This is my favorite 4k tv so far! The sound is awesome! And the picture is better with the 2160 resolution. It works amazing with the wireless surfboard router we have

This TV is good overall. Vizio now has the update out so you get both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The tablet remote takes a little to get used to but wonderful after you get used to it. I paird it with the Samsung 8500 Ultra 4K blu-Ray and it's amazing!!! I do find I use the apps on the blu-Ray more than the TV only because the blu-Ray has Amazon Video and the TV does not. Just make sure to turn on the color sampling on the HDMI 1 where the blu-Ray is plugged in and you'll love it.

First of all let me start off by saying how much value this television option has. You have 4K ultra high definition, HDR10 & Dolbyvision capabilities, not to mention you have a tablet for a remote. Never gave a felt so happy to turn on a tv in my entire life from a remote.
That's not to say that there is not any issues. The only major gripe I have about this model is that HDR10 does not come standard, so all those 4K movies or shows you would like to watch are not to their full potential because the firmware is not updated. I've called Vizio directly and they have confirmed that yes, the firmware update is available, but only to a small portion of the owners of this tv. I have had this television now for 4 weeks and have tried to get the update for about a week and a half. I am still waiting... patiently.
If you already have a 4K tv I would have to tell you to upgrade to a HDR supported device simply because the screen is far more radiant and lively on every channel, show, and video game.
Aside from the firmware upgrade there really are now weaknesses to this tv. Granted it's not a LG OLED, but you are also not dishing over 4K is dollars. Great tv and very satisfied with this purchase.

Great Sub-$700 4K Theater Display

I was given a M50 for my opinions on this Home Theater System. I say Theater System over TV because the one thing missing from this 50 inch Smartcast 4K UHD monitor is a TV tuner. But that's OK. Within the next few years, you will need to upgrade your tuners for 4K signal anyway as we plan for ATSC 3.0
As for the Monitor, if you're looking for something good to watch movies and shows with the family, this sub-$700 4K screen will work well. It has a great viewing angle, and will be enjoyed in any average living room.
PROS:
Audio Speakers and DTS StudioSound give you enough where you don't need a soundbar. Chromecast inside recieves content and gets you watching your shows. Monitor powers up and switches devices in a quick fashion. You can load the SmartCast App on any iOS or Android device to use. Pairing is easy and updates to the TV and phone are seamless.
Things to think about:
Android-based tablet might be a security risk if you use your regualar username - password. Regular remote buttons are small and can be confusing. Of course, no TV tuner attached.
Overall this is a great 4K to watch movies, TV, and play your XBox or PS4 with. Setup is straightforward and everyone will be able to get to their favorite Hulu, Netflix, YouTube or other apps.

So far so good. Comes with Android tablet remote

So far the TV is great and even just watching via non 4K Time Warner box or streaming from Google Play Movies, Amazon, HBO or Netflix the picture is still better than standard HD. We still need to hook up & test a true 4k HDR picture with our new ROKU so I'm anticipating the picture will be even better.
Comes with a convenient Android touchscreen casting tablet remote. Netflix has issues casting but that's problem with Netflix app as have same issue casting from other devices. Tablet remote is standard Android system so can still use Play store for normal apps & play a game on the remote even while watching TV or even if watching YouTube video casted over.
I do recommend an external SD card as storage is limited on the tablet & now that you can download, offline movies from Netflix, HBONow, Amazon, YouTube & movie rentals/purchases from Google Movies or Vudu etc. Believe me, downloading movie offline first is better experience as the picture never waivers due to Wifi or internet issues & there's no annoying buffering,spinning circle forever issues. Like watching a normal Blu-Ray disc. Remote also comes with convenient, & fast wireless charging stand, but still have option to hook-up normal MicroUsb charging plug it also comes with.
I recommend tweaking all picture & sound settings right away as it makes a big difference in the picture quality. There are guides online which explain picture optimization settings that are best for standard cable box viewing, 4K disc movies, streaming players & also game system settings. That is best way to quickly set & settle on what's best for your room lighting, distance view is at etc.

I'm disappointed with the tablet that came with it. The tablet is restricted to an old version of Android and doesn't have a great screen. The wireless charging stand is proprietary and it died after a while. It did come with a simple remote. I mostly use Logitech Harmony to control it though.
The 4k screen is what you would expect. 60 hz, 4k, hdr, and it supports uncompressed video. I am using it as a computer monitor. hdmi 2.0 is unable to support those four features all at the same time though.

Netflix Wifi & Relax

(I received this tv at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest feedback)
At 1st I had a little trouble connecting the tablet to the tv via wifi/bluetooth. It took me nearly a week to figure it out correctly. I actually believe it was because of how weak my wifi was now (upgraded since).
Aside from that, and after getting it settled, I pretty much haven't left my bedroom. We secured the 50 inch tv on a movable tv mount pretty easy (not included), instead of the included stand. Now we just sit back, select a show on our favorite app and click stream.
The tablet runs off Google Play so majority of your apps are available like Netflix, Amazon, HBO, CW, etc. You can also get the Streamcast app on your phone but personally just stick to the tablet.
Also for charging, the tablet has a wireless charger which is super helpful.
We just signed back up with cable but this TV was our lifesaver without. Stream any shows, movies, games, etc right from your computer, phone or tablet! Go from a small screen to a big screen with the push of a button!!

The TV is great for the price since it is stupid to spend so much for a 4k TV at this point due to the lack of available content. This TV though gives a good visual and upscaling. The pros of the TV:
-->Up-scaling
-->Price
-->Works with Xbox One S HDR
--->Audio
Cons:
-->Tablet remote is not expandable storage wise( it needs a memory card reader)
-->Viewing Angle issues
-->Standard Remote needs rewind and fast forward button..also sleep button.

This is a great TV. When the settings are set correctly, you can get a really nice picture. It's also very easy to set up and use.
The only thing I don't like about it is the viewing angle isn't very good. You have to look at the TV head-on in order to get the best possible viewing experience. If you deviate even a little from that spot, the colors become faded and less pronounced. Still, it's fantastic for the price.

This TV was purchased to be used in our son's bedroom. The built-in chromecast works great with the included android remote. He casts video from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Vudu and YouTube without any issues. He even uses the Google Home to use voice commands to cast music to it. The picture is very sharp and clear and easily adjustable through the calibration menu. It also works great with his PS4, XBox One and Nintendo Switch.

This TV is great! For the price, it's hard to beat. It doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles but it gets the job done and the picture is crisp/clear. You'll have to play around with the settings a little bit to get a great color but there are some decent preset options. The built in Chromecast will already save you a great deal as the 4k Chromecast model is already $70. Make sure to read the directions when first setting up/connecting a device to the Vizio Chromecast. As with most TVs, the sound will not blow you away so you will want to purchase a sound system. With the amount of money you can save on this television you should be able to at least afford a soundbar/subwoofer combo. This TV also come HDR compatible so you are ready for any future devices that may support it.
If you're not on a budget I'm sure there are plenty of better options out there. However, if you are like most people and looking to get the most bang for your buck, look no further.

I was first a little unsure what to expect from a Vizio TV as the brand was not usually considered to be at the top with some of the others (at least not in the past).
I was however, completely wrong. For the price that my girlfriend and I paid for this TV, I would say it was far more than a deal. Everything looks amazing, and I was also shocked to see that it works perfectly with my Xbox One S. I have heard from different friends about problems with certain 4K Televisions not having the correct specs to utilize the HDR properly with the One S, so when I saw green check marks across the board I was very happy.
My only complaint is sort of good and bad. The TV came with a nice tablet, which is the only remote which will allow you to change things such as resolutions, colors, brightness, and so on. While I do really like the tablet, I wish that these were all able to be done from the tiny remote which also came paired with it. It took me forever to figure out how to update the firmware on the TV itself, to finally get it to run the HDR.
Other than that, I highly recommend this Television to anyone looking for a more affordable 4k HDR experience that still has comparable quality to the far more expensive competitors.

I love this TV! I have honestly hardly used the fancy tablet remote that was so cool and enticing but don't care if it cost more as the TV is well worth it! I use my phone and iPad as remotes and my standard remote, whatever is nearby and handy. It has an awesome picture, easy streaming, and overall a great picture. Definitely my favorite TV I've ever owned and I've had some of the nicest of their time!

The price was great, for my 1st 4k tv. There are 2 remotes included. One is a basic remote and the other is a 6 inch android tablet that can cast apps to the included Google Chromecast within the tv. Lastly, the picture is vibrant and pops of the screen.

Amazing High-End Features, Without The High Price!

VIZIO sent me this display in exchange for a review.
If you've been looking to purchase a Smart TV, there's no smarter choice than the VIZIO M50-D1 SmartCast Home Theater Display. Unlike other TVs which have popular apps (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc) built into the TV, the VIZIO M50-D1 takes a different approach entirely,
building Google Cast support into each set. This allows you to stream your favorite content from 1000+ apps right to the big screen using the included 6″ Android Tablet Remote!
In addition, this set features 4K Ultra HD resolution, High Dynamic Range w/ Dolby Vision support, and full-array LED backlighting with up to 64 active LED zones.
How they are able to offer such a feature-packed TV for $849 (or less, depending on where you purchase it from) is beyond me, but I'm not complaining.
The picture quality is great (once you properly calibrate it), Google Cast is a game changer, and UHD 4K stuff looks incredible. The audio is adequate given the TV's thin profile, but a sound bar definitely helps.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with this set, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quality TV without breaking the bank!
