Purchased these during a Black Friday promotion for my teenage son. Of course I was surprised when he told me they were wireless. When asked what he thought about the product...
Pros: Wireless is a bonus (no wires to tangle); sound quality is magnificent
Cons: Replacing batteries in the headset

I enjoy the headphones. The setup was quick and easy. Sound quality is very good. There are 4 EQ settings, which provide enough settings for different applications. I use the headphones for gaming as well as movies, and sports so the EQ settings come in handy. Although these headphones do not provide as much bass as my wired Turtle Head headphones, the sound is top notch. As other reviewers have stated, they require a cord if you want to use chat feature. You will need to connect your headphones to the controller. As far as the battery life is concerned, I got about 5-6 hours of continuous use before batteries died, I suggest you invest in rechargeable batteries. I did and I'm very happy with the purchase. I'm giving the headphones 4/5 because of the battery life.

The headphones have great sound and set up very easy out of the box. I would recommend a good set of nimh recharge AAA batteries for this setup. The headset will consume batteries pretty quick because it is wireless and has a high quality radio receiver for sound.

I purchased this about a month or two ago.
Out of the box, it couldn't have been any easier to setup. All cables are included. It's worth noting that the manual recommends keeping the transmitter away from any wireless routers as it could pick up noise. Since my consoles and router are next to each other, I really couldn't avoid this, but I don't notice any static or buzzing.
It's a fairly comfortable headset. I don't normally like to wear over-the-ear headsets or headphones for more than an hour or two, but I really don't mind these. However, it is worth noting that if you play a lot, you'll need to replace batteries fairly often. In my case, I replace batteries about every 10 hours of use.
One of the main reasons I bought this was for the surround sound. A lot of people I talked to recommended a surround sound headset over a basic stereo headset because you'll feel more immersed in the game and so you can hear people coming up behind you in games like Call of Duty. I don't think the surround sound is that great, but I did compare them with stereo headphones and I do notice a difference. The surround sound is definitely an improvement, but I haven't fiddled around with the surround sound settings to find one that worked the best for me.
Overall, I would buy these again.

The headphones are ok. They are comfortable to where. They Are partially wireless which is the part that doesn't impress me so much. I would expect wireless to be wireless but to communicate with other players you have to plug them into the controller. The sound is great. The volume control for the chat is on the cord going to the remote and will get turned up or down when moving around which is very frustrating. Try again turtle beach. For the price not very satisfied.

While I believe this headset has excellent and clear sounds... the headset is a tad heavy and improperly fitting on my head even with adjustments made to keep it where I want during a long gaming session, and battery life is a little weak - recommending rechargeable batteries on hand

These headphones sound great and are very comfortable. I got them on sale so the price was good. I'd find them too pricey if I was paying full price. The major negative is the short battery life. Plan on buying rechargeable batteries and a battery charger if you get these headphones.

Got this for my son for Christmas. He loves it and it works well so far. Sound quality is great. He loves how comfortable they are. I read reviews where the mic stops working a couple weeks in, but that hasn't happened to ours.

This headphone set is outstanding. I especially love the surround sound. Using these is like being in a movie theater when I use them to watch movies. Incredible! I bought them for my 16-yr-old nephew's birthday and he was eager for me to try them out.

These are comfortable to wear even with glasses. The sound is good and microphone works real well, though sometimes I get some background interference when the microphone is on.
Easy to access volume and chat controls.
They are not completely cordless though. In order to use the microphone though, you have a cord that runs from the headphones to your controller. If I could have returned this and purchased the XP400 I would have done that. I know they are more expensive, but may be worth the extra money to be completely cordless.

I upgraded from my wired DX12 which was also a good headset. The things that bothered me were all corrected with this design. The master volume is on the earpiece so no more brushing the control inadvertently. Also, the sound quality is good but not quite the bass volume as old ones. All in all I am very happy with the purchase. Above average rating on all. Only issue was even with the chat volume turned all the way down, you can still hear the loud folks but just barely. I highly recommend them for under $100.

The X42 Headset is very good. Not only does it have Dolby Digital Surround sound but it is also very easy to set up and very comfortable to wear. The only downside to the headset is that it runs on 2 AAA batteries, and with out rechargeable batteries, you go through them quite fast, especially if the headset is used often.

For the price, these are great. If you're not willing to spend $300 for the Astros, get these. they'll be fine. Only gripe is that they take 2 AAA batteries. Personally, I prefer built in batteries and charging the headset directly.

Sounds great and works like its suppose to, but the headphones do not fit very comfortably around the ears. the older set of Turtle beach headphones are more oval shaped and fit much better than the new 42's.

I got these for my ps4 but learned after purchasing they're really designed for Xbox 360. They will still work for the ps but it's a pain to set up and although it is wireless, there are wires that connect to the controller. Just a hassle. I returned them and got the ps gold headphones. Far better. But still, turtle beach is a great brand and one I've used in the past.
