This thing sounds great when you're running something on my LG C9 itself, like the Netflix app, but playing a game the surround sound is completely borked; anything not directly in front sounds like it's from behind and there is no distinction between left and right rear speakers. I've tried every combination of Linear PCM, Bitstream, Dolby, DTS, HDMI eArc (yes I used the correct HDMI port and did Pass-Through for the other HDMI devices), Optical, and other system settings. All the speakers work when testing them. Also, the soundbar constantly hums quietly when plugged into any outlet, even when the thing is turned off.

When all speakers are operating properly during a speaker test and an audible hum can be heard from the speakers, this would typically indicate that the content being watched is not able to support surround sound playback, or possibly there might be some settings that need to be adjusted. The same issue eventually occurs to this model. Could be the same day you plug in for the first time, or a months later. But, eventually the Dolby Atmos function will have major issues, that are not fixable. The biggest issue is that when trying to watch anything with Dolby Atmos you’ll barely be able to hear the actors speak. Doesn’t matter if you adjust all the settings it has, doesn’t matter if you’re on the newest software (currently 2.1.0.4), doesn’t matter if you switch HDMI cords, and it doesn’t even matter if you change the input. You will always have this issue. For non Dolby Atmos content it works good enough. Music isn’t too bad either; although it misses out on mid tones. I’ve contacted support and they too were unable to fix the issue. Don’t be like me and hopelessly wait for a fix that will never come.
