When this bundle kicked in, I made a purchase for my dad to replace for his 5-year-old laptop computer.

I bought this laptop when it was featured recently as a deal of the day for $249. I had tried a HP laptop from Staples and Best Buy which featured both the same A8-6410 processor and 4GB of RAM. I returned both HP's as they both felt cheap and had sluggish performance. Out of the box, this laptop felt much more responsive.
One negative note is that the internal WiFi adapter will cripple your WiFi experience. A quick benchmark on Speak Easy showed then download speed as 5 Mbps while the upload speed was 11Mbps! Installing the newest drivers from the Toshiba website did not fix the problem. If you simply look in the Toshiba forums or Google 'Toshiba Satellite' and 'WiFi', you will find my WiFi experience is not the exception but the norm. I resorted to buying a cheap $15 wireless USB adapter from Amazon to fix the internet connection problem. With the wireless USB adapter, my download speeds are now in excess of 50 Mbps.
Also, the mouse touch pad seamed a bit quirky, but a wireless mouse fixed this.
While this laptop is not designed primarily for gaming, it will play many 2012 and earlier games at high graphic detail levels with frame rates greater than 30 FPS. Current games can be played at reduced graphics settings.
Finally, Toshiba markets this laptop as not being user upgradeable. The average PC user will absolutely be able to replace the battery, upgrade the RAM or hard drive, among other things. You simply need to remove 12+ screws from the back panel and use a credit card to gently pry the panel off.
I now have 12GB of RAM in this laptop, and absolutely love its performance!

I bought this as a gift for my father who has a difficult time with computers and he is able to use it with ease (his last computer was from 2006 and he complained that it was getting slow...duh!). He loves it and hasn't had any issues at all. I have another, smaller toshiba 2-in1 that's also been great so far.

I bought this laptop for a specific reason and it works for that reason but for normal functions that I would perform otherwise this laptop runs pretty slow. This is actually the second one I purchased since the first laptop didn't work when I got it home. I immediately took it back to the store to find that it didn't output any video in any way. I was reluctant to take home the second one but it still performs its specific task.

Bought this as an inexpensive computer for my son to use in college. Works fine for the price. The processor seems to be fast enough and there is plenty of storage. Can't expect lightning fast speeds in the price range, but got exactly what I expected.

I bought this laptop for my son, who is in college. The first laptop had issues, so we had to return it. It was the exact same model. This one works fine. With all the memory it works fast. You can't get a 1 TB laptop for this price. The screen is large, 16 in? It has a right Numberpad on the keyboard. The laptop does not come Microsoft word. It has windows 8.1 and came with the free upgrade. Works as good as the 4gb Lenovo and Hp. It takes a while to update initially. Then smooth sailing from there on. Not a small laptop, but is sort of heavy.

I had read the user reviews and consulted the in-store staff before purchasing this laptop, wondering if a computer priced this low would be any good, and knew that I'd be taking a risk. I had a good experience with my previous Toshiba laptop and decided to take a chance. The positive - screen quality is very good, startup is relatively quick, and it's good for browsing online and streaming videos. The negative - as others have said, there are times when the touchpad becomes unresponsive for no reason, and you simply have to wait it out. And, when directing the cursor with the touchpad, if you move towards the center of the pad it shrinks the screen image and if you move it away from center it expands it, forcing you to reset to default constantly. Plus, there have been a few times where it's simply shut down on me while I'm using it, and the CD/DVD tray is made of very thin plastic, so I'm afraid it'll snap off at any time when I'm loading a disc. Other than that, it's still working fine after a few months.

Is good for the price, has 4gb of RAM, 1tb HDD, 15.6in screen. Not the most powerful of processors, but still an all around good little laptop.
I do wish it did have it where you could change out the battery so if the battery goes bad you don't have to take it all apart.

I needed a laptop for some spreadsheeting and internet away from home and this works great. It's not the fastest system but it's not meant to be. The expectation with this purchase should be basic computer use. Don't expect to do any gaming outside some indie games or web games. Has a great hdd space so you can save plenty of files. About a month in I've experienced no problems with it. It's good value for the money as long as you keep expectations in check.

We bought this for a trip to use for resumes and Netflix. It's a bit buggy and slow but we are used to computers that cost triple this. For the price it's a good buy.

Decent computer for the price. Bought at a discount as open box item. Daughter happy with it Would have given 5 stars if not for the fact that the Toshiba models have an issue staying connected to the wireless internet. Because I had already owned a Toshiba and dealt with this prior I wasn't too concerned. Simply need to change factory set settings for your firewall or security system.

I use the computer for basics such as word documents, Facebook, managing my I Tunes account and some bill paying. I also use it for some minor photo editing. If you want to do something more than basic photo editing you will want something a little more than this one, but for what I need this computer works just fine. I like it.

I purchased this laptop on sale for my daughter who is college bound. Seemed like a great bargain - came with a flash drive, protective sleeve, etc.. well, you know what they say..too good to be true is too good to be true. Upon removing it from the box to set it up, my first thought was "uh-oh..this thing is pretty flimsy". It wasn't a matter of IF it was going to get broken, it was more like WHEN.
I have just gotten around to setting it up for my daughter (it's supposed to be a surprise gift) and immediately discovered the touch pad wasn't operating properly. Finally got that resolved, only to discover one or two of the keys on the keyboards didn't want to work. There is no way I can send my daughter off to college with this laptop. School is stressful enough without adding computer problems in the mix.
Unfortunately, I bought this item when it was on sale back in May. It's now August and I'm quite certain BB's return policy will entail sending it back to the manufacturer. I'm headed there now to see what they can do for me, and probably buy a replacement laptop, Not sure what I'll do with this one, assuming Toshiba will fix it and return it. Still a piece of junk...
Don't waste your money on this item. Spend a few extra bucks and save yourself a lot of potential problems. Just saying....

Sure am glad I checked out Best Buy Outlet; 4Gb RAM, ITb HD, I5 equivalent CPU and all the other bells & whistles for a great price. The only drawback is that Toshiba will void warranty if you add memory -- so I'll wait. Recommend this item

I read a few reviews about this computer being slow or whatever. And this tend to be true for many computer in general (at first). I recommend doing a clean install, a whole new world of speed opens up for this thing as all the bloatware and unneeded stuff is removed. If done properly, id easily compare speeds to laptops costing twice as much. I haven't used it for gaming, mainly for school type stuff, and i use Android Studio without a problem. And the price is perfect!
