I was looking to upgrade to a 4K TV and I have other Vizio TV's so I purchased this with full confidence that it would be fine. It was easy to set up and the picture quality is stunning even with standard Blu-Rays but the 4K movies really come to life on this TV. I expect to enjoy this TV for years to come!

This tv has a great picture for the price range. Just don’t lose the remote, I couldn’t find a way to control the tv without it.

I have been looking for a TV for sometime, while walking into a store - it was playing and the colors really attracted me to the TV area. I did not buy it that day, but did log the name, model, and series for future reference. I went to Best Buy that weekend and they matched the price …… just like that! Loaded and had this set up in no time - we are very happy with this product and the service Best Buy provided during the transaction. I recommend this TV and also recommend the Best Buy experience!

Originally we wanted the 50" Vizio but it was out of stock so we opted for the 55" and we don't regret it. Excellent picture, colors are vibrant. The staff at Best Buy was extremely helpful as we made our selection. For the price I don't see a better choice than the 55" Vizio M series.

great television for the money. plenty of dimming zones and a large upgrade from previous years or lower models with only 12 dimming zones. colors are crisp and ease of use is great. would recommend to anyone looking to get a great tv without spending the money for an OLED or QLED.

First time I purchased a Vizio tv and I was blown away by the picture quality! I known Vizio to be a budged friendly brand and I always associated that with cheap low quality sets. But Vizio knows where to cut corners to get you great picture quality that rivals those like the likes of Samsung, Lg, and Sony. The only downside it’s the interface it’s a little laggy and it can be annoying but if you have a chromecast or google tv you can easily bypass this.

OS lags just a bit here and there but a solid option for any room of the house. Great picture and surprisingly good speakers for a TV. I will note that when you lower the backlight, the screen can appear slightly flickery.

I purchased this tv for my living room to replace an 8 year old Sony Google TV that was much bulkier and outdated. The picture on the Vizio is crisp and so detailed compared to the older model Sony. The sound is phenomenal and includes a sound bar on the rear with subwoofer that is more than adequate for my living room size. I’m very happy with my purchase and would recommend the tv to family/friends. My boyfriend wants one now after watching movies on the tv and now is religiously at my house for football Sundays to watch the games on the Vizio.

Vizio have done a good job with their picture quality but their software is slow and outdated. I have had so much trouble with this TV just navigating through the menus that I had to buy a fire stick TV to be able to keep my sanity. I would only recommend this if you plan on using a Fire stick TV or similar device.

This Vizio M series is a great TV. Make sure you get the M8 and not the M7 as it has better nits and more active zones. The blacks are better than some of the Samsung Qled Tvs. In specific the q6 q7 and even the q8. The entry level sony oled and lg oled are just as good, but double the price.

Impressed with the picture and especially the new update that has Apple Airplay built in where you can stream from your iOS device! Highly recommend this TV!! It replaced my previous Panasonic plasma and this TV gives me the same black levels so I am impressed.

Somewhat easy to set up and install. The channel scan issues at set up should be explained better. (I didn't need to perform it.) But once set up was complete the picture was great. Had to use "bright" setting for optimal display even though TV in a relatively dark room.

Great price on this M series. It might not have all the bells and whistles that it's big brother the P Series has, but I didn't really need anything super fancy to fit my needs. Make no mistake though, this set still has inky blacks and very clean whites. I haven't noticed any uniformity issues with the grays either. One thing I especially like, is that when I switch the input mode to PS4 it automatically turns my console on. This is my first 4k smart TV and I think it's really neat that it does that. I used the suggestion that rtings gave about using calibrated dark and the picture looks really good without even tweaking the settings that calibrated dark uses. I'm quite happy with my purchase. For those who are on a budget and don't want to go for the more expensive P series this set is going to be your next best bet I believe. DO make sure you get the 2nd generation one though (model number ends in G1), the reason being is they have 2 different ones for this model. Ones where the model number ends in G0 which is slightly older and has lower technical specifications like less local dimming zones and such, and one where the model number ends in G1, which has more local dimming zones and such (meaning it's a better TV). For example the one I bought is a G1 (the better one) and the model number was M558-G1. So yeah, just make sure you pay attention to that when buying your set, so you get the better of the two 2019 M-Series sets.

    Enjoying TV

So far I am enjoying the TV for the most part except for two issues. First issue is the TV has a mind of its own. That is to say, the TV turns itself on. I talked with Vizio support about it and was told to "reboot" then try it for a while. If it happens again, call back. Several days later I did call back because it was still turning itself on when nobody was in the room. This time I was told Vizio knows about this problem, it's a firmware issue that Vizio is working on, and that once solved the TV will update. In the meantime, I now have the TV power cord connected to a power strip, and after turning the TV off with the remote, we then turn off the power strip. When I go to turn it on, I turn on the power strip and wait a few minutes for the TV to warm up. I have a 32 inch Vizio, and it does not have this problem. That makes me wonder if Vizio is actually doing anything about the problem at all. Second problem is the sound bar. It's an LG model. When I first hooked everything up, all worked great. I used the TV remote to control the sound bar's volume, just like it's supposed to do. My problem is that this interface is not sustainable. After using the TV once, twice at most, I can no longer control the sound bar volume with the TV remote. When I talked to Vizio support, the tech did not seem to know this was even possible. So I had to refer her to the applicable page of the Tv's user's manual. The second tech I spoke with about the problem told me how to connect it using Menu System CEC DeviceDiscovery. When I do this the LG SOUND BAR appears, suggesting to me that the TV is paired with the sound bar. But it is not. I have to use the sound bar remote too. Not pleased.

I really like this tv because it's a very reasonably priced tv and it has a really bright clean picture and it's compatible with all my Google home devices and it's probably the nicest tv I've ever owned and I got it for much cheaper than some of the TVs I've bought in the past. I don't like how small the legs are on the tv but I have it mounted on my wall so I guess that issue is irrelevant to me. 4of 5

This tv has been everything I had hoped for. It has a super brilliant picture even from different angles. It was easy to set up and the apps are many. For the price, in my opinion it’s hard to beat. Would definitely buy again.

I’m happy with all the capabilities of this TV. However, there are a couple things to be wary of that I didn’t notice at purchase. No voice control, no web browser, no app store. The apps that come pre-installed are the only apps you can have. No HBO, Fubo, SlingTV, etc. Also, one big gripe, it seems like the TV has trouble establishing a strong connection to the wifi, it doesn’t happen often, but when it does I’ve had to unplug the TV and plug it back in for it to work again. Great picture though, 4K in QLED is a mind-blowing experience, i’ve noticed colors i’ve never noticed before in Movies and TV shows that I love. A completely immersive experience and the Dolby sound is spectacular. For the price I can deal with a few shortcomings. Highly recommend!
