As a true story it is awesome to see the history unfolding. The special effects are some of the very best you can see of the WWII in the making. Great story of a mans struggle to survive and be victorious in the end!

This movie is both inspiring and a bit depressing. The Inspiration comes from the main character, Louie, who endures several major tragedies, including time in a Japanese Prisoner of War camp during World War II, and yet prevails. His "never say die" attitude, along with his great strength both physically and emotionally, makes him a role model for us all. The depressing part of the movie is the treatment Louie and his fellow prisoners receive from their captors. I recommend this movie, you won't be disappointed!

This is an exceptional movie about a hero. A man of courage and grit that the world should admire for his values and inner strength. Definitely not anything shallow about this man. I can't even imagine going through even a smidgen of what he endured. His will to survive and go on to lead an incredible life is beyond the pale. You will stay glued to the screen.

The movie had great acting and was a very realistic look at the battle. I enjoyed the ability of the actors to protral fear in a realistic manor and would recommend this movie. I have lent this movie out to family and friends and they all have stated how great it was. I liked the followup on the main character in todays time.

A movie all should see! At times it was painful to watch, but the truth was educationally needed and important to learn about the past history and sacrifice of this war hero and our veterans. They deserve our deepest respect!

I typically don’t prefer period films; but had to watch due to the reviews of this movie. Totally Awesome movie. Riveting from beginning to end! A must see. Worth much more than the $10 I paid for it. Thanks BB!

Thus far, no movie based on a book has topped said book. Unbroken comes close, but falls just short. It removes the aspect of Faith in God that was found in the Book. It also tends to focus more on the action than the feeling of the incredible story. But it is amazing nontheless.

Excellent movie where two soldiers will become the best friends forever after the war is over. This movie will break your heart and teach you how forgiveness can change the way we act about others. A movie that the whole family can watch it.

Californian Louis Zamperini was a young hellion who became a champion high school track star, and he ran for his country in the 1936 Olympics. When the Second World War began, he became a bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Forces. After his B-24 went down in the Pacific he endured 47 days on a life raft only to be captured by the Japanese. His treatment in Japanese prison camps was brutal. "Unbroken" brings his story to the big screen. It's a film that should inspire new generations of Americans. There's fine acting by Jack O'Connell as Zamperini, and Japanese rock guitarist Miyavi gives a chilling performance as Zamperini's tormenter. The sequences in the B-24 well convey the nature of air operations in the Pacific and the coordination of aircrews. You'll jump in your seat when the sharks attack. And "Unbroken" provides a reminder of the brutality of the Japanese endured by allied POWs during the war. (The recent film "Railway Man" with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman gave more testimony.) Many viewers will have come to this film after reading Laura Hillenbrand's book of the same title. Every screenplay writer and director must condense, and those who know the full story will notice that director Angelina Jolie did some trimming. The movie ends with Zamperini's return to the U.S. and the embrace of his family. That he could not shake off the demons of his imprisonment is left unshown. It was Billy Graham that turned him away from the alcoholism that was devastating his postwar life. "Unbroken" needs a dramatic sequel to finish its tale of heroism and faith. That said, the story of Louis Zamperini's running career and his "unbroken" spirit as a prisoner of war is enough to make this a compelling film.

This true story is a movie that will keep your attention and inspire you to never give up and always have faith! A highly recommended movie for everyone to see!!

Saw this at the theater turns out my boyfriend had the person in this movie as a track coach in high school so that made it more meaningful for us!

This film was a good film, but my main problem is that it should have been outstanding with the given source material it came from about Louis Zamperini's incredible life. The man's journey is incredible and I just felt like this film didn't fully showcase how incredible it was. I don't want to harp on Angelina Jolie, but this is the type of story and film that should have won best picture at the Academy Awards. Maybe if Spielberg directed it and was the leader on set this film could have been an all-time great film, but it just ended up being good but not memorable. The cinematography was good. The acting was good. I would recommend this movie to anyone, because it is not overly violent with cursing like some war films, so the young ones can watch it. It is a good inspirational film for anyone that needs motivation and inspiration, but, again, it could have been so much better and could have been an iconic film given the source material. Steelbook Case: I really like the front cover, but unfortunately their is no artwork on the back cover and it is just white. The interior artwork is pretty bland. In terms of rating this steelbook for collectors, I would give it a 5 out of 10 because it looks bland and is not very beautiful like other steelbooks. Included: Blu-ray, DVD, digital copy (Itunes, Windows Media), and ultraviolet copy (Vudu, CinemaNow, etc)

My daughter read this book in school & wanted to see the movie. It was hard watch but such an important part of history & so inspiring!

We LOVED this movie; i saw it on a charter bus and purchased it for my family as soon as we got home and they loved it too!!

This is a great movie! The lead actor's courage, will, determination, and intelligence is inspirational! Must see movie!

This is one of the most powerful stories you’ll ever know. Unfortunately the movie is only a shell of the book. READ THE BOOK! But this blu-ray was only $5 so it’s worth it.

This is a great movie to own. It's very interesting all the events the main actor takes place in... from the 1936 Olympics to WWII to the POW camp he's in.

This movie is incredible. To see how one man stands unbroken is strengthening and moving. A must see movie.

If you read the book you will enjoy the movie. An amazing story of perseverance. Very well done!
