Device was not functional. Could not be set up, even by Geek Squad. Attempted back-up's consistently failed.

Isnt 18TB its 16.4TB when gou clear it. Would make more sense is it had an Operating System on it. I feel like its false advertizing. My PS5 is 1TB with the OS its 8.2GB Free. How do i unlock the other 1.6TBs

Gets a SUPER low result in Crystal Disk. Passed the quick test, but the WD Drive Utilities complete test has been running since I bought the drive (over 24 hours now) and is still at 10 percent. Data transfers were also slow. Returning this item.

Stopped workingin just 1 and half year. I lost all important Data.

I ordered this drive in January of 2021. It turned out to be bad and it had to be sent in. They now refuse to send a replacement or refund the drive. $400+ and I have never been able to use it.

I bought an 18TB and it shows at 16.3TB on a brand new HD ... that is a lot of space lost that I paid for! Does not sound right! I will be returning (or exchanging).

Drive clicks & brand new, I've never had a drive start clicking out of the box.

Could not get either newest generation consoles to recognize this hard drive even after several attempts and reformatting and following Xbox recommendations to recognize a new drive.

It didn't work. It turned on & everything, but my laptop (HP) wouldn't recognize it. I tried virtually everything & couldn't get it to work. It's defective. Going to return it.

It STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE TO RETURN IT TO BE FIXED.

Confirmed with geek squad that although it is indeed an 18TB drive, the usuable space is only 16.3TB.

Dead On Arrival. HDD won't spin up. Just took it out of packaging and the drive displays LED light but neither Mac or Win will recognize the drive.

This was one of 3 WD drives I ordered at the same time. This one and one other arrived DOA. I returned the drive and bought Seagate instead.

I ordered an 18TB portable hard drive, the box says 18TB but, the portable hard drive is 14TB. This is bullcrap.

I love this little powerhouse. I use it to store nearly 18T of data in a very small physical space (unlike my NAS). My temperamental Mac formatted for ExFat and read it without issue. I loaded the contents of several smaller hard drives into this one relatively quickly and can now find everything at my fingertips. It's fast enough to run a Lightroom catalog to edit photos with the ability to move this drive from computer to computer. I've also used another to back up my NAS. Best of all, while a seemingly small detail, is the light at the front. My other WD externals don't have this feature, and I can never tell which one is running without following the cords. (They all hum next to one another.) This becomes important because this drive doesn't make nearly as many clunking noises as my smaller drives -- which makes me love it even more.

An impressive backup external hard drive. Huge capacity for a great price. The Acronis True Image back-up software (free download) is a bit of a challenge to configure, but once set up it does the job.

Good price for this amount of storage. Easy to set up. No problems. One small issue is the noise it sometimes makes when the drive is being accessed. But, so far, everything is as advertised.

Excellent capacity for all my movies and steam games. Super easy setup, just plug in the power and plug into the computer and it's already good to go. It's been running nonstop and has no overheating issues as far as I can tell. Sound-wise, I haven't had any issues and it's been relatively quiet. It's been about a month of constant usage.

Kind of noisy when reading/writing. Huge amount of storage for the price.
