Customers are saying

Customers value the Motorola Moto E 4G for its long battery life, affordable price, and good camera quality. Many appreciate its ease of use, 4G LTE capabilities, and screen size. However, some users experienced performance issues and found the storage capacity to be limited. The lack of a flash on the camera was also noted as a drawback by a few customers.

I bought this phone hoping it could be used as more than a basic calling phone. Its specs support Android very well. I experience no lag while scrolling through the apps and after installing a few more apps for entertainment. I love the fact that the phone was made to be durable with the scratch resistant back although I am not sure if there is anything special about the front glass. The screen also displays beautifully vibrant colors. The screen resolution is not insanely high but enough to provide crispy clear pictures, unlike other low budget phones. The camera also takes decent pictures despite the lack of flash. It is also worth to note that this phone works for both Verizon CDMA and regular GSM which makes it a very good world phone for traveling (a simple trick may be required to fully enable the GSM capability and can be easily found on Google). Overall, a very nice purchase.

I'm giving it a full 5 stars because of the features vs cost - if I was going on phone alone I'd probably go with 4 stars. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money for a phone or have a long lasting contract. Some pros and cons Pros: cost, Lollipop 5, long battery life, stripped down Android, nice size, strong signal, 4G LTE, front facing camera that I can use with Skype, nice speed - but I'm comparing with a Galaxy S 3 Cons: locked bootloader that cannot be unlocked, unable to root (probably more a function of lollipop), no NFC, 8GB vs 16Gb of internal memory - just make sure to get an SD card and move apps to the SD card that allow for it - I have a good number of the popular apps and still have 1GB free

For the money, can't beat this phone. Good build quality, good battery life, decent screen, decent speed. This phone is literally 80-90% of the flagship phone experience for like 20% the price. And you still get lte capability and the ability to use sd cards. Hands down the best phone for the price. Just remember, this phone isn't gonna blow you away. But when you remember how much it costs, you will be impressed.

I bought this phone for my mother who uses a few apps but does not need high-end products. This phone suited her perfectly well and for the price, it was a steal. I really like the quality and build of the phone. Motorola is good at making mid tier phones and this one with LTE takes the cake. The screen is good with great colors but a slightly low resolution (-1 star for that). The speed is very good and did not see any lag at first few days of use. I would buy this again as a gift.

For the price, this is a great bargain phone. Comes with Android 5.02 and Verizon LTE. Works out of the box. Apps work well and smooth. You can have cheap extra storage for your songs, pictures, videos, and HERE maps with the SD card slot. Since it is a 4G LTE phone, it can be used with most GSM operators like T-Mobile or AT&T. Great buy if you're looking for a contract-free Android device for Verizon LTE. The phone ships with Lollipop 5.0.2 installed and has great reviews everywhere. I bought this to test out Verizon and was hoping it would be unlocked and possibly compatible with GSM but it isn't. Not a dealbreaker because it does exactly what I wanted it to do. You can activate it on any Verizon MVNO. The only thing it doesn't have which I wish it did is NFC. The model on this phone is XT1528 and it is almost pure Android. There are few Motorola and Verizon apps but not many. This is probably the best deal going for a non-contract Verizon Smartphone for under 100.00. You can activate it on postpaid - just Google it and follow instructions. If you activate on Verizon prepaid you are married to that for about six months. I activated on PP with no issues.

I bought this phone when it was on sale for $50 as a backup if someone breaks their device. I wanted to make sure it was not defective so I asked my adult son to try it out just to make sure it works before the return period is up. Well he fell in love with it, it's quick, the screen is decent and has good battery life. His old RAZR M is now his backup phone not his daily driver. I grabbed another one last week when they were $45 on sale. It's amazing they can pack this much phone into such a low price.

This is a good phone that runs on VZW's 4G LTE network. The phone works well for the most part, but you can certainly tell there is a small lag when launching apps. I am comparing to the Samsung S5. So for the money, the Moto E is very good. I do find launching Chrome is particularly noticeable. On other occasions the phone gets warm when worked hard. However, it does everything competently. I recommend this phone as a light use phone, not for your smartphone obsessed app everything person.

At this price, this phone is a steal. 4.5 inch screen with decent definition, current Android operating system, excellent battery life, 4G LTE, and mobile hotspot which works well. I use it on Verizon's $45 plan and is working out very well and NO CONTRACT!

Needed a smartphone that wouldn't break the bank and this did the trick. Screen decently bright and vivid; lowish resolution is not an issue with my boomer eyesight. Cam is nothing to write home about but OK in a pinch. A flash would have been nice but certainly not a dealbreaker. Build quality very solid. Battery life is excellent. CPU and RAM sufficient for my admittedly limited needs. Moto's uncluttered UI and regular OS updates are icing on the cake.

This basic Android phone from Motorola has the latest basic features: LTE and Android 5.1. The camera is 5MP and the screen is 540 x 960, which are typical for low-end phones. The case is solid, but it feels heavy. The built-in 8GB will not be enough but the phone takes 32GB micro-SD. The operations feels smooth and connections are good. No complaint for the price. Get if when it's on-sale if you just want a basic solid phone.

I purchased this as my mother's first smartphone. I am usually into the latest and greatest for phones. Although this phone's features and capabilities are far from the Moto G and Moto X, it is the most ideal phone for my mother's first smartphone. The 4G capability really comes in handy for the GPS and occasional web browsing. Pictures and texting are a breeze. Under good lighting I am impressed by the camera. The battery usually lasts a couple days before needing recharged. Mom is learning fast and getting better with it each day. We continue to be impressed by yet another great device by Motorola.

After get used to this, i kept this phone as Primary. Pros: Android updates Great Price Item Quad Core Processor - Smooth Transition and Responsive Battery Life Expandable Micro SD Card LTE coverage Cons: 5.1 update blocked GSM usage, but luckily there was a work around to fix.

So far this phone has been excellent. It is easy to use and has a lot of features similar to my IPOD touch. It has a siri- like feature that is great for hands free. I am getting good service everywhere, (for both internet and calls), really a good solid phone. The only negative thing about it is that the camera is not great - no flash and does not zoom that much but for a simple selfie or outside shot it is fine. I would recommend it to anyone who does not want to spend a lot on a smartphone. And even if you change your mind later it was $40!! And I got a $45 credit toward my bill the next month so really it's worth a shot.

This is an amazing cellphone at this low price-point. It's got a good screen, runs on Android L and performs well as a phone. The battery life is phenomenal - 2-3 days with light usage (30 minutes calling, 1 hour WiFi browsing, 15 minutes LTE usage). It has a Micro-SD card slot for expanding the amount of usable memory (inbuit 8 GB). I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and I appreciate the neat design touches like the grippy back which doesn't attract fingerprints. All in all, very satisfied.
