, a 49" 1080 tv for less than 300.00 is remarkable.
I cannot recommend highly enough.

I'm not super into technology, I just wanted a tv that I can watch movies on when I'm bored at home and this tv is PERFECT for that. It's so easy to set up and hook up your DVD player to. I love it. For what I paid, they quality is excellent.

No apps, no network connectivity, no extras. It is just a good tv. It is light, it doesn't give off any heat. It has a great picture and great sound. You won't need a home theater or sound bar with this one. My blu-ray player and satellite receiver fit between the tv and the stand. We bought this on March 24, 2016

TV is great. Picture is crystal clear and sound is awesome. Set up was very simple. No need for external speaker as it has 20w speaker. Very loud and clear sound. To make as a smart tv you need a streaming device. What else someone need. Build Quality of the tv is good and weigh less suprisingly. Anyone wants non smart tv with less price and good quality, this is the right choice

Value Priced But High End Performance

I was a little skeptical of this TV because the price was so low, but the other reviews were good. I'm glad I trusted those reviews. This TV is one of the best values in televisions right now. Does it look like a $2000 TV? No. But it does perform just as well as midrange premium brands do. Colors and black levels are better than expected. Plenty of options for adjustments. Sound output to my soundbar is great. Sounds better than my previous TV. I'm very happy with my purchase so far.

I love my new tv! I am quite pleased with having 3 HDMI plug ins, because I am able to connect my U-Verse, DVD player, and Apple tv to the back of my tv without having to change out the cables. Pristine HD picture and the sound is excellent! There is no need to buy a soundbar. It was very easy to install the legs onto the tv using a Philips screwdriver. Easy to setup channels. I bought this basic tv, instead of the Smart tv, because I already have the black box (Apple Tv) so by connecting a HDMI cable, I am able to watch Netflix and Hulu. An Excellent Value! This is an awesome tv? I'm so pleased with my purchase, and highly recommend it to anyone!

I bought this TV as an upgrade from my Magnavox 32''. Another reviewer claimed trouble with this TV and his Xbox, but it works perfectly with my PS4. The picture is great for HD streaming and video games, but standard definition cable won't look very great. The audio quality isn't very loud, I have to turn it up to about 65 to hear clearly, but you can't really complain for $299! Overall great picture and quality.
