Customers are enthusiastic about the engaging gameplay and well-written story of Pre-Owned Until Dawn. Many also praised the game's atmosphere and voice acting, while some found the controls could be improved and the game's length somewhat short. A few players noted occasional frame rate issues. Despite some minor drawbacks, the positive feedback on the core gameplay and narrative elements is significant.

After some yelling at the screen, a couple of jump scares and a dozen or so tense hours I made it to the end: 3 survivors. I would have like to have more but I can always go back and try again.
Until Dawn doesn't offer you the most innovative or complex gaming mechanics but it makes up for it with a wonderful cast variety, an intriguing story -of which you mostly control its development- and a creepy atmosphere. I'm still experimenting with it's "butterfly effect" system and what I like about it is how you can go to it at any time to see what effect your actions and decisions have so far in the story. Game looks good and it feels right and definitely has some replay value.
This genre lacks enough quality games and with Until "Dawn" you have something unique and surprisingly fun. I would recommend this so give it go.

I had no clue about this game until one week prior to it's release. I was looking up what new games were going to be released on Tuesday. Saw the remastered Gears of War for XBone was coming out. Tempting, as I love the Gears series, but I'd rather play something new. The only other next gen game coming out that caught my eye was Until Dawn. Saw the cheesy cover and had to Google to find out what this game was about.
After watching some videos, I was instantly intrigued. I'm a fan of Telltale and Quantic Dream titles, so a game like this was right up my alley. Plus, it had Claire Bear, Grant Ward and Mr. Robot!? Sign me up! Anyway, the game is super fun, great to play with friends and looks amazing!

The game is not yet perfect, but it is FUN! It is reminiscent of the Tell Tale games, but with a horror movie spin. The game mechanics work well and the graphics are amazing! Only a couple of nit picky things that don't really matter to complain about. Overall one of my favs!

Not really a big fan of the game since there are better games out there. But if you want to go for jump scares and terrifying gameplay experience go for Outlast!

If you like games like Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, The Walking Dead, and The Wolf Among Us, then you're in for a treat. Until Dawn might just be better than them all. Graphically at least, it is one of the most impressive looking games released thus far, perhaps only beaten by Sony's other first party offering, The Order: 1886. The story is tons of fun, even if you're not a B-horror film fan, and the voice acting is all top notch.
This is a story game, so your choices matter. Depending on what you do, the characters you play as (and there are several) can live or die. It's a game that has the potential to be different every time you play it, so even if you've seen someone else play, you can rest easy knowing your experiences will unlike theirs.
If you're easily spooked maybe this isn't the game for you. Though it has its (intentional) campy charms, it still IS horror. There are plenty of scares to be found. But if you can stomach, then I recommend the surprise, cult-hit of 2015!

A quick way to describe this game is a choose your adventure in a horror scenario. That alone sparked my curiosity of checking this game out, along with the butterfly effect system that is in the game. First things first, the graphics are AMAZING! Almost real life quality to be exact. What I also found interesting/crazy, was how closely some voice actors resembled their actual characters. The story itself did seem somewhat cliche, but it later gets considerably more interesting; can't say much more about it without spoilers. Gameplay itself was also good, especially if you're familiar with Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls. What I mean by that is the quick time events that occur throughout the game; these range from simple button presses, to aiming a crosshair at a target, or even keeping the controller still for a certain amount of time. There will also be decisions you have to make within given time frame, which brings me to the butterfly effect system. The system was put together nicely, the developers did an excellent job with that. Within the collectibles menu, you can see how a chain of events unfold through actions you do; it even goes as far as adding the option to do nothing, which is sometimes the right thing to do! The only complaint I have about gameplay, is that sometimes, there is a poor sense of direction; you may find yourself trying to acquire the collectible totems or clues in the game, but end up jumping down to the next area and not being able to backtrack to find the other clues and totems. Although a minor complaint, there is a good chance you'll run into that problem, which may affect your experience. In the pause menu, you can also see stats bars for every character you end up controlling. These include Traits, and Relationship Status. Traits reflects the personality of the character, like bravery or curiosity to name a couple. To be honest, I am not sure how the Traits affect the story; maybe so you can see how it changes as the story goes, but that's a stretch and still makes it seem irrelevant. The Relationship Status shows how a specific character's relationship is with another. This does have more impact on the story as it affects how characters may interact with one another as the story progresses; for example, a few characters run away from something and character A pushes character B out of their way so character A can get further, putting character B in danger. Relationship Status also affects the final scene. Also, take note that there will be jump scares in the game; there is a questionnaire in the game which will affect what will appear in the jump scares throughout the game. The collectible totems in the game give you brief visions of possible outcomes or what to do depending on the color of the totem you may find; you might see a possible death of a character or an object of importance. It's up to you to interpret the vision and decide how to go about a situation. The visions from the totems may or not occur based on how you play. If I had to rate this game from 1-10, I would give it a solid 8, maybe 8.5 out of 10. It's a great game despite its flaws pointed out earlier. It is definitely worth full price, even better if you get it on sale or even have GCU membership to get 20% off new games here on Best Buy. I'm confident you will enjoy this game.

Until Dawn is a pretty solid game thus far. I use the term 'game' a bit loosely here because while it is certainly a game, it's a bit more like playing a movie. If you've played TellTale's The Walking Dead series, you'll know what I'm talking about. The decisions you make in the game affect the ending and there a bunch of different endings you could end up with based on your game-play. I would say it's much better done than any other game in the same genre. The story and atmosphere are immersive overall and it definitely has a survival horror feel to it. I'd recommend it if you were excited for The Walking Dead series, but walked away disappointed. This is definitely a cut above the rest. Just know what you're getting into, this isn't Resident Evil or Silent Hills.

I seriously can't recommend this game enough. I'm terrified of horror movies but when I heard about the amount of choice given to the player in this game, I decided to get it.
Brief plot summary: Eight teenagers visit a mountainside cabin where weird, unsettling things start happening. You control their decisions, from trusting or doubting each other, to deciding to hide or keep running when being chased. The game has a strong emphasis on the "butterfly effect," where small decisions have big consequences later. The decisions you make for each character determine how many survive until dawn.
What I liked:
- STORY: The writers created a game with the feel of a horror movie mixed with a mystery. You're constantly looking for clues to unveil the area's history and the details of who is pursuing you. The dialogue can be a bit hit or miss, but the general story arc and background details is very well done.
- CHARACTERS: The game starts with each character occupying a pretty standard stereotype, such as jock, comic, dumb girl, etc. I quickly grew attached to everyone, as the writers give each character a lot of depth. Deciding their choices throughout the game also tailors them to how YOU want to play. If you see a character cheat on her boyfriend, you have the option to tell that boyfriend or to side with the girl, for example.
- CHOICE: Seriously, if you're on the fence about the horror element but you like games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, Fallout for the choices they give you, you have to try Until Dawn. Simple decisions like whether you leave a bat in the basement or take it with you, whether you take a shortcut or the long and safe route, whether you trip as you're running or respond perfectly, whether you escalate a disagreement with someone or make amends; these decisions impact what happens later. It's hard to keep every character alive, but it's possible.
- GRAPHICS: The facial animations in this game are unparalleled. Very, very well done and the "making of Until Dawn" section of the game shows just how much work went into this.
- SCARES: Like I said, I'm a total wimp for horror... but I ended up loving the scary moments actually. The game is relentless with the jump scares, particularly the first half of the game, and each left me laughing and relieved afterwards. The action moments tied to these fights, such as chases or fights, are really well done, too.
What I didn't like:
- STEREOTYPES: Pretty minor, but the writing for some of the characters stuck a little too close to the stereotype they were supposed to fulfill, like the "sleazy girl" or "girlfriend." These characters could have easily been given more depth, but as I said, pretty minor.
Overall:
- 5/5. This has become one of my favorite games. I'm going to play through again now and make different decisions to see how that changes how the game plays out. I managed to keep 5 of them alive this time.

This game has decent acting from the main cast, great visuals, and an awesome atmosphere with even better sound. For those of you looking for a great interactive narrative, pick this up. For everyone looking for a great adventure game, keep looking.
While predictable and sometimes overacted, this game still packs a punch and delivers on jump scares with intriguing choices that will make you question your own morality.
I will not get into a lengthy review, that's what the pros are paid for. But, if you're a fan of games such as Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls or anything by Quantic Dream and are having doubts about this game, doubt no longer. Pick this up and just enjoy the ride.

For a game that got passed around in development and jumped from the PS3 to the PS4, Until Dawn has an impressive and polished production. The cast for starters is superb, and the characters they play are pleasantly multilayered despite their initial presentation as tropes. The writing is very aware of horror tropes in film and uses them to play with your expectations.
The creators took that feeling of frustration you have with teens running around getting killed in slasher flicks and turned it into a game. You get to make those choices that determine who lives or dies. The whole thing feels Hollywood in the best way possible.
The story is linear but so well-paced, slowly growing in intensity to make you paranoid before everything hits the fan. The characters are charismatic, I quickly invested and wanted to see (most of) them pull through. If you're like me and get scared easily, the jump scares will get you pretty good. Those kinds of spooks can easily feel tacky, but Until Dawn uses them well for the most part. The game trolls you hard.
I would say it's best experienced with a friend or group--it's so, so fun to theorize and make choices together. There's no "multiplayer" per say, but you can pass the controller around and each play different characters. There isn't a lot of replayability, just to see different choices and 100% everything. I am planning to play with other people, but only to experience their reactions rather than the game itself.
I would love more games like this, with a popcorn Hollywood cast and script!
