Excellent TV with a huge flaw

The TV is fine. Great picture, excellent sound, and no issues. Sadly, they made a massive error and it's unforgivable. Believe it or not, some people still have cable TV. We have Tivos or other DVRs and gadgets. Toshiba forgot all about us when they built this interface. So what's the flaw? No matter where you were in what input you were on, when you turn the TV off and then back on, it defaults to the setup screen of the TV. Every time you turn it in, you need to navigate to the inputs and select whatever one you used for your cable service. I use a TiVo and the remote controls power and volume. But no matter what, I need to use 2 remotes, because unless you have a 3rd party universal remote, you need their remote to navigate their menus. If the TV want already on the wall I'd have returned it. I'm opting to live with it because it's not my primary TV. I'm also hopeful they will put out a software fix or option to correct this insane design flaw. If they do it goes to 5 stars.

    Not your conventional TV

I wanted to return this thing on Day 1. It is almost a hybrid monitor/tv. My old Toshiba 1080p had a better picture. I wasn’t really looking for 4k as I know it depends more on the incoming technology. But the price was right. I’m getting used to the functionality. When you power this thing on, the TV does not simply tune in. It takes you to the homepage where you can pick your input. I suspect if you are a gamer, this is an awesome set up. Sound is average, but paired up easily with my old Vizio soundbar. I use an antenna and Roku...haven’t delved too much into the fire stick yet (just with a few accounts I have already: Netflix and youtube). All inputs are easy to hook up/set up. Picked up a decent amount of stations through my Leaf antenna. While this wouldn’t have been my first choice as a conventional television, I imagine this is the new “conventional.” Good quality but not exceptional.

The TV itself is fine. Good picture quality, plenty of connections for consoles, etc. But, the Fire TV OS is awful (at least after years of using a Roku), the built in Alexa is OK at best, and getting it connected to my Echo Dot proved fruitless. The OS suffers from serious slowdowns on random occasions. Nonnative YouTube app means using the web browser(there is a native app coming back to Fire at some point later this year). The Settings shortcut (longpress on the Home button on the remote while in any app) has decided it no longer works, annoying because that’s a quick easy access to the Sleep Timer. Had a Toshiba LCD TV for many years that this replaced. Wish I’d gone into the store and played with this one before buying. I’d have sought another brand with a different built in OS

Good tv with some performance issues

I was very impressed with Fire TV software. There is a bit of a learning curve to use this over a traditional tv, but it is very nice once you figure it out. Picture - the picture is ok. There are better performing low cost tv's available, but this picture is acceptable. Audio - Really bad sync issues that come and go. All apps and inputs seem to be affected. I've yet to find a good resolution. Sometimes restarting the tv works. Adjusting audio delay settings helps a little, but never solves the issue completely. I'm hoping there is an OS update that will fix this in the near future. Overall: Fire Tv is impressive certainly at the price point offered on Prime Day, but at regular I think there are options with better performing panels that don't have audio issues. If the audio issue went away I would say this is a solid 4 star tv.

The setup was easy, but the constant app updates are a pain in the butt. The apps freeze up sometimes which require us to go into the settings and perform a "force stop" to restart the app and get the shows to play again. The issue started within a few days of owning the t.v. so I called the Fire TV customer service number posted on Amazon and the guy walked me through the steps to clear the cache; following his steps meant that you have to type in your user name and password for each app that had to be reset each time you have to clear the cache, force stop, and restart the t.v. which is a huge hassle. We decided to keep it because the price was right, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Purchased this tv due to the positive reviews. The tv itself is awesome picture perfect clarity. I had issues with a fire stick and was told the issue weren't prevalant with the fire edition tv. They were wrong. Amazon's app is continuously freezing up. Quite often I can't access my Hulu or Netflix accounts due to an error or it doesn't load. Same issues I had with a fire stick. It loses wifi randomly and often. I plug my Roku express into it and it runs perfect. So I know it's not my internet provider. The tv itself is great I just feel I lost out somewhat due to paying extra money for the fire edition.

This was a great TV, good sound quality, picture was not as sharp as I’d like it to be, had to do a lot of configuration to the settings to get it where I liked it most. I noticed the picture wasn’t as sharp as other 4K TVs so I was a little disappointed, fast forward a month and all video goes out. Sound and all other functionality is there except for any picture whatsoever. Hopefully the next one they give me will be fine. I do love all the apps you can get, I don’t even use my cable box anymore.

I bought this as a secondary TV to put in the back room and use without cable hookups or game system due to it being a smart TV. I took the TV back due to the fact that I would have to call my local internet provider into a Wi-Fi router check or a Wi-Fi router Exchange just to get the TV to work. If you're willing to do the work for it the TV in picture quality wasn't that bad, just not the TV for me since it'll be in a back room hardly used.

The television is not bad at all. I really like the 50" size and also the ability to adjust the colors and contrast etc on the fly. Also there is the ability to adjust to your sound needs. At the end of the day the display output is dependent on the source of the programming I believe. But overall this is a good enough entry level panel. My surprise was that the image wasn't. prestine as I was expected from this hyped up 4K thing,

Picture quality is not bad however there seems to be a gamma issue because everything is a little washed out. HDR is not a true HDR via the hardware it's synthetic with software however it does make a little bit of difference. Amazon OS is completely ad driven and unorganized that is the number one drawback at this TV. But for 280 bucks on sale it's definitely worth the price

This TV is pretty good, found my wireless setup immediately and let me connect to it. The TV will not allow you to use any of the smart TV functions (such as syncing your iphone to the TV or watching youtube)without you making an account with Amazon, Netflix or a few other programs, this just isn't right imo. If I would have known this I would have purchased a Visio for a few extra bucks and not had this problem.

The TV is nice But I don’t like having to use two remote controls. With this being a smart TV you have to use the TVs remote to cut it on and cut it off and you have to select TV or one of the apps that comes with the TV and I don’t like that. I think it will be complicated for a child or for a senior citizen to us. The picture is beautiful on the TV and the colors are great.

So I deliberated for a while on this rating. I went back and forth between and 3 and 4 star. But the main issues I have with this tv are enough to bring it down. My main issue is that the tv glitches a lot randomly and has streaks across the screen. They fade after a few seconds but it’s annoying. It can also be slow to respond.

This particular smart television provides a great picture, but the television, when changing channels, will lose its picture while the sound quality remains the same. By changing from the cable television mode to, for example, Netflix, and then back to a cable station, the picture returns. Therefore, lots of trouble and likely a problem with this individual unit.

I bought the TV since my Sharp TV broke down two months after my warranty expired. So I thought the Toshiba was on sale. Big mistake the picture quality was horrible everything was dark my wife was very upset that I chose such a bad TV. I thought I bought an upgrade to my old TV but it was worse. The HD channels looked SD. Not buying Toshibas anymore.

Got this as a secondary TV. Price is great for the product but I wouldn’t expect a great picture. It says it’s 4K but have not been able to get it past 420 and no one seems to know how. Most of the reviews I have seen are my compliant just not a great picture. If your looking for something on the cheap side with good features due to it being a FireTV I think you’ll be happy.

The tv is all in all a nice tv. However I’m very disappointed in the quality. The remote control broke within 2 weeks and after contacting amazon and Best Buy there was nothing they could do. Also because the remote is toshiba there’s no way to buy a replacement remote.

For the price it is OK. It seems that Alexa only works if you have Amazon prime. The picture is about as good or better than similarly priced TVs. Sometimes the motion blur is particularly bad on this model

Every so often the sound goes really loud or really soft, and occasionally the colors need to be balanced because people will look orange. It’s okay for a lower-end television but it’s not spectacular.

Bought the tv to use with Alexa and other smart home appliances but the quality appeared washed out and seemed to have trouble picking up WiFi quite often. Ultimately went with a Samsung
